I had dinner at this restaurant and firstly want to make it clear I think this is a wonderful restaurant. But I can only compare it to the experience I had at Vestry 2 nights before and my preference was for that restaurant in many areas.
We had a reservation for 7 pm and tried to go to the restaurant for drinks with another group of friends. It restaurant did not have room for us as they were fully booked. That was not the issue...it was how the host/manager told us....it kind of felt like "we are full booked, there is no way we would have room to accommodate you earlier". Even when we got to the restaurant, the management style was much more business like rather than welcoming at Vestry.
Our server Sarah was really friendly and attentive so no complaints there. I would say their wine list is not as extensive as Vestry's and not as many interesting by the glass options (but that could be just personal preference)
The menu is also smaller than Vestry but everything I thought was spectacular but just a tad not as refined as compared to Vestry. For the appetizers, we tried the Egg, Chicken Liver, Morel and Quail. My favourites were the chicken liver and morel which are both beautifully presented, fun and delicious.
For the mains, we had the Wagyu Beef and Snow Crab. Both were well made but didn't knock it out of the park.
In general, the vibe of the restaurant did not seem as casual and welcoming as Vestry. That may have played a bit of a role in my perception of the food but I thought the food was good, there were some real winners but not enough that I would think this is a 1 star Michelin restaurant.
I would still think it is good restaurant to go to and perhaps others will get a different vibe than I felt. See my full review on my Youtube channel
