I hesitate to write this review and add Dalla Rosa Alda to
I hesitate to write this review and add Dalla Rosa Alda to the pages of yelp. Â I want the beautiful town of San Giorgio and this trattoria all to myself! Â This is the kind of restaurant which you only find by recommendation of exacting food loving locals. Â We were lucky enough to meet such a person on our trip to Verona and a tour of the Allegrini winery. No review of Dalla Rosa Alda would be complete without a short descirption of the village San Giorgio. Â A narrow and winding road brings you to the top of a mountain. (hill?) Â As far as I could tell the town has a deli, a cafe, a church, perhaps a hotel or two, and this fine restaurant. Â But, most importantly, breathtaking views of Lake Garda and the Valpolicella region wineries. Here's a brief rundown of the food sampled:Pasta e fagioli soup - I had a bad "bean" experience as a child, so my appreciation for the tender morsels has been slow to recover as an adult. Â Further experiences with poorly prepared versions of pasta e fagioli in the States hasn't helped. Â If I was going to learn to love this traditional Italian soup, then now was the time. Â Here, the soup was perfectly seasoned with firm bites of pasta throughout. Â Still more bean than pasta for my taste, but the excellence in preparation showed through. Â My wife loved it.Risotto - As is common in the Verona area, no restaurant will prepare Risotto for you unless you are willing to wait 20+ minutes and order more than 2 plates. Â This was our last night and we couldn't wait any longer to try it, despite our usual aversion to ordering the same dish. Â We were rewarded with some of the best risotto I have ever had.Slow cooked beef and polenta - Hugely rich in flavor cut with your fork beef with a side of oh so sticky creamy polenta.Lamb chops - Medium rare in the center, lightly seasoned, perfectly charred bone. Â Like little meat lollipops. So that's it. Â A hidden gem, revealed. Â I'm mostly writing this review for selfish reasons in case I lose the business card. Â But, perhaps some fellow yelpers will appreciate the goodness that is Dalla Rosa Alda....
