Versailles Restaurant Cuban Cuisine Miami Reviews from The Last Year
The food was mediocre.
They had a special appetizer of fried seafood. Most of it was bland except for one item but I don't know what it was. My Versailles sandwich (a Cuban with some really thin chorizo slice) was virtually tasteless. I'll never go back.
Loved the Cuban food
The food was lovely and the staff were really nice. I would definitely come back if I went back to Miami. The place was full of locals and it has parking available.
Not what I expected
This place is not what it’s hyped up to be. It may even be a tourist trap as I can’t imagine many Miamians dining there. I’ve had better (more flavorful) Cuban food in Miami with bigger portions at better prices. Upon arrival, the restaurant is large with old fashioned floor tiles but the ambiance of cheap plastic-top tables without tablecloths and low ceilings feels more like a large cafeteria with annoying unsupervised young children running around and some diners on their speaker phone. The food was disappointing; Ropa Vieja was not very good; It was mainly peppers in tomato sauce with very little meat in a kid-size portion. For the sides - two petite slices of plantains with a small portion of white rice (no black beans which cost extra and tasted flavorless). We also ordered Cordon Bleu which was just okay but again small portion and the yellow rice was awful. We thought the bakery goods would bring relief but of three desserts we tried; dried inedible custard pastry, cream pastry, and cannoli (made with cream cheese dip ugh!), we threw most of it away. The building may be worth a one-time visit but the food needs major improvement.
The food was excellent on our first time visiting Miami.
We had a great time with family.
Wow! So this was my first time trying Cuban cuisine and I
Wow! So this was my first time trying Cuban cuisine and I am in love. The service, the food was all great. The food came out within 20 minutes and was piping hot! We were pleased with not only the wait time but how the food tasted. I originally came in because of the ratings I saw on Yelp and after visiting I understand. If in Miami, Versailles if definitely the place to visit!
Food was ok, nothing super special.
Ordered the western omelet, it lacked a bit of taste, the potatoes were good. The pancakes were good, again nothing super special. Also, ordered a Spanish empanada and the croquette those were delicious.
We door dashed dinner during a quick stay in Coral Gables.
Ordered two Cuban sandwiches, tres leches cake, and chocolate cake. The Cubans were great, as to be expected, and any complaints I have is related to the time it took to get the order from the door dash driver (which wasn't very long at all!). I think the total time from order to delivery was maybe 45 ish minutes? Not bad considering we didn't have to leave our hotel! The tres leches cake was also amazing, lots of extra milk! The chocolate cake was also good, and not overly sweet. Very rich. That was my husband's choice, he really liked it, but I would not have been able to finish the whole piece due to its richness. (Not a complaint, just not my personal preference.) But I loved dipping my piece into my extra tres leches milk!!
Delicious Cuban cuisine.
Ropa vieja was a favorite. Wilma was an efficient, knowledgeable & friendly waitress!
The food was terrific! I got the pork with the rice and
The food was terrific! I got the pork with the rice and black beans. It was pretty tasty. The Paloma was also pretty good, but let's be honest, I really only came for that delicious authentic Cuban bread. Once they brought it out I proceeded to eat all of it, not sharing any at all ;). Good ambience, good food, worth your time if you like Cuban food.
Best and Most Iconic Restaurant in Miami
Food here is awesome. Roast pork with rice and beans, amazing. The service is great. No matter how crowded it is, you get in fairly quickly and the service is friendly. We also go for breakfast, where you can get fresh squeezed orange juice, warm pastelitos, and your choice of amazing cuban coffee.
We came yesterday around 530pm and first off I was
We came yesterday around 530pm and first off I was surprised by the ample amount of parking space which is always a plus! As we walked in , we were greeted and seated right away. Good timing since we were seated close to the front door , I can see how people were continuously coming in for dinner so you know food must be good. For drinks, my husband and I ordered the pinacolada and my son ordered the chocolate shake. For the pinacolada, it was good, the chocolate shake nothing really special about it. We ordered the empanadas for appetizer, the chicken was my favorite. I love the crispy crust . For the main course, we ordered the paella Versailles, which I thought was a little wet for my taste, just a lot of sauce I guess? It came with a side sweet plantains which were delicious. My husband ordered the roasted chicken with mojo rice and plantains also. It also came with garlic butter which he put all over his chicken . My son had the steak sandwich with fries and he kept saying the fries tasted like McDonald fries lol. The portions were pretty generous. I was thinking since we drove all the way from key west, we'd have the appetite but still had a lot of leftover. The place was really old school vibe, seems huge inside and out, just looking at the parking lot pretty sure they can accommodate hundreds. We'll be back for sure to try the other food on the menu! The price was decent too!!! I can't complain. Only thing was the service was a little slow. I'd still come back tho just to add, their flan and cheesecake dress were the bomb! Actually had to order thru DoorDash to get the desserts again the next day!
Over-Rated Restaurant
We had high hopes for this restaurant. We were disappointed. We ordered the palomilla steak and vaca frita. Both of our meals came out cold. The rice and plantains were good. My appetizer never came out and we were charged for it despite informing our server before the check came. We would not return.
wonderful vibe
We had an amazing family dinner at Versailles Restaurant. The ambiance was lively yet cozy, with tasteful décor and a warm, inviting atmosphere. The staff were not only friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, guiding me through their authentic Cuban offerings. The prices were very reasonable considering the high quality of the food. Each dish we tried was a culinary delight, showcasing fresh ingredients and exquisite flavors. Overall, it was a memorable dining experience that I would highly recommend to anyone.
What a way to get back on my reviews by starting with this
What a way to get back on my reviews by starting with this TOP TIER CUBAN RESTAURANT!!! My wife and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary, so we are prepping to set sail on our cruise. We both wanted to try some Cuban food and we heard Versailles is the best, it did not disappoint! The service was phenomenal! Our server was on point, patient and resourceful! My wife had the Strawberry Pina Colada, which she stated was amazing! I had the margarita, now I've had margaritas all over the world, but this one right here!!! Tops them all!! My wife had the Shrimp Paellas which was bomb!!! Wife let me try it and we loved it. I had the Chicken Versailles and ABSOLUTELY THE BEST!! Whenever we come back to Miami I'm coming back here! The energy, the atmosphere, the people were so nice! Dancing outside to Cuban music made this experience worth it!!
Cuban experience🇨🇺
Dining at this Cuban restaurant was a fantastic experience. The moment I walked in, the lively atmosphere and vibrant décor transported me straight to Havana. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making me feel right at home. I started with a refreshing mojito, perfectly balanced with just the right amount of mint and lime. The menu was full of authentic Cuban dishes, and I decided to try the ropa vieja. It was absolutely delicious, with tender shredded beef simmered in a rich, flavorful tomato sauce. The sides of black beans and rice, along with sweet plantains, complemented the main dish perfectly. For dessert, the flan was a creamy, sweet treat that ended the meal on a high note. The live Cuban music added to the ambiance, making the evening even more enjoyable. I can't wait to return and try more dishes from their impressive menu.
Top as always
We ‘ ve been coming here, sporadically when on holiday, for the last 20 years- and it has always been great. The menu is vast but we never tasted a bad thing here. Compared to exorbitantly overpriced restaurants in Miami - this is is a real gem. Such a friendly service as well. I can only say: we love you guys - keep doing what you are doing!
Solid Cuban food
It was a wonderful experience and would recommend it for solo and family traveling. Food was good, not great but atmosphere made up for it
Not as good as it used to be, but still probably your best
Not as good as it used to be, but still probably your best bet for consistently good Cuban food. Been coming here almost every year for 10+yrs. It's good/above average Cuban food and still probably better than anything else in Miami, but definitely not as good as it used to be. The bistec empanizado was clearly made quite some time in advance, not bad but not fresh either. The boliche was decent flavor but very tough and was basically just 2 pieces of the roast and little bit if sauce, this dish used to come with the sauce and potatoes, onions, etc that the roast was cooked it, almost as good as the roast itself. And the frituras de bacalao were frozen. On the bright side, the standard Cuban sandwich is still the gold standard for Cuban sandwiches anywhere, as good as it's ever been, never disappoints. I was also disappointed to learn that they no longer make torrejas or buñuelos, 2 classic Cuban desserts, they said they don't sell very well but who knows...? Overall, not the best dinner I've had here but like I said, it's still likely better than anything else in Miami.
Worth the drive
This restaurant is always busy and for good reason. When you arrive you give your name to the host outside and have a seat on the patio. 30 minutes seems to be the average. Once inside you get seated you will see the wait staff are very efficient. Very quickly the magic arrives, food is fresh, hit and delicious. We’ve had pork, chicken and seafood dishes with rice, beans, fried plantains and sweet plantains. Meats are flavorful, marinated in citrus and moist. Sides are also delicious and nicely seasoned. Save room for dessert the dulce de leche cheesecake is our favorite.
Be careful if you have food allergies!
At the MIA E terminal gate Versailles, ordered a sandwich with no cheese due to medical condition. They gave a sandwich with cheese cooked into the bread. I told the lady I can’t eat cheese. She stated it didn’t have cheese. I opened up the sandwich and showed her the cheese, and I explained I can’t eat cheese at all. She then took the sandwich and started plucking the cooked in cheese out of the bread and handed it back to me. I then explained that I can’t have any cheese or contact with cheese in my food again. She got pretty irate and made a new sandwich after skimping on the other items. Very disappointing getting service that doesn’t take food allergies into consideration.
No Go
Friends forced me to come here. Loud and crowded. Food so so. Bakery was unimpressive. Some things were not labeled and numbers were called out in Spanish.
Lived up to the hype
Amazing coffee, guava and cheese pastry was a highlight too. Service was super friendly. We loved it and were very glad we made the trip to this iconic place.
Avoid This Restaurant
Not authentic Cuban food and not good food in general. The soup came luke warm and the Cuban sandwich was awful. We got one other dish (yucca) that was also terrible. Aside from the food, the ambience was zero.
terrible
The worst place to eat ,the Pan de Bono, taste terrible , It is a disgrace to the true Colombian bonus bread and the associates are the worst 👎
Good Cuban Food
Came in her for dinner and drinks. Had a very good meal with a friendly waiter and staff. There was a long wait for a table but you can sit outside and order drinks while waiting. Prices were very good (except for the drinks which were a bit expensive). Overall a good meal but much better Cuban restaurants in Miami. It is famous so worth checking out once.
Good but a bit overrated
Wanted to go here for the history of the place. It was nice to sit outside with a mojito while waiting for our table. The service was extremely fast. From the time we sat down till we left couldn't have been more than 30 minutes. They sure know how to move people through. The food was just "ok". We had the Versalies combo for an appetizer. The cilantro dipping sauce is what made them. Delicious! My husband and I both had the large version of their famous Cuban sandwich as a meal. It was huge! I took half my meal with me for the next day. It was good, the bread definitely made the sandwich. In my opinion, it was just a glorified ham sandwich. Glad I got to try it, but would not need to go back.
Not really worth the wait, but fun to experience once.
We arrived a little after 1pm on a Saturday afternoon, parked easily across the street and added our name to the wait list and were told to expect a 40 minute wait. It was quite crowded outside but there were plenty of tables with umbrellas available for seating. We sat at a table in the sunshine, chatting with others, until our name was called. Once inside the restaurant, it was quite a surprise to see such an outdated space that felt much more like a diner than a well known restaurant. As we were shown to the table, it almost felt like an airport tarmac, with hostesses using walkie talkies and waitresses waving down the party and pointing to where to sit. We were provided menus and when we ordered our meal, our waitress appeared very confused when I requested a Cuban sandwich without the bread (I am gluten free). Our appetizers arrived quickly and unfortunately, so did our entrees not even five minutes later. I was very sad to see my meal when it arrived- as it had not been heated. I had to flag down our waitress because the man that delivered our plates did not seem to understand my request to heat the meat and cheese. The sweet plantains were delicious, and the value of the food was unbeatable for Miami. We did need to request our check, which I found strange considering the huge wait outside. Overall, I’m glad that we experienced it once, but it’s not worth a repeat visit considering all of other options in the city.
A visit to remember our stay in Miami almost 50 years ago -- Versailles Restaurant still serves good food
The food was good and our grandchildren enjoyed their grilled fish dinner. My husband and I enjoyed remembering what it was like in Miami when we were last there in the late 70s. Versailles restaurant was part of that memory lane experience and was greatly enjoyed.

Good Afternoon. It looks like you have requested a name transfer for Carbone NY. Unfortunately, this is one of the restaurants that is almost impossible to do name changes for. They don’t accept phone calls so they are difficult to change the reservations that were booked online.
