Came with a friend for lunch at noon.
We ordered 2 fried chicken sandwiches on sourdough bread, 1 seasonal potato and rosemary focaccia, and 1 chocolate chip cookie for dessert. We could have split one sandwich they were so large! The focaccia was thick and toasty with a delicate layer of toppings. The chocolate chip cookie was one of the BEST cookies I have ever eaten. Crispy on the outside, chewy, with both milk chocolate and semisweet pieces, and a sprinkle of sea salt on top. Perfection! They were only doing take out at this time. They do have some outdoor seating with tables and wood benches. But sadly no outdoor heating for a chilly day like today. I'll have to go back to try more of their baked goods like the monkey bread. Overall, Winner is a winner!

Either the staff is directed to be rude, cold, and ignorant of conventional standards of comity between consumers and service staff, or the workroom floor is lined with thumbtacks. The staff consistently presents as deliberately rude. Nevertheless, it's the best bread in the five boroughs. I can't recommend it enough.

Definitely a winner! Seems like a popular spot with the wait outside. they have a pretty small menu which is posted outside letting people know exactly when the baked goods are ready for. I decided only to get the monkey bread but it was absolutely delicious. will definitely come back to try their bread and sandwiches
Be the first to ReplyMy third review/second update.
Down a star because they messed with the chicken dinner. I know food prices have increased. I get it. But the beautiful whole rotisserie chicken was $24. Now it's the same price for a boneless half chicken. I'd rather pay $36 for the whole chicken if that's indeed what they need to charge, than pay $24 for the new spatchcocked chicken entree. I used the carcass from the rotisserie chicken to make my own broth. No longer have that option though they sell a quart of broth for $12. Also, while I'm whinging, could you all please please clean that front window? It's been filthy since you all opened. I don't get it. And finally, agree with everyone else....one window, long lines, even to pick up pre-ordered and pre-paid food is a drag. Hope we're not witnessing a rapid over-expansion of the brand.
Be the first to ReplyI could wax poetic about Winner for days.
Ham egg and cheese on their delectable buttery English muffin makes my mornings in gowanus infinitely better. Best flourless pb cookie and chocolate chip cookie in the city. Pastrami melt and grilled cheese also perfect. Just go.
Be the first to ReplyThanks for ruining my lunch.
I ordered the chicken meatball today and it was terrible. 1 1/2 dried out meatballs on completely burnt bread. Inedible. How can you serve this and charge someone 16.00See photos of this awful sandwich
Be the first to ReplyNice little cafe.
Ordered in a rainy day. The fried chicken sandwich is great, recommended by a friend. I like the crispy toasted toast.
Be the first to ReplyI only get their bread.
And it's awesome. I'm waiting in line right now. In the cold rain. That's why I am leaving a one star review. Get with it, Winner. This one window outdoor situation was a fine bandaid for the pandemic but now it's just arrogance. We just had a customer order a latte which takes even longer and now we all hate her. This is a terrible business model; please fix it.

Many pastries and breads - the special bread of the day was a seeded oat sourdough that was delicious! The oat milk latte was okay - the coffee tasted slightly burned. I'd love to return for their brunch/lunch offerings (I've heard great things about the veggie bahn mi). Lots of outdoor seating and you order at the window. Super cute!

We stumbled upon Winner on our summer staycation and found a long line and a lot of delicious eats on the menu we wanted to try! Some were only available at other times of the day like the cookies, pretzels and focaccia, but the breakfast sandwich made the breakfast menu worth it! The cheese on that thing was deeeeelish. We didn't love the cinnamon roll or coffee cake as much. The coffee in the cake was too strong and there was an additional flavor in the cinnamon roll I didn't care for when I expected the classic combos (I can't remember wh at it was specifically. Maybe orange?) Definitely worth a try and worth adding in to your breakfast rotation if you live in south slope!
