Expectations too high
Very nice and well-kept restaurant with a truly unique location but the food is not up to what they describe and then they expect you to pay in the bill, I'm sorry because they could do much more

Sorry and a little disappointed... The view from the restaurant is really very beautiful but I don't like the style of the restaurant itself. Very friendly and helpful waiters. You can find a complete menu from starters to desserts or choose à la carte. So I was really disappointed by how it was eaten, nothing can be said about the raw material because it was of high quality but the combination that the sheff proposed for his dishes is basic without ideas. Then some courses were very salty and another lacked salt. Given the way the restaurant stands and the price it charges, unfortunately the menu is not up to par.

Given the level of the restaurant, while appreciating the "attention" (12% discount on the total) to remedy the incident, it remains absolutely unacceptable to find numerous small bones in the rabbit ragout and thus risk ending up at the dentist.

The view is the only good thing about this restaurant. I said it was the anniversary dinner and he wasn't interested in the slightest. Other places, especially restaurants of this level, would have at least written "happy anniversary" on the dessert plate but for them nothing! even in another very famous place on the island last year they offered us dessert! It was the worst money spent of our entire stay on the island. The raw game didn't taste like anything other than the "deconstructed bruschetta", the risotto wasn't bad but we could easily eat it anywhere else spending 1/4, the tagliolini with lemon and prawns were tagliolini with lemon which the stalls sell like souvenir from the island with two shrimps. The dessert wasn't bad, but nothing special. We paid and at the exit no one even greeted us after we spent €180 and ate badly! We absolutely wasted our money, there are much better places than this and with a better view and different treatment.

Let me start by saying that I chose this place thanks to the Michelin guide, because on holiday I love to eat well and feel good. I booked a table for 4 people, including 2 adults and 2 children, well in advance, requesting the possibility of sitting close to the terrace. I was advised to sit inside with the children, with a large window overlooking the sea, I imagined in case it was windy, and therefore they were pressed towards us. Once we got there I was given a table on the terrace, but not as I had asked for, that is, in the center of the terrace. Not being a grudge, I promptly communicated my desire to stay close to the terrace, overlooking the sea, having communicated it well in advance, but I was denied by justifying that children are "normally" not allowed on the terrace. Oh well... I accept the conditions of a "rigorous" restaurant and continue with dinner. We ate well. Ordered 2 hot starters and 4 starters. It's a shame that in their rigor one of the two appetizers was served by mistake as a second course. I believe that with such rigor and with those prices, you cannot afford to make mistakes. I ate well but I wasn't well. I will not return.

A Starred review on Fodor’s Travel book, boy did they drop the ball. Wow, what a huge disappointment. This was a Fodor’s travel book started review & choice?? Don’t believe everything you read. We arrived at 7:30 pm and they had already run out of the Lamb. The red wine by the glass tasted like vinegar, and the only other option was to purchase a bottle. My wife had the house white which was ok.This restaurant caters HEAVILY to Local clientele, as it was obvious the attention that was given to the table 10 feet away from us. We had to beg the waitress every time we wanted olive oil for our bread and she would leave a tiny drizzle on a small plate! After a 4 day stay at the Mezzatorre Resort & Spa we saved this restaurant for our last night in Ischia, hoping for the best. Food portions were very small, and not seasoned up to par. My wife had the fresh catch of the day, and panzenella salad. The fish portion was SMALL especially for a main course and also very bland, but the salad was of descent size and very good. All in all NOT a good value for the money, best for drinks and a view! Better options along waterfront in Forio. I had the rabbit pasta stew, which tasted dry and bland & came with a bare minimum of sauce. I was hugely disappointed, especially when we had passed many other waterfront dining options close by that were heavily attended.

Fabulous setting and great food giving a modern slant on classics. Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, we opted for one of the fish based menus, each dish was excellent and elegantly presented, the risotto was gorgeous! Of course you pay considerably more than the norm for this innovative and delicate cooking with great views but it was worth it for a special treat!
Be the first to Replynice view but space for food improvements
The amount and quality of the food taken the price into account was not in harmony. The food itself was not hot and without taste

We were so blown away by the view and had a beautiful dinner, but the food didn’t overly wow us. We brought our 4 year old child and didn’t think it was overly pretentious for kids. The restaurant was very accommodating. We were sat outside on the rail, I thought I would fall off the cliff! (In the best way because it’s so gorgeous) I agree with previous reviewer, the wine was over priced. We decided to do an a la carte menu because we liked different things from different tasting menus and it seemed like all the options were available a la carte. The winner was the paccheri with rabbit ragu! Shockingly! We also loved the calamari with lemon and thyme as well as the acqua pazzo. While we loved those dishes, we were underwhelmed with the linguine with lobster and sea bass. They were good - but nothing out of the ordinary. Would say to go for the view for sure.

Wonderful place. Great food. Amazing sunset view. Nice service. We highly recommend this restaurant, both for quality of food, service and view!!!

Our hotel recommended this restaurant for the best sunset view and food. The view was good but in my opinion, there are lots of great views on Ischia/in the Amalfi region. The food...what to say about the food - we love seafood but there was nothing special about the dishes we had and they were below average. When you take into account the prices and the portion size, we are full of regret haha. We were not full and decided not to listen to hotel recommendations again (maybe they get a commission for making guest bookings?). We will remember this experience as being style over substance, making a big dent in the wallet and eating all the bread provided to fill us up! Oh well, you live and learn :)
Be the first to ReplyGreat menu, awesome fish tartar
We came for a dinner at my wife’s birthday and with the quality of the restaurant it is needles to say that the food was excellent. I liked the fish tartar the most: very simple with great taste and went well with the menus shampange. Is there is something negative I would say that you should forbit smoking also in the outside eating areas. It was not a problem with us (luckily winds), but we talked about it and I am sure it will bother many customers.
Be the first to ReplyLovely restaurant, delicious food
We had a lovely evening at this elegant restaurant with a beautiful view of the sea. The service was attentive and warm, but never pretentious or intrusive. We had a beautiful table overlooking the sea and the Ischia coast, with a delightful breeze that kept us comfortable. The food was consistently very good -- we were especially pleased by how light and fresh it all was. I had scalded squid with lemon as an appetizer -- delicious -- and an especially divine tuna with a sesame crust as my main. My husband had a really distinctive parmesan as an appetizer and lamb chops for his main, which he too loved. Although the restaurant was full, we never felt rushed; everything was timed pleasantly and appropriately. The place is expensive, as others have commented, but it seemed worth the splurge to us. We would happily return.
