Wallsé New York Reviews from The Last Year
My favorite restaurant on earth.
I come here on a regular basis and I always get the Halibut. I brought my freinds here for my birthday because they wanted to go to a gormet resturante they said it was the best! the staff are the nicest. the inside is suave and moderen but shows the fancy side of NYC
Took my bf here for his birthday - made reservations in
Took my bf here for his birthday - made reservations in advanced. We were promptly seated. My bf is from Germany and he gave his stamp of approval. Great wine and beer list. They also provided extra cookies since it was for his birthday celebration. Will be back!
Fantastic Austrian food in the West Village with impeccable
Fantastic Austrian food in the West Village with impeccable service. The vibe was old New York sophistication paired with global influences. The clientele seemed European and Asian but more mature than the typical "scene-y" crowd that permeates the neighborhood. We ordered the beets, beef tartare, foie gras and a few pretzels as appetizers. This place served the best pretzel I've ever had in my life. The truffle spatzle tasted like risotto and was very good. The glazed duck breast was full of flavor. The portions were reasonable. For dessert, we got the black forest cake and the salzburger nockerl. The nockerl was the showstopper - it was a fluffy soufflé that was baked to perfection.
Nice atmosphere and decent food.
Would be perfectly worth it if the prices were at least 25% less. Love Wiener Schmitzel; but that's simple comfort food. NOT worth $45. All the entrees are flirting just shy of $50. I'm sorry, this is not Le Bernadin. Also, simple (not fancy) Austrian wine at $21 per glass--seriously??. And nothing-special bread $6 feels like being nickeled and dined. I live in Yorkville and will go back to one of the local German/Austrian eateries at 1/3 the price...
Went there for Thanksgiving.
A wonderful restaurant. Great menu complemented by outstanding service. Delightful experience.
Great service
The food was excellent as was the service. We ordered a bottle of wine but we didn't like it so it was changed without any fuss. Well worth a visit.
I happened upon this restaurant recently and wanted to
I happened upon this restaurant recently and wanted to check it out. We grabbed a late Thursday dinner here. We ordered the rabbit schnitzel, steak tartare, heirloom peach salad, and the goulash. Everything was good, except the meat in the goulash was overcooked. The rabbit was definitely not the star of the dish but it was still good, just not exceptional. We had a bottle of wine and the wine was funky, but good. Austrian wine, a Pinot. Service was attentive and great.
Horribly disappointing experience
We booked wallse which we have always adored for a special family 80th birthday. We specified that we had to eat outside for health reasons. Every forecast showed rain but they have a beautiful covered outdoor area with heaters so we assumed it was ok and were all dreaming of a lovely yummy celebration. NO one contacted any of us in advance to say they could not serve us outdoors. Had they done so when the outdoor reservations were selected, we would have understood 100% . When we arrived the maitre d came flying out after we had checked in and been seated. He was not nice-in fact very rude saying you can’t sit here! My staff will get wet you have to move. It was not that the issue of staff getting wet to serve being a problem was not understandable. That is 100% fine if you tell guests in advance that it is a problem or say you are so sorry and you had not noticed the guests specifications in advance. . Rude and inconsiderate because he said it angrily, as though we had done him wrong. Rude because he did not seem to comprehend that it meant two people from our group had to leave because they were uncomfortable eating indoors for health reasons; and it was too late to move the group elsewhere. rude because he offered no apology for not notifying us before 7 people who could have eaten together elsewhere, now had to split up after coming from 3 different locations. And as a result, could not celebrate a birthday together. Very disappointed.
Very good modern Central European restaurant.
I suspect a lot of diners will find it to be just okay even compared to second tier neighborhood Italian joints. The Michelin Star, for me, is hard to understand. The cuisine is unique but the "full package" wasn't quite present. Maybe if we get people jamming in for a modern interpretation of Tafelspitz it'd be more exciting.
Food was great.
Service was good and fast. The atmosphere was modern and almost casual - felt very approachable for a Michelin-starred resturant. We were greeted immediately at the door by the hostess and directed to our seats after checking reservation. The server checked in on if we were celebrating any special occasion and gave us enough time to check the food and drink menu. He was descriptive with the dishes, giving recommendations and answering any and all questions. With the help of the server, was able to decide on a wonderful glass of white wine (Gelber Muskateller) and a couple dishes: pretzel, quark spatzle, wiener schnitzel, and scallops. Food came out relatively quickly. The pretzel was small but was warm and pleasant to eat - be aware to remove the salt (is very salty). By the time we were done with the pretzel, the mains were served. The schnitzel had great flavor and was surprisingly light - the meat was tender, flavorful, and thin, the coating was light - almost fluffy. For something that is deep-fried, it didn't feel heavy or too oily. The lingonberry sauce on the side was fine but we personally liked the dish without. The potatoes were a nice carb-y source to the dish while the cucumbers helped cleanse the palette. The quark spatzle was fine - was not my cup of tea but fortunately my partner enjoyed it. Creamy, carb-y, and had a hint of acidity to it. The scallops were the star of the snow - three large pieces, cooked to perfection, laying on a bed of potato puree. Paired with fava beans and a slightly bitter and tart cherry sauce. The Scallops were seared perfectly on the outside while remaining warm, soft, and tender in the inside. The sauces and foam paired well with the scallops, we completely devoured the dish - leaving no trace on the plate (sauce included)! We finished off the meal with ordering a dessert. However, we were pleasantly surprised with two: salzburger nockerl and almond financier. The former was fluffy, light and easy to eat, reminding me of a marshmallow meringue lying on a bed of tart berry compote. The latter was a semi-dense almond cake with a orange sorbet and a sugar crisp on top. Thank you to the kitchen and team for the extra dessert - it was on the house as we were celebrating an anniversary. It was very much appreciated!
Wow! Superb food, service, ambiance, vibe.
We had an array of dishes and everything was delicious and flawlessly executed. I appreciated the art on the walls and that tables that had a nice separation between them.
Came here because of the reviews, but then found a hair in

Submit a refund request and your seller will either give you a refund or fix the issue. Could’ve just given you the wrong confirmation but still have the reservation you want.
