The much-vaunted Ristorante da Omero is just a distant and faded memory of what once was. If you are looking for true dishes of the Florentine culinary tradition, with unmistakable flavors and cooked with skill, well, change destination, this is not the restaurant for your good palate!!! A necessary premise, as the owner of a hospitality business, located in the historic center of Florence, I do not write reviews out of respect for the work of others but my total negative experience on Christmas Eve pushes me, alas, to proceed with a..." I uncork to the rule": Seated at a reserved table for 4 diners, we prepare to forward the order to the Waiter, who, with "forgetfulness" - I don't want to write due to lack of professionalism - does not light the "lie" of the centerpiece. Within a few minutes we were served: Their "typical" Chickpea Soup "washed out", cold and which I would define anonymous, in taste, Pappardelle, (plain), with duck sauce... with a taste more similar to chicken than duck and "drowned" in a "triumph" of two fingers of oil and of bad quality at that. Penne Strascicate worthy of the worst Festival or Unity Festival of the 1980s. Appalled at how similar dishes can be served in a restaurant that defines itself, as reported on their website, "... Typical Tuscan Cuisine.." the same waiter, only between the first and second courses, asks us, disarmingly and guilty forgetfulness, if we liked some wine! The dinner continues with the serving of even more second courses, and we thought it was not possible, worse than what we had already "tasted": Ossibucco with a bland taste but above all incredibly pre-cooked, heated more similar to a stew and worthy, in terms of preparation, more of a company canteen than of a typical Tuscan cuisine restaurant! Fritto Misto prepared with "rubbery" batter and fried with the usual low quality rancid oil already mentioned in the duck "pappardelle". Beef fillet, which despite the request for rare, was "stringy" and not worthy of Florentine cuisine. Side dish of fried vegetables consisting of aubergines, courgettes and artichokes (only two pieces), inedible due to the usual nauseating taste of old oil used several times. Cake and coffee... not received... we got up before the "diligent" waiter came to offer us other courses which, of typical and good Tuscan cuisine, are only the distant memory of what the Omero Restaurant was...
