Great food, fast service, and a cool interior.
The standouts of our meal were the crab tofu, pork trotters, and the rose lychee panna cotta. The pork trotters in particular were melt-in-your-mouth tender, and had some amazing richness. The only thing I wouldn't get again here was the dim sum platter - the veggie dumplings were not good and everything else on it was basic. Prices are a little high, but Uluh definitely delivers. The dishes all have amazing, authentic flavors, and the overall experience was super satisfying.

We ordered peach oolong tea w whipped cheese foam, glazed Peking duck, mini pumpkin puffs, crispy pork, pork belly with bell pepper, salted egg yolk dumplings, rose lychee panna cotta and passion fruit pistachio mouse. All were AMAZING except the mouse. It was not our cup of tea. Good service. Def come back when we are in nyc.

My favorite Chinese restaurant in the city! Food: Food was super tasty and doesn't hold back on spice! The vegetable dry pot is a lot more high quality that Mala Project and it's a lot spicier too!! The steamed chicken in chili oil was also really good, although the sauce on top was a little too salty. The sesame dumplings were a nice twist on the classic xiao long bao and was a great balance between sweet and savory. Finally, the beef stew was yummy as well although it was drowned in chili oil. Service:Service is always great. The wait can range from no wait for Sunday lunch to a 1.5 hour wait for dinner on a Wednesday night. Ambiance: I've only sat in the front of the restaurant, but the ambiance was nice! It's just really squished, especially with people trying to get to their bench seats on either sides of the table.

I visited Uluh during my NYC trip and it was an amazing meal! For drinks, I highly recommend trying their Rose Oolong Tea with Whipped Cheese Foam - the foam was incredibly creamy and the oolong taste was strong but not overpowering. The Mini Pumpkin Puff was a unique twist on traditional dim sum. The skin was chewy and had a light pumpkin taste, and I loved the salted egg filling.I also got the Brown Sugar Glazed Peking Duck, and it did not disappoint. The skin was crispy, and the meat was tender. The sauce was great, and the refreshing veggies were a perfect complement. I especially loved the texture of the whole wrap - it was just the right amount of chewy.Lastly, I tried the Crab Tofu, which was probably my favorite dish of the meal. The crab flavor was strong, and I loved the combination of crab and tofu. The tofu was buttery smooth and melted in my mouth.Overall, my experience at Uluh was great, and I would definitely come back to try their other dishes!
Be the first to ReplyThey say it's the best Chinese restaurant in Manhattan.
I would agree it's pretty good overall . Good presentation of food, good design of the interiors. Service is not bad, fast too. The food itself is not amazing, but still delicious. 1. Crab tofu is meh 2. Pork feet is good but a bit spicy 3. The pork stomach soup is good, but too much msg. 4 pumpkin dessert is special. Make sure you order enough food.

Tl;dr: good vibes, huge portions, lovely experienceWas recommended to us by a friend and did not disappoint! I love their variety of dishes from different regions and cute decor. And also, look at how good these portions are!! We ordered:- Boneless Pork Trotters: this one was my favorite; the pork trotters were cooked soo soft and flavorful with the perfect spicy/numbing combo. - Shanghai Pork Soup Dumplings: tasted quite authentic which I enjoyed; love the thin wrappings and pouch of soup inside! - Crab Tofu: so easy to eat; light crab flavor; soft melt-in-your-mouth tofu; I ate A LOT of this dish- Salted Egg Yolk Chashu: super cute to look at but honestly didn't taste too special; felt the meat was a bit dry.Wanted to try so many other things on their menu but no stomach was saved even for dessert. I enjoyed the dimmed ambience and left feeling so full + satisfied. Excited to come back again when I visit! :)

Came on a Wednesday night and was able to be seated with no reservation. However, the restaurant got really crowded quick. When I first entered, I was told that they don't allow outside drink so I quickly drank my milk tea and then got seated. Then halfway through my dinner, they sat a party of 3 next to me and each one of them had a large bubble tea not from the restaurant..so...the rule applies to whoever they want I guessI ordered truffle soup dumplings and the colorful ones. They were okay. Not the worst, not the best Also got the beef in chili oil. Again, not bad but not the bestThe best thing was the purple potato pancake. Came freshly fried and super crunchy. Inside was soft and not overly sweetThe restaurant is very busy so try it yourself and make your own judgment. Maybe you'll like the food better than I did. Also bring an outside drink and see if the staff will say anything to you

This place gives me the flavors I'm looking for when I crave szechuan food. They had a perfect level of spicey in their dishes, enough to feel a mild sting but not too much to where you can't taste the other flavors. If you're a hot chili oil lover like me, you'll love their dishes. For our entrees we ordered the fish in hot chili oil, beef tripe in hot chili oil, eggplant in garlic sauce with woodear, and sweet and sour pork to share. For dessert, we got the rose lychee panna cotta and mango juice sago pomelo with mochi. The mango juice sago tasted fresh, and the elements in the rose lychee dessert complimented each other so well- that one was my favorite. It was rose ice cream with lychee and sweet cream cheese. Amazing. LOVED this place! I walked in here with two friends on a Friday night and although it was busy the wait was only about 20 minutes. Good service and beautiful fancy decor as well.

Would recommend. Here's what I got that was enough for two people:-boneless pork feet-pecking duck -mini pumpkins -two rice balls-zang zang milk with brown sugar Would come back again!

Matcha Zang Zang pairs so nicely with the chilli oil and peppercorn dishes.

Wow in love with Uluh, perfect the modern take on Szechuan dining! We came on Superbowl Sunday so was seated immediately upon arriving, but I've heard wait times get long. The ambiance is sleek and dimly lit, absolutely love the unique silverware and dining dishes here too. One of the highlight dishes was the colorful soup dumplings, which not only looks super cute but each color has a different flavor skin to it. They definitely play into Szechuan cuisine in making spicier flavors like chili for the red one and wasabi for the green one. The drinks here are to die for, especially the hot rose sake and oolong cocktail, which comes out in a tray/mini pitcher/cup set, reminiscent of tea ceremony vibes. Didn't get to try any of the teas here, but they have an authentic selection of high mountain oolongs that look amazing, they even label the elevations of each tea on the menu!

Come here for lunch when it's less crowded given they don't take reservations. Loud clubby kinda music and minimalist black slate design with great lighting makes this attractive restaurant a great dining experience. The fish with spicy broth and pickled what nots was great. And I've never had a crab tofu like that. Our only complaint is the soup dumplings were served broken - the soup fell out! So that was no fun. But the service was fast and smiling and the food was otherwise great.
