Attitude will get you everything.
OMG! What is with the rude woman with the big black Gucci glasses? So rude and full of herself. I wanted to leave as soon as I sat but I thought I was just hangry. So I got a grip on myself and gave her a chance. She was the host or the owner I think. The wait staff were pleasant.... when they eventually arrived. It was not busy. The menu was somewhat poorly written but the wait staff were great at giving us a hand. Anyway, it was late and no longer busy so after waiting in our car for for an hour for a call that never came. We went back in. No big deal. Big Glasses just never called. Sat us at the bar with plenty of tables open. The food came and looked beautiful, unfortunately, all the flavor was left back in the kitchen. We had bowls with every sauce available. Unfortunately, they too were bland. You're kidding? At a sushi restaurant? So..two bowls, two beers, two miso soups, $100. Really? Including all bad vibes, poor service, and lack of taste? Such a deal. The woman with the glasses really set the deal in stone of a "never return". A woman of her size should really be in the back hoisting bags of rice and cases of saki rather than in public service. This is the deal... There are three other places within a two mile radius, Katana, Mochi Mochi, and others that are the same if not better. Perhaps more, I just wanted to change up my sushi game. My advise, be nice to your customers, make flavorful food, and put your attitude where the sun doesn't shine and you will be all right.

This place is UNIQUE!!!
Amazing food - absolutely super fresh, delicately prepared. Everything is presented in
the most sylish way and with a committment to excellence!!! Daniel Pinzon (Manager/Chef on Duty) and Hitomi (our waitress) were very friendly and super attentive. We appreciated it.
Cannot believe how I could not discover Wabi Sabi any earlier. Apparently, theyโre also opening a new, high end restaurant in Wynwood soon.
Love, love, love...
A must try!
The sushi is amazing. It is
The sushi is amazing. It is a limited menu with only sushi type options, but high quality and perfectly prepared. The ambience is understated, but the service is exceptional. Of course you have to pay for such quality. This is a special occasion meal, not routine sushi dinner. Parking is limited and difficult. Actually you will probably drive by the small entrance before you find it.

Be the first to ReplyJapanese cuisine, not sushi
The name of this Japanese restaurant (not sushi) reflects its decoration and style, a perfect imperfection. A clean, simple and sober space that offers dishes with top quality ingredients and immaculate presentation, you will typically find works of local artists displayed on its walls.
They offer an Omakase menu (this means the Chef decides what to serve), with a fare of $1000 dollars for 6 six people, which doesn't include drinks.
They close their doors on Sundays and Mondays, and don't accept reservations.
Great hospitality in a unique place
Just visited for the first time(at the urging of the food centric staff at the amazing NAOE) and I was impressed. If your really into raw fish this is the place to be. If your idea of good sushi comes from a chain restaurant or a buffet this is NOT the place for you. Heading down 79th we were reminiscing about the old Japanese market that used to reside just a few miles away on the same street. We hoped that Wabi Sabi was going to be even half as good as that. We were not disappointed. They specialize in chirashi bowls and we all opted for the omakase(chef's choice) version. It was just under $40, would never be mistaken for a bargain but one bite and you'll feel it's worth it. The scallop was particularly good having been lightly kissed with a blow torch and was the table favorite. The wasabi looked freshly grated and all fish was taste extremely fresh and had the perfect consistency and bite. The rice was far above average and anyone really into sushi knows the rice makes all the difference. It had a nice texture, not over or under seasoned and nearly cooked to perfection. Two of my favorites, toro(fatty tuna belly) and uni, were good, but I felt it was a bit of an undersized portion. Mango wanna cotta and matcha cheesecake were perfect desserts, not overly sweet and a great refreshing ending to the meal. Service was impeccable and the decor is extremely charming. Seating is very limited but street parking was plentiful.

Last year, I went to Japan for the first time. This place distills the essence of some of the best sushi places I visited there (in the down-to-earth, zen, non-fine-dining category.) Shuji is a world-class master.
Don't come here expecting elaborate rolls. Come expecting the best ingredients and an authentic Japanese experience.
Take out is encouraged here, and you can get a discount for bringing your own bowl to fill - all in the spirit of environmental awareness and minimizing wast. I haven't done that, because I just want to come in, sit down, and devour the special treat on the spot.
Outrageous prices, pretentious views
We picked up two chirashi bowls for a total of over $80.00. When selecting dishes, our questions and research turned up only a few bowl dishes. The helter skelter interior of the establishment was rationalized as being an homage to imperfection.
We shall not be returning.
Fresh and delicious!
I went there with my family.
I had Wabi Sabi bowl, it was delicious ..!!!
Inside the restaurant was inspired by Japanese garden. I like the style that wall filled up by Orizuru. People are friendly and nice. I wanna go back there again. Thank you wabi sabi!
