After a way too long hiatus, Vespertine is back and as great as ever! While there were some very minor hiccups in the first two weeks of service as the new team finds there way, everyone was pretty amazing both in their hospitality and service. The food was stellar! Gorgeous and absolutely delicious, there wasn't a single miss. Our menu offered quail done three ways and that was our highlight. One thing that was new, was a valet parking charge at a lofty $20. Lofty because the lot was completely empty, save for the 10 tables of diners. Just be aware. We were so excited to have the opportunity to dine at Vespertine again and already look forward to a return visit!
Be the first to ReplyPlanned to visit back in 2020 but the lockdown ended that.
Four years later, we got in. Fantastic meal and excellent service. Thought the wine pairing option was a little on the pricy side for three glasses. Didn't realize the parking wasn't complementary and we were surprised to be asked for cash when we were leaving to cover it. For a restaurant that offers a complete experience, that was a little off-putting and that could easily be remedied by having the amount added on to the bill and handing a receipt to the valet. Luckily, between the two of us, we were able to come up with the amount without having to pull pennies out of the ashtray.

Their take away meals over the Covid period, that we had the opportunity to try, were quite special. Most unique, fun and delicious.

I had the immense pleasure of indulging in the Vespertine x The French Laundry dinner set a few months ago, paying tribute to the time when Chef Jordan Kahn honed his culinary prowess collaborating with Chef Thomas Keller. The thoughtful recreation of each dish was a testament to the skills of the kitchen, and I was struck by how exceptional the salad and seafood courses were. To achieve such culinary heights, solid cookery is a must. While Chef Kahn's traditional Vespertine menu may be avant-garde, the TFL meal demonstrated that he is undoubtedly a master of classical cookery. Overall, the Vespertine x The French Laundry dinner set is a gastronomic triumph, a rare and delectable treat for those fortunate enough to partake. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a taste of culinary excellence.Ive eaten here a handful of times. It's great for a date.DISH RATINGS:Carrot-ginger purée, Maine lobster pocket, and pea shoot salad. The carrot-ginger puree is smooth and silky, with the perfect balance of sweetness and spice. The Maine lobster pocket adds a luxurious and decadent texture to the dish, while the pea shoot salad adds a fresh and light element. 5/5Haricot verts, tomato tartare, and frisée. The dish is a work of art, with the vibrant colors and intricate plating. The haricot verts are cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of crunch and tenderness. The tomato tartare is a delightful surprise, bursting with flavors of tomato and herb. The frisée adds a refreshing and bitter note, perfectly complementing the other flavors on the plate. 4/5Lettuce Gratin is a dish that I never knew I needed in my life until now. The lettuce is cooked to perfection, with a subtle smokiness that adds depth to the dish. The creamy and cheesy sauce is rich and indulgent, making this dish a true comfort food experience. 5/5Parker house rolls with Bordier butter are simple yet exquisite. The rolls are warm and fluffy, with a subtle sweetness that perfectly complements the richness of the Bordier butter. 5/5Pot de feu with short ribs and root vegetables is a hearty and comforting dish that is perfect for a chilly evening. The short ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender, and the root vegetables add a rustic and earthy element to the dish. The broth is rich and flavorful, making this dish a true soul-warming experience. 5/5English pea gnudi. The gnudi is light and fluffy, with a delicate texture that melts in your mouth. The English peas add a fresh and sweet element, while the sauce is creamy and indulgent. This dish is the perfect balance of lightness and richness, making it a true masterpiece. 5/5Overall, the dining experience at Vespertine is a journey through a different realm of culinary artistry. Each dish is a work of art, meticulously crafted to perfection. The ambiance is surreal, making you feel as though you've entered a dreamlike world. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a truly unique and unforgettable dining experience.

I'm not used to dining at fine restaurants, but my experience at Vespertine was truly exceptional. The small, beautifully presented courses with accompanying wine pairings were a series of unforgettable taste experiences. Before my taste buds had a chance to become accustomed to one course, the next flavorful dish was presented. The 12-course meal was a true masterpiece of culinary art and left me completely satisfied. I have a new appreciation for what true culinary art is thanks to Vespertine.

Had so many exceptional meals from Vespertine during the pandemic and cannot wait to visit in person once they reopen. Everything was exquisitely and beautifully prepared and presented, attention to detail was impressive, and dishes were nothing short of delicious. The chefs have a wide range and are exceptionally talented.

Like a 5 Diamond Spa experience for your palate. Patiently waiting for in-house dining to reopen so I can take my parents here.
Be the first to ReplyThis review is for the Vespertine take-out: Baja.
When do you get to do take-out from a Michelin restaurant? Rarely. Had to do it. Pickup was smooth and streamlined, they are a well-oiled machine.First off, I spent 30 minutes just unpacking and organizing everything. It was clear that this was not going to be a walk in the park. Despite being incredibly well-packed, and labeled with clear instructions, I couldn't help but feel stressed about the whole thing. When you take away the experience of the evening with the ambiance and just focus on the food, it loses a bit of its luster. Was the food good? Yes. Was it more than we needed to eat? Absolutely. We ate leftovers for days thereafter (if you're thinking of doing the addons because you don't think it will be enough food, think again...). Will I try again with the next theme? Yep. It was a unique experience for take out.

Since the start of the pandemic, I have picked up meals at Vespertine 27 times. Every meal has been a memorable experience- in the best possible way. The staff is courteous and efficient, the food perfectly packaged with excellent instructions on reheating or cooking the food at home. And we also find the portions very generous. Sign up for the emails so you will be notified when they have a new offering. And be sure to check out the wine and cocktails offered to accompany the meal.

This restaurant defines the worst service, dining experience, personal interaction and business acumen I personally have ever experienced. Even awarding this establishment one star doesn't do justice to my experience. I cannot recommend highly enough that you avoid this business at all costs.

Ever since the COVID pandemic began in March 2020 the Vespertine Take Out program has been the highest echelon of take out we have ever had. We have had it now approximately 7 times and every time it has felt like a community service to take home meals. The pricing is modest, even low, for what is provided as a take home experience. The presentation is nothing short of impressive. The staff are always very polite and gentle. The reservations for each program seem to be only a couple days far in advance (for those that like to plan ahead) and they don't sell out fast which is very nice. The program has always changed and the creativity of the art shines with soul at every turn. My take out experience with vespertine has completely changed my opinion of vespertine. Highly recommend the take out program. Get it while it's still happening.

This one is long overdue: I'm not sure we could have gotten through the pandemic without the Vespertine takeout dinners. We did not miss one.We spent a lot of time looking to create special nights while essentially in lock down and tried take out from all of the best restaurants in Los Angeles that we could find. While many of those others were good, some were disappointing. Which is understandable, for high level chefs who are used to cooking ala minute to suddenly shift to food that is going to travel, sit, wait, get cold or need to be reheated by a diner is a very difficult thing to do.So the credit to Chef Kahn and his staff for not just diving head first into this new way of serving food, but refining it each and every time can't be understated. They got better. Each and every menu, month after month. I'm sure there were soooo many dishes they wish they were preparing instead, but they knew they had to adjust. And I can say (as we continued to explore other high-end takeout) no one did it better than Vespertine.I could go on and on, but my simple two thoughts are:1.) Thank you Vespertine2.) I can't wait to see you in person
Be the first to ReplyAVIOD THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.
I just picked up a take out order that was over $700 and besides the fact the first time they came out and handed me 1 box and I asked to please make sure the order was correct which they told me they always do. the order was for 6+ people. 5 times they had to go back in as things were missing. Even talking with the owner who assured me the order was now right. Again things missing. He had to go back inside to get what should have been in my order In the first place.Pretty sad that the staff and owner can't read and check an order. It's called customer service and quality control. Considering what the food cost. Then I get home and everything again with the order was wrong. Salads were wrong. All meats completely RAW. the only thing right was the Hawaiian rolls.GO ELSEWHERE as what this place tries to tout itself as a gastronomic delight was basically incompetent staff and owner who can't even read raw food etc. totally not a delight but a nightmare.GO ELSEWHERE. They don't deserve your business if this is how they operate and can't even read a order printout.
Be the first to ReplyFor my birthday, my partner surprised me with a to-go
For my birthday, my partner surprised me with a to-go tasting menu meal from Vespertine. We've been wanting to try this place so it was a pleasant surprise! I had a couple of favorite dishes, but overall felt like the menu progression (this was around Xmas 2020) was not well thought out. It felt pretty heavy pretty early on (instead of a gradual build up towards the meat course), and often lacked some acidity to balance the dishes out. I still enjoyed the experience and had fun trying to follow the to-go and plating instructions. My partner also added the dessert course, which allowed us to basically "paint"/construct the dish ourselves. This was very fun but reminded me of my lack of artistic talent. As this was around Christmas, a lot of the flavors revolved around peppermint and gingerbread, which are not flavors I personally enjoy but can appreciate. Overall, I'd like to come back and try a different menu. Perhaps it's improved.

One of the best parts of lockdown has been the ability to eat at from these restaurants that normally take weeks, if not months, to lock down a reservation. We decided to order the Vespertine x One Eleven Park meal for Mother's Day and we don't have any regrets. The meal was prepped and packaged nicely right when we pulled up for our scheduled pickup time. We saw the chef outside and the gorgeous building the restaurant resides in. When we got home, the instructions for heating up the chicken and other meal items were easy to follow and it was such a treat to be able to enjoy this from the comfort of our home. I had a good time and appreciate the care and attentiveness that went into the meal.

As I was washing dishes yesterday, I was washing one of the bowls from the Vespertine dishes and I realized what a quality package we've received from Vespertine. The containers they gave us are of extreme quality and reusable. I started to feel I gave this an unfair rating of a 4-star which I know would be an amazing experience if I had experienced it fully in their restaurant as a 5-star. What they provided us in the take-home kit is of high quality from the instructions in the booklet to the ingredients (taste, quality, ingredients, presentation).

My son and family hosted a amazing "take out meal" for Vespertine for Mother's Day. From the detail in packaging, to individual courses and separate dressings to the incredible menu every aspect was unique and delicious. By far, my best Covid experience

My sister & I ordered the Vespertine x Eleven Madison Park Collab for Mother's Day and we so excited when we got home that we immediately did an unboxing video! Thank goodness we did an unboxing video because NO ENTREES were included in our ordered. We have ordered two menus w/ two additional entrees and lo and behold we only got our two additional entrees. And beware, there is no one answering the phone, only email. So if you drive from hours away, be prepared to check everything right when they give it to you in the car. I expected MUCH more from Vespertine & I'm curious to see how they will respond!
