Fun and Unique
This place is popular and sometimes difficult to reserve because it fills up so quickly. It’s not very big so that seating is limited. But it’s really fun to eat there. It’s not inside the parks, it’s at the Disneyland Hotel. You can’t miss it because it looks like a tiki hut. They have food to go along with the tiki atmosphere like a poke bowl and they also have chicken fingers, so something for everyone. It was one of our favorite places during our visit.

We had dinner here during our visit to Disneyland. We ordered the Pu Pu Platter and Wagyu burger with sweet potato fries. The panko crusted long green beans are amazing. We heard from several park goers to order these and they were spot on!! The bartenders are a hoot when someone orders certain drinkers. They have an entire skit they put on for the patrons and it’s lively. For dessert we had the Dole Whip with rum. Probably wouldn’t order that again and would go with just plain Dole Whip. Our server was Nikki and she was amazing, friendly, always smiling and checking on us.

Cool vibe. Beans were delicious. Rest of our food was terrible. Gyoza & wings both terrible (from someone who loves both) Salad was pretty & sounded good but did not enjoy at all. Salmon was fishy & dry. Good place for a fun drink but would pass on food (would consider going back just those fried string beans!)

After our cruise to Cabo... I said lets stop by Trader Sam's on the way home (Palm Springs) Bad Idea ..mind you I've been there many times before "covid" But my buddy had never been..planed on getting him in "that seat "..So we walk in around 12:00 noon ..no one in the place ..no one ! so I walk up to the bar ..not one not two but three bartenders told us they cant serve us unless were on "the list" ..I'm like what list ? Go outside & talk to the girl at the podium..O.k... My buddy thats with me starts to try and get an answer out of the bartenders to no avail (sidenote he has written two books on customer service ;) after talking to girl at podium ...says they don't want there bartenders over worked ..WTF theres nobody in there?!? I can see if its super busy & I'll wait/list for a table ..but this is just dumb..like the @$$hole that puts towels on a cabana at 7:00 am in the morning & then shows up at noon...So we leave ..no drink.. no validation for parking ..just $31 for the privlige of parking & being treated badly...

The whole place is Jungle Cruise themed and very fun. All the staff was nice and the bar tenders really looked like they have fun. They have special drinks that cause things to happen inside and the servers to do stuff too. Had Hurricane and some gyoza which all was top notch. Can’t wait to go back.

I would like to start by saying that we love the version of it in WDW Florida. I visited the California version once with our teenage daughter, and we had a great time. We felt bad for the person next to us. He had to sit at the bar behind a wide, support pilar, could he not see anything & his plate didn't fit, we had to make room for his plate. Bartender didn't seem to care, focused on the heavy drinkers. Decided to take my husband for the 1st time. He never visited. He is a very low key, just wants to eat good food type of person, but my daughter sold him on it. Prior to our reservation, we had a few drinks at the Tarangoa Terrace. Some of the drinks were meant for 2 people, and I'm undergoing chemotherapy for bone cancer. I can't have any alcohol. The bartender was kind enough to just give my husband 2 glasses of the drink rather than to push the big tiki dish for it. Once inside Trader's at the bar, the bartender Felipe was very busy making googly eyes with some mature ladies well into being intoxicated. He ignored us for a long time. At check-in, I asked the hostess if we could have a table, something that I didn't think about ahead, as I'm new to this cancer fight. She said they only had the high tops and the bar chairs. Selected the bar stools, I knew there was a metal bar I could use to lift and sit. I realized it wasn't their fault and didn't want to be an issue. Higher chairs are difficult for me, they they also pose a risk of falling. For me, a fall could be critical. My bones are filled with tumors and are now fragile. She was very kind, I believe her name was Dianna. What she apparently did not know was that my bar stool would sink at any given time. As we were eating and our food was getting cold, the place was freezing. My stool began to sank, which compressed my spine, I had to immediately get up. My husband, not being familiar with the setup, immediately became concerned. Felipe, the bartender knew what was happening and laughed it off. He said somebody must have a loose screw and never offered to help us. I stated my issue, and he walked away. I am only 5'4, so by the time the stool was at its lowest, my food was at eye level. I tried to extend my spine as much as I could to reach my food, and it was very painful. I tried to stand, but by then, my husband was fed up. He decided to switch with me at 6'2 he was uncomfortable. Felipe, seeing all this just gave him a side view and smirked. Thankfully, the hostess came in, and she was horrified that she forgot about it. Either way, she felt horribly because my husband found it uncomfortable and was standing when she asked Felipe how quickly they could get it back up. He said it would be another 10 minutes and walked away. He then asked us if he could close our tab. His shift was ending. My husband tried to order a drink and was told it was for 2 people. We explained the situation and how the bartender outside accommodated us, and Nikki refused. I'm assuming it was to try to sell the tiki container. We were the last tab collected for closing, Felipe was too busy, still flirting with the mature ladies, convincing them to buy mug. I noticed one got to choose, even though she didn't buy a drink that came in that mug. Trying to salvage our dinner, I encourage my husband to order the drink and the giant tiki container. He reluctantly agreed but said he would not buy it. I noticed other small ones and asked Nikki, I believe that was her name. or Nicole, if we were able to purchase one of the other mugs. She acted as if we asked her to lick our shoes. Looked at us as if we were dumb people. Then, in a very condescending tone, said our tab was already closed, and we could not just buy the mug, it needed to be added to the previous tab. Instead, we would have to buy another drink. In a desperate attempt to salvage the night. I encouraged my unhappy husband to order the drink to go and buy the mug. It was not the experience I wished for him as a first-tmer. I knew about the sinking chair, and I can absolutely understand the hostess forgetting about it. Once in distress, there was no effort to stop the sinking, which should be available. The food was even colder by the time we got it figured, I couldn't eat standing, and my husband was desperate to find some comfort for me. Coincidentally, another couple came in and refused for one of them to have to seat behind the pillar. Told take it ir wait a hour. Yikes. We will stick to TS in FL.
Be the first to ReplyWorth every penny
If you're a sucker for disney like we are you'll love this. Now it is on the pricey side but in my opinion the quality of everything was super good so we really didn't mind the cost. We opted for both of our drinks in the collectable tiki mugs (you can opt without and save some money) but I'd highly recommend getting the mug! They're a great collectable, good quality and worth the money 100%. The drinks themselves were delicious, well mixed and genuinely really tasty. The piranha pool was both of our favourite and a must do if you like Pina coladas. In terms of food we got the chicken gyozas and the fried beans, both were absolutely delicious. The panko beans especially were to do for, and the sauce they came with really finished them off. The portion of these beans is huge too so be aware 🤣 The highlight of the bar really though is the atmosphere. The staff react to different drinks being served, changing lighting and sounds as well as giving there own commentary. I ordered a shipwreck and was sprayed with a spritz water bottle while stormy winds played 🤣
Be the first to ReplyThe worst service at Disneyland by far
The service from the bartenders at Trader Sam's was absolutely atrocious. They moped around behind the bar, hating their jobs and hating the fact that you are there. We sat at the bar feeling totally invisible to the staff, and when we did finally get some service, it felt like we were nothing by an inconvenience to them. It was the worst staff interaction I had during my 3 night stay at the Disneyland Hotel or the park. I will not be back, but at least the bartenders might be happy about that.
Be the first to ReplyHawaiian platters were good
Because we are staying at the Disneyland Hotel (Adventure Tower) this week (July 31 to August 5), we wanted a couple of nights where we didn’t have to walk all the way back to the parks for dinner. Last night (August 3), we came here. Fortunately, we had reservations as this place on the inside is small. Our first server, Nicole, was great who took our order. After that, she told us Matt will take over. He then largely ignored us. As for dinner, we each ordered the Hawaiian platter. My wife’s protein was the short ribs and mine was the teriyaki chicken. Both were really good. We were just in Hawaii and it made me realize we didn’t eat a lot of Hawaiian food there! Finally a note on the temperature of the place. It’s really cold so you may need to wear something with long sleeves.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place to grab a drink and have some laughs
I walked up with no reservation and was able to get a solo seat at the bar in minutes. The staff was super friendly and funny. The drink I got was very strong (tiki la casita). There’s interactive thematics that happen when you order certain drinks, it can get loud. Overall, loved it

larry ordered the ramen and i ordered the cheeseburger but changed to ramen. wwow this could actually be the best ramen ive ever had. even for disney i was surprised. and it was spicy enough but not over spicy. it was great. im glad i changed
Be the first to ReplyTiki Dinner at the Mouse House
Last night in the parks and we walked our tired Disney legs over for a late meal. Wow, was it great! I had the pu pu plater(wings, dumplings, fried green beans and macaroni salad), girlfriend had the Hawaiian platter(short ribs, rice, macaroni salad and cold slaw). Service was great! Food was great! I love that Polynesian BBQ sauce(I think it’s teriyaki based?). Washed mine down with a very rummy drink called the Krakatoa. Highly recommended stop! We did have some confusion over what seats were Tangaroa Terrace and which were Trader Sam’s…just ask the host for a table no matter what and avoid the back and forth.

OMG! This place is one of the best bars I've ever been to. I haven't been here since 2012 and after having a wonderful lunch here, it makes me sad that I haven't been in for drinks or food more often. I had the poke bowl with ahi tuna and that is one of the best poke bowls I've ever had. It's so flavorful! I also had the Angolada to drink....and I'll just say if you want a good, strong drink? This is the one! My folks and my hubby who had never been to Trader Sam's were delighted not only with the food and drink, but the entertainment inside of the bar and the bartenders. It has such a fun vibe to it all. It's like taking the Tiki Room at Disneyland and adding drinks and food. I love this place and I can't wait to come back again on my next visit! Reservations are necessary, so please keep that in mind before you take your trip.

An adult evening, with fancy drinks and a pu pu platter, was a great diversion after three days in the parks. Clever surroundings and an equally clever waiter made it all very fun.
Be the first to ReplyJuan was a great server
Awesome place with a quick 20 minute wait when the family arrived at around 5 o’clock. When we left there was a line into the jungle. Our server Juan was excellent. Bought tiki drinks and mugs. Live music on the patio was great!
Be the first to ReplyBusy Themed Bar/Cafe
Meet up with family here with a combination of mobile orders and in person orders. The mobile order was placed way earlier and took longer than the in person order. The place was just way to busy because it’s the only place to eat at the hotel besides Goofy’s Kitchen. The food was good, but not great. It wasn’t the worst experience, but I wouldn’t want to go here again.

People love this place. So cool. I want to love this place. But the last time I went, a member of our party was stuck behind one of the poles at the corners of the bar. Not only were they unable to enjoy the cacophony of the place, the bartenders ignored them, no place for their appetizer, and they flet excluded even though they were right next to the rest of us.
Frankly, the service for the rest of us was lackluster too.
We cancelled our second reservation for 3 days later and not sure I will return, even though I love tiki bars.
Nice outdoor area
We did not have reservations but were staying at the Disneyland Hotel and wanted to get lunch. They were able to seat us outside on the small patio connected to the patio of the other restaurant. The food was very good and we loved the drinks and getting a pricey mug to take home.
Be the first to ReplyIt's open and pretty good
Luckily we had a reservation. We (mom, dad, 10 year old) were sat within minutes. The people who didn't have reservations were being quoted 90 minutes - 120 minutes. We were sat inside. Super fun, lively environment. Loved the sangria. Absolutely loved the ramen. Disappointed in chicken wings and long beans. Also, service :( Our waitress probably had too much on her plate (the norm nowadays). She was nice and did try, but it wasn't great service. Super easy access from Downtown Disney. It was fun to eat here once, but once was really enough.
Be the first to ReplyTrader Sam's is OPEN!!
One of our favorites! From the great food and drinks to the whole tiki vibe, this is a fantastic way to cap off a long day at the parks.
Be the first to ReplyThis place has Drinks !!!!
This hidden tiki bar is attached to Tangaroa Terrace located inside the courtyard of the Disneyland Hotel. if you look towards the Adventure tower from the pool you will see the building, much easier to see at night when all the tiki torches are light up. The entrance to Trader Sam's is towards the Frontier tower side near the large outdoor fire pit area. They offer some food along with indoor and out door seating. While we were there they had live entertainment, two playing ukulele's and singing songs. The indoor seating are is small and so is the outdoor area. The adult drinks are amazingly good. They are strong enough to feel the alcohol, but not so strong your need to bring out your inner sailor to choke the first one down. If you go for the UH-OA prepare to share it with a friend. Theses pictures were from our trip in December of 18, but it wouldn't let me post that date (I just didn't want the straw freak-out in the comments).

It’s a good place to sit and have a cocktail. The atmosphere is one of a kind and you’ll want to make a trip out there!
Be the first to ReplyPoke was yummy - Pago Pago cocktail?
I really enjoyed my poke onolicious, my Pago Pago cocktail though needs some work I believe. My colleague and I both agreed on that. Will be back to see if next round has improved! Shared with much alofa - aloha!
Be the first to ReplyWelcome to Our Tropical Hideaway You lucky People, You
I have always been a fan of all things Disney, and all things Hawaii. If you're having withdrawals from either, I would highly recommend Trader Sam's, if not for the food and drinks, for the atmosphere.
The drinks are really pretty tasty, but more importantly (for me at least), they're really pretty! I love something about a beautiful, frosty drink.
I mostly come here for the live music, tiki torches, and just sitting back and taking a big breath in the middle of the Disney hustle and bustle. Being tucked away in the Disneyland Hotel has its perks, because you can enjoy a full day of crowds and Mickey, then sneak away on property and feel like you've found your own tropical hideaway.
The reason I can't give the location a full 5-stars is the food. The chicken was pretty undercooked, and the rest of the food lacked flavor. But, it won't stop me from coming back again and again.
The best part? The live music! Sit outside, sip on some tropical flavors, and enjoy the sounds of the island.
Welcome to our tropical hideaway
Intimate, tropical bar with amazing drinks and a unique atmosphere. Ordering certain drinks will trigger certain effects in the bar, all of which are lots of fun and add to the ambience. Great service with fab recommendations. Souvenir mugs are optional. Wish my luggage space would have allowed for me to bring back a couple!
