Excellent service at Wild Honey
I ate Lunch at Wild Honey a few weeks ago and Iโm not normally one to write a review but I have to compliment the service of our wonderful waitress Jo who did her upmost to make our experience entirely positive. She could not have been more helpful in talking us through the menu and made some excellent suggestions, I would definitely recommend the rabbit and can only commend her knowledge. It was a great dinning experience and I look forward to eating here again!
Be the first to ReplyGood food but very small portions and slow service.
Lovely dining room with well spaced tables. Friendly staff. We had the ยฃ40 three course fixed menu. The food was excellent quality but tiny portions. The salad starter was a few slices of tomato in a good dressing. The mackerel course included a tasty sauce but was simply a small piece of fish and a few slices of potato, no vegetables or garnish. The cheese course was one very small mouthful. Service was unacceptably slow. It didnโt seem to be the fault of the waiters, who seemed embarrassed. This restaurant should do better.

We met the family for my Birthday meal, we have never been before made to feel one of the family by all members of the staff, couldnโt do enough for us. The food was excellent lived up to expectations from what we had read before. It was value for money, expensive but it was worth it.
Be the first to ReplyA hotel cafe / restaurant feel, friendly, average food.
Nice room, friendly service, average food, surprised from this well known Michelin star chef. Came with high expectations. It felt like a hotel cafe / restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious meal
Had the pre theatre menu option. Each dish was carefully crafted, with a great balance of delicate flavours and tasted amazing.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious !
We were staying in Sofitel and had the chance to have dinner on Saturday night in this beautiful restaurant 1 star awarded Michelin. Only 1 menu available after 6:30pm with a choice of 4 starters/dishes/dessert. Small choice but it is what we prefer since you are sure it is fresh ! We took terrine and crab salad to begin then ร cรดtรฉ de bลuf ! It was incredible ! Very tasty and beautiful ! Desserts were not too sweet and yummy ! To be tested and well deserved !
Be the first to ReplyFantastic food and stunning restaurant
Had never been , first time visited. First impression a very beautiful fancy restaurant with a very nice bar area. We had the ala carte menu for lunch and it was very very good. The chicken and truffle macaroni starter was so delicious , was followed by venison done three was including an amazing cottage pie. In between we were given some canapรฉs, really nice bread and some mini desserts with our coffee. The coffee was really nice. Good wines with reasonable prices. Service was ok, minor issues in that we didnโt get a wine list had to ask several times, cutlery was missing and glasses not cleared away. However, minor gripe as the food is really really good and beautiful restaurant. It is part of the St James hotel which we didnโt realise so you can go to that bar also.
Be the first to ReplyGreat pre-theatre menu
We went to Wild Honey for their pre-theatre menu and had a wonderful time! We were served by Vicky who was brilliant - she was very friendly and knowledgeable (and recommended a great wine to go with our meal). The restaurant itself is beautiful and the food is delicious. We will be returning again soon!
Be the first to ReplyMarvellous pre-theatre supper
A very wonderful pre-theatre supper- my mackerel was beautifully cooked, the other halfโs salad was pronounced delicious. We both enjoyed a very tasty duck with Seville orange followed by walnut and ginger cake. The supper was topped off with some very welcome petits fours, including a mini Happy Anniversary chocolate tablet. All in all an amazing experience- the staff are attentive and friendly. Vicky was a wonderful host- special praise to her.

Visited for St Valentines. Scallop starter and halibut main were truly excellent. Perfectly cooked, with tasty sauces. Chocolate tart dessert was rather underwhelming, especially compared to the other courses. Service was professional, yet not quite there for a high end restaurant. Meal was left to end a bit abruptly. Overall, a recommend.
Be the first to ReplyWow - donโt pass this venue on your travels
Wow. What venue !!!! Great ambience and staff so attentive, with excellent drinks in a relaxed environment. We have since been back several times and have not been disappointed. Best old fashioned in London ! And their Rose wine is a great choice. Donโt want to recommend too much as may get to busy to get a table !! But recommend you donโt pass this venue
Be the first to ReplyA super luncheon experience
Having stayed at the hotel previously we decide to eat at the Wild Honey restaurant while visiting London. A great choice! Absolutely lovely food- sea trout was super and shoulder of lamb tasty. Service was professional and the entire experience was really enjoyable. We hadn't booked and appreciated the welcome we were were given.
Be the first to ReplyDid Michelin get it wrong?
From the start this experience was a disaster. Hoping so much for the opposite given a Michelin star no less. We were seated in a dark corner near a large party (who should have had the section to themselves). Service was extremely slow, inexperienced, sticky table, and most important of all - cold food. Donโt get me wrong, the menu was beautiful with so much promise. But to bring it out cold was a sin. When we said something all we were given were 2 glasses of dessert wine. Sorry, but with a price fix menu that wasnโt inexpensive, something more should of been done. And speaking of price fix, not clear on website that a la carte menu not available on Fridays or Saturdays. We so wanted this last meal in London to be memorable. I guess we got our wish. Beware of Eater reviews. Ask your friends who know.
Be the first to ReplyUsed to be great - now?
I am a long time fan of this restaurant, but I fear the move to its new spot i the Sofitel (now several years ago) has lowered the quality. I used to eat here at least every 6 weeks prior to covid. On the bright side - the cheese and dessert was brilliant! That was by far the best, highest quality part of dinner. And the location is prime. On the negative side: 1. Itโs a Friday night - not one course out of 8 came out hot. It was lukewarm to be generous. 2. On a Friday night right after the jubilee, I had very poor service. It took 3 hours to be served dinner and the wait staff was sent home as of 10pm. God bless the bus staff who is doing every thing to help. A strong effort by them! But with these prices it would be nice to have a professional waiter at 10pm. 3. There is only a fixed 8 course menu offered. Which is great for me. The problem I have is that every course was thrown in front of me without any explanation - when I asked my waiter what they were (and the first course was a fried cod), he shrugged and brought me the menu. No gifts from the kitchen. 4. I ordered a 65 pound carafe of Pinot noir - served in a white wine glass. I asked for a red wine glass - not even a Pinot glass - and was told no. Eventually they waiter brought me a cheap hotel glass only to tell me it as special for me to have this. I havenโt ever been to a restaurant with no red wine glasses?! The food is very good. But this used to be a small, restaurant where you interacted with the chef and knew the wait staff. Itโs become very much a hotel restaurant. I am glad they are making money but Michelin should strongly reconsider itโs star. If I were a competing chef, who actually cared about the presentation and service, I would point to this restaurant as a very large exception to Michelin standards. In the past 60 days, I have eaten in 5 michelin starred restaurants, both 1 and 2 stars in Italy and London, and this is not even close to the others. Sort of silly to pretend that it is. I know the restaurant will always go well commercially, but as a fan of the wonderful prior restaurant, I wonโt be returning soon!

Honestly, 3 course lunch at a Michelin 1* restaurant for 35ยฃ?! Near impossible. Had the quail to start, very nice. The fish main was beautiful- actually much better that a fish main I had at a 3* Michelin a couple of days later. We shared camembert and a sorbet for dessert both nice. For the price, this is an absolute no brainer.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food, hitting a competitive price point.
The cost inflation in the restaurant business, post Brexit and post Covid has been horrendous. Places that used to charge ยฃ30-40 for a set lunch are now charging ยฃ60-70 and more. They have to. They can't get the staff and their businesses have been pounded so hard that they need to stay afloat somehow, So it was encouraging to see that Wild Honey still offers a set lunch for ยฃ35. The dining room - in the Sofitel hotel, but with its own entrance - is really nicely designed and it's very comfortable. We booked for 1230 - there were three tables occupied. An hour later, every table was full. The menu was short, but offered choices for my pescetarian daughter. I had grilled mackerel with courgette salad to start. Really enjoyed it. Nice piece of fish, cooked really well, with a light, refreshing salad. Main was slow cooked lamb (nomnomnom) and strawberry sorbet to finish. All were really good. So how do they do it for half the price of other Michelin star places? Well, you don't get the intercourse nibbles and pre-desserts that you get at, say, Pollen St Social. The dessert was strawberry sorbet (served with a blob of jam and some crumb - meringue, i think). Service is good, but they brought the mains while my wife and daughter were in the loo - I'm not sure I expect plates to arrive while guests are absent. But overall, this was a really enjoyable meal, with great food, hitting a tough price point in the current climate. We all enjoyed it thoroughly.
Be the first to ReplyGood but not quite hitting the mark
Enjoyable evening but we felt it didn't quite meet expectations. Each course just seemed to lack the wow factor. We visited on a Friday evening a couple of weeks ago, quiet which we thought was odd for a Friday but turned out to be advantageous as the tables for two are very close together. The atmosphere was a little odd. We ordered the flight of wine, made it through the end of the second course before they realised we hadn't been served any wine. Apologetic and caught up but a shame. The wine waiter seemed inexperienced and lacked the knowledge of a sommelier serving pairing wines. Not his fault and he was very nice but we felt he just needed some training. Cheese tart didn't pack a punch, the asparagus and scallop course were delicious. Mains good. Nice biscuits with ok cheese, lovely ice cream. The dessert is usually one of the most visually impressive courses at a restaurant of this standard but it was very disappointing and unfortunately didn't make up for it with flavour. We couldn't taste orange and the chocolate topping was split and too sweet. Perhaps it was just an off night, a lot to offer and pleasant staff but missing something.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent value for set lunch menu
Booked in advance and it was a good deal for a 3 course lunch seat on a Saturday. The starter were good especially the asparagus with egg, and then the main were simply fabulous. The slow cooked lamb was so tasty and tender and the cod fish was also good with the sauce. For desert both the strawberry ice cream and chocolate cake were amazing - service was impeccable. Excellent value for set menu lunch (ยฃ35) - Highly recommended!
Be the first to ReplyGreat service and great food
We enjoyed the scallops, asparagus, gnocchi, halibut and of course the wild honey ice cream (definitely a must). And I will say the cheese plate was superb! Great cocktail menu and a pretty nice wine list. Service was impressive!
Be the first to ReplyVery pleasant place with lovely staff and good food
We were there at lunchtime and the restaurant was not very busy. The staff were pleasant and attentive. The lunch menu was reasonably extensive. I ordered the. Cod fish with vegetables. It was a thick piece cooked to perfection . It was a mild fish that was firm tasty and cooked moist. It was perfect. I also ordered green beans and green peas. The beans were good but the peas were hard and tasteless.
Be the first to ReplyWe booked this for a special occasion and it was indeed special.
My daughter booked the Wild Honey for Motherโs Day as they were providing a three course menu at a fixed price.
Now I do not usually frequent restaurants that demand the four pound signs on Trip Advisor so may not be the best person to compare and contrast but all I can say is that the food was superb, and especially in my case from the fish soup, through the slow cooked beef to the stunning wild honey ice cream. One of our party is especially difficult to please and he thought his chicken main was one of the best cooked meals he has had out in London and I can tell you that is praise indeed.
No problems with the service levels for us either, but then it was bookings only on Motherโs Day and walk ups were being turned away and they clearly had the scheduling correct as not to overwhelm the staff. Also a mark of service is how quickly errors are rectified and when I pointed out to the head waiter that we were a mint tea short during the final coffees it was rectified almost immediately.
So in conclusion, we booked the Wild Honey for a special occasion and for us it was indeed special.
Amazing Food - Wonderful Service - Beautiful Building
We had the seven course tasting menu with wine pairing. The food was amazing, service was wonderful and enjoyed our evening so much - thank you. Also had a pre-dinner cocktail in the St. James Bar - yummy!!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent in some cases just good in others...
First of all I want to mention one of our amazing waitresses Marina who helped make the night special for us.
My "chicken and pasta" scraped a 5/5.
The elements around the lamb for my main were a 5/5 just about but the lamb was a bit of a let down 4/5. 4/5 for the main overall.
The "main" dessert of custard tart was the star of the show. A very high 5/5 indeed. One of the best I've ever tried.
The honeycomb ice cream: The honey comb 5/5 but the ice cream was a 3/5. Overall I would however give it a 5/5 due to the honeycomb.
The chocolate soup was decent. 4/5.
The petit fours were a 4/5.
OVERALL RATING for the night: 5/5 but could have been better. The restaurant does make my top ten because of the custard tart but tenth place rather than top five. I would return.
My guest gave everything, her octopus starter, her halibut(?) main and the custard tart 5/5 and said it was a top 5 restaurant for her. She also praised the petit fours.
Why does the owner not take notice of reviews?
We went for lunch yesterday and the service really let down our experience. As previously mentioned , the staff are all extremely polite - but they have no structure to their service, and I totally blame whoever is in charge of them. I saw 3 trays of food arrive at our own and neighbouring tables whilst the plates from the pre starter were still on the tables. With respect I do not feel I should be moving plates to allow the waiter to put down my meal in a Michelin starred restaurant. There is just no organisation. Pretty good food. The chicken mustard was outstanding. Let down by poor restaurant managing. I wouldnโt visit again. Reading previous reviews no remedial action has been taken. I think the Michelin inspector had a lucky experience. So did Wild Honey.

I dont get these reviews - must be paid for. Today - It took 2.5 hours to serve a 2 course lunch. No one was rude or impolite - they just lost it. The whole thing seemed to be random and we were an afterthought. I am not a foodie and I am not fussy - the food was good - but it is not brilliant. Good bistro serves this.
I work in London - go out a lot - box ticked. Plenty of better options.
