Woodmont Grill Chevy Chase Reviews
Went here last night for my birthday dinner and Woodmont
Went here last night for my birthday dinner and Woodmont grill did not disappoint!I had the crab cakes and I can tell you, NO filler- amazingly prepared. My husband had steak fillet and cut like butter, The ambiance is incredible and the wait staff courteous and knowledgeable about the menu. This was our first time coming here and will definitely be back!

Perfectly cooked awesome food, server was very nice, helpful and professional. Ambience was excellent. Perfect for a date night.
It's very very dark.
I don't quite understand why but it is easily the darkest place in Bethesda.
I can't believe I'm writing this as i've been coming here
I can't believe I'm writing this as i've been coming here for 15 years or however long they have been open. But just such an arrogant spirit to the place now. They often and randomly remove items from the menu. You never know what is going to be available. Who gets rid of lemonade- best drink they have on menu and was unique. Crunchy shrimp roll gone. Fries not the same anymore. Service not the same anymore as we wait for ever for food to come out and waiter to come back to just pay and leave- it turns into a 2 hour lunch. Who has time for that?
Odd experience, can't fully be sure if it was based on race
Odd experience, can't fully be sure if it was based on race or not. My mom who is Black, went in first to see if there was any availability. She was told there was none and that the next available table wouldn't be open until 8:30 pm or later. The hostess directed her to bar seating. She left, and returned to the car, where I had now parked in the parking lot. There were several open booths and tables (more than half). Less than 2 minutes later, my step father who was meeting us there arrived and went in and asked for a table and was immediately seated. He is white. He checked his phone and realized we weren't there and told us to come in. My mother went in and they decided to stay. I learned of this after the meal, as I wouldn't have stayed in an establishment that doesn't welcome people that look like me or my mother. After the meal, I asked to speak to a manager who brushed us off with a shrewish attitude as if my ask was beneath a response from her. After doing a little research (Houston's in Atlanta and other cities) I sent an email to corporate and received no response. I won't be back. I'll miss the ribeye but not a place that doesn't want my money.
Stay away if youโre of color! Smh
WARNING! DO NOT GO IF YOU ARE A PERSON OF COLOR! They engage in racial profiling by refusing to offer tables to people of color, even when the restaurant is mostly empty, suggesting they sit at the bar instead. Meanwhile, they warmly welcome and seat white or lighter-skinned individuals without hesitation, even when there are plenty of available tables.
Poor ribs quality
We used to love ribs at Woodmont. But our visit, where all 3 of us ordered ribs, was really a disappointment -- and a waste of money given the hefty price. The ribs were dry, little meat and poor taste. I wrote a comment to the restaurant but heard nothing back. What a shame, used to be so nice.

Dropped by for lunch & sat at the bar whiched was being ran by Tiera. It's not the 1st time that I had her as a waitress, so it wasn't surprising that she gives her best to each & every customer all the time. I highly recommend calling to see if she's working for the best experience that they have!!
I had not been to this restaurant in awhile and my visit
I had not been to this restaurant in awhile and my visit today was disappointing. I ordered the lamb sandwich which was not available (not mentioned before ordering). So I ordered the chicken sandwich (the waiter said it was his fav). The chicken fillet was cut so thin I could hardly see or taste the chicken. The batter was tasty and the fillings (tomato, cheese and bread) over-powered the sandwich. DO NOT ORDER.
We really like this place.
Yes, they have a lot of rules, but they aren't wrong in saying that requiring people to dress with a little regard for those around them elevates the experience for everyone. I wish they could seat tables of more than 4 and be a little more liberal with substitution requests, but they do what they do really well. Almost flawless execution almost every time. The servers are pros and they care to ensure you have a great experience. Favorites include the spinach & artichoke dip and the ruby star salad these days. The sushi is quite good. Easy parking Marriott garage across the way.

I And My mom went here the food and the service were amazing especially because I love the susshi as an appetizer!!!
Delicious lunch
Fantastic afternoon! After touring about we stopped for a delicious lunch with impeccable service. We ordered the Lamb burgers and cheese burgers. The fries were not greasy but perfectly cooked. We ordered the sushi grade tuna dish as an appetizer rather than main course. Prices were very good and portions large The atmosphere was relaxing jazz music, cozy lighting and delicious smells from the second you stepped in off the street. We sat in a booth. The waitress was outstanding and checked on us throughout the meal. highly recommend this place

I met a friend at the Woodmont Grill for dinner recently; he had picked the venue and I confess that I wasn't very impressed when I arrived because I didn't find the decor particularly appealing. I suspended judgement until my friend arrived and we'd been seated. I'm glad I did, because it didn't take long for the excellent service and good food to compensate for the negative first impression. We shared everything family style, starting with the fried oysters, which were plump, nicely seasoned and perfectly cooked. We followed these with the crab cakes. These were done perfectly, and accompanied by a delicately flavored tasty sauce. Last, but decidedly not least was the grilled salmon, which was excellent! He paired his food with a beer, and I opted for a cocktail; both were quite satisfactory. To sum it all up, it's good not to judge a book by its cover - despite a negative first impression, we ended up having a very enjoyable dining experience. I look forward to returning in the not to distant future to sample some more of their menu items :-)
Excellent restaurant with wonderful service and delicious
Excellent restaurant with wonderful service and delicious options. I even enjoyed the warm hand towel.
I have come in time and time again.
I have been coming here for more than 10+ years celebrating everything under the sun... including a random Monday lol I have gotten to know the staff as if they are family! The consistency is literally award winning and the atmosphere is its absolute complement. My favorite bartender Cynthia continues to engage me with the menu every time but also challenges me to try something new, even if it's just a soup or fish of the day. It's hard to go wrong with any meal here!!!! I love Kasey, Sophia, Teairra (not sure I spelled that right). JORDAN IS AMAZING!!, Drew. The manager Ramesh is very hospitable. Nicole is also super amazing with dealing with us guests lol I just cannot rave enough about how awesome this place is. They do seem to be inconsistent with some rules and/or meal options but I guess they keep you on your toes. The staff is becoming different and I welcome that but the camaraderie is something I look forward too when entering the building. The staff is what keeps me coming back and the food is just a plus!!!

The food was okay, not my kind of thing but, if your into
The food was okay, not my kind of thing but, if your into american food then go ahead and try this place! I was surprised to see that they have a sushi menu and it wasn't that bad. The servers were very attentive and were very professional. I was a little sad that they don't have any live jazz anymore :( . I feel like that would make me come here more regularly. Overall, for me it was just a one and done restaurant. I hope anyone that is reading this place a try!

Came in for a walk in (no reservations) for 2 people at 4:30pm maybe 10-15 people in the entire restaurant. 75-80% empty. Hostess tells us they can't take anything until 8:30pm. Absolutely ridiculous and unreasonable!!
We were here for an early dinner and drinks.
First of all our server Jackie was very sweet, smiling all the time. Very pleasant always asking what we need. We ordered a few things since .it was supposed to be hapoy hour turned dinner. It was good the cheeseburger was great. We asked to be cut into four since it was huge. And she kinda forgot to let the kitchen know or maybe it was overlooked. The ribs were good and the salad accompanying it. We loved the salad and the fries. We had bread in the beginning and i didn't realized that it was not free like the ones they give in other restaurants as a free appetizer. It was $8.00 but i guess inflation or maybe they were very fancy. Ambiance was nice. Calm and not too noisy. The prices were a bit steep but then again we were dining at Downtown Bethesda so thats to be expected
First thing I want to say this is my favorite steak
First thing I want to say this is my favorite steak restaurant at Bethesda. I eat there more than 20 time and I always ask my husband why I didn't see no Asian customer here when the steak really good. But today Feb 22 at dinner time I got a terrible customer service. And now I need to leave a 0 star review, this is my first time ever to review bad about restaurant but I need to let people know, specially the Asian people like me. I really upset because when I have reservations at 9:00 but I come early and show up at 8:00 to ask them if I can get in early or not I will shopping and come back on time.I come the girl right the front desk she talking with another girl, so I wait they finished the conversation. And then she started to ignore me. the girl at frontdesk don't even look at me and keep let some people come after me check in. 4 group check in and Then I need to come to talk with the manager about she ignored me. I feel really bad when driving 47 minutes for the dinner and then they made me fell stigmas. because I wearing no dress and every one here just white? With me this just a dinner not a special 5* restaurant to be made like, if I can come here it mean I can pay. How can she treat me like homeless. I eed to cancel the reservation because can not stay there with that treat. And the girl said she a manager just said OK. With no apologies the girl at fron desk made me feel like I go the wrong place, this restaurant not welcome me. I'm Asian and alway tips 20% and up for the service here all the time. Now I know why the steak is good but no Asian customer here. Because that's way they treat me and other customer made me don't want to come back. You win to made the restaurant with no Asian. Really really STIGMA.

Impeccable
Outstanding food and service. Impeccable attention to detail. The ribs are divine: smoky and tender with no discernible fat. The sushi appetizers are unique and delicious!
Came in for a late lunch/early dinner, and the restaurant
Came in for a late lunch/early dinner, and the restaurant is packed. Service is good but food wasn't that great The pressed sushi which they are know for, was good but nothing spectacular. I ordered their tuna tartare and it was very one dimensional. It was missing some acidity. Kinda flat My husband order burger and I ordered their special which was flute fish. They didn't tell me it was breaded and almost like deep fried. Nonetheless, it was extremely buttery. I didn't want to finish my entree. I switch out their coleslaw for their kale and that too was flat. Since I couldn't enjoy my dinner, I took half of my husband's burger. Honestly, I can get the same burger, somewhere cheaper. Overall it was disappointing. We had a gift card which was told that it was used already at their other location. The manager said it was claim at water Park restaurant which is weird bc the gc was specially for their restaurant. We didn't redeem it, so it was extremely weird. Not to say that it was the staff's fault, but it was still weird. Would I come back? Probably not.
Thank you, Woodmont Grill and your fantastic staff,
Thank you, Woodmont Grill and your fantastic staff, specifically Maggie in helping celebrate my husband's and my anniversary! We love Woodmont Grill and tonight was no exception. Delicious food (Traditional salads, The Hawaiian and the Cheeseburger, coffee and the hot fudge sundae-with a candle!!) Service is impeccable and accommodating. The old-school D.C. ambiance is always lovely. Thank you for sharing in our special day!
Phenomenal Dining Experience!
This is one of my favorite to dine, whether for lunch or dinner for many years. The restaurant is a staple in the community, it has been around many years, and always with consistent service and food. Management is always visible incase needed. On this visit, I had the kale salad, and fried oysters which were served with a wonderful caper sauce and in-house made tartar sauce. The oysters were very fresh and fried to perfection, light and crispy. They were so good, I had two servings, they come 6 for an appetizer. Some of my other favorites are in-house made veggie burger or bbq ribs for entree. I usually sit at the bar, and service there I must say is top notch! The atmosphere is quite relaxing, when seating is not full, in the middle of the day, as it can be quite noisy when crowded. A nice touch, is they have a jazz trio on some evenings. Reservations are highly suggested, unless one would like to dine at the bar.
Surprised how disappointing it was
Had high hopes but disappointed for a number of reasons ( some already mentioned by others)- too many rules : no decaf, couldn't swap out or even sell me focaccia bread as an alternative even though they have it as part of bread basket. Food was ok, nothing exceptional. With so many options in bethesda , there's no excuse for the rigid policies of this place. I'm a long time diner in the area and never experienced this before.
Great food. Staff has sticks up their rear.
All of the staff is stuck up and up tight. They are rude to customers whether they are ordering a drink, food or even asking a question. These people need to relax a little bit. Itโs hard to enjoy yourself.
too many rules
This restaurant has so many rules, it's difficult to have an enjoyable lunch. They limit the amount of time you can stay; our waitress must have thought we were overstaying our welcome as she brought the check with our desserts (although there were plenty of available tables. They have no de-caffeinated coffee. The waitress never smiled and was actually fairly sullen. The food was very good, but overall not a good experience for a business lunch.
Rude and arrogant Manager
Rude and arrogant manager Nicole Hurst who treat customers like garbage and brought our child to tears. Will never eat here again
Worst food!
Order Hawaiian Steak came back all fat very little meat.Sent back steak and order ribs no meat on ribs.Have not visited this restaurant for years and wonโt be going back.
Not what it used to be
Woodmont Grill Before Covid Hit : Woodmont Grill served a Great Hamburger with Monster Baked Potato in lieu french fries (if you chose). The meat used to fill the whole bun (at least 8 oz). Ribeye dinner cost around $39 NOW: Woodmont Grill has reduced the size of the Beef patty, omitted the lovely lettuce and Omitted the GREAT BAKED POTATO!!! Moreover, my friend ordered a $49 Ribeye and the French Fries were UNDERCOOKED. Other NEW IRRITATING things are: Woodmont grill no longer accepts cash (which i guess is understandable, not) Woodmont grill NOW states that they have the right to "ask" you to leave the restaurant After you finish your meal !!!!!! so that other people may have the Woodmont experience. Omit the Sushi Bring back a Baked Potato so my Colon is healthy. Thank You
Food and service were good.
Management though was ultra sensitive to who they allowed to eat there. If you didn't have a reservation for lunch, they would turn you away. Way too stuffy for an average restaurant.
The food is excellent.
The service is superb. The Ambience is so inviting Its a great place. Hard to get into though and a little pricey.
Amazing, great food and atmosphere.
Excellent service 5 star . Best to make a reservation just in case.
Inhospitable towards parties larger than four.
The food is ok and overpriced. There are many other friendly restaurants in Bethesda I'd rather go.
The ambiance is awesome, very fancy and nice staff.
The service was quick and friendly which is why 3 stars and not 1. I have a gluten and dairy allergy and the bartender was super helpful and found a salad for me to order. She had taken off the peanut sauce and I thought I would be ok and safe. Halfway though eating the dish I tasted some peanut sauce and my stomach dropped. I got the rest to go in case I didn't have a reaction and was maybe just being extra- BUT I am so so so sick today and I was 100% GLUTENED. As a person with an allergy I am not happy about this and will never be returning.
Really enjoyed our dinner at Woodmont Grill! I should
Really enjoyed our dinner at Woodmont Grill! I should note that they are completely reservation only, and they were totally booked when we arrived. Luckily we were able to sit at the bar. I loved the veggie burger! It was huge and super flavorful and the French fries were perfect. We got the veg sushi roll with spicy ponzu which was delicious as well! We will definitely be coming back.
This is one of those reviews I almost don't want to post
This is one of those reviews I almost don't want to post because I don't want to create more competition for tables here. Nevertheless my family love dining here at any opportunity. My favorite time is during the lull between lunch and dinner. A couple of Saturdays ago we enjoyed top-notch attention to detail by Sofia. If I could somehow only make reservations when she'll be working that would be ideal.I'm perplexed by Hillstone's decision to change the name from Houston's to Woodmont Grill in this age when brand recognition can affect so much, but at least the place is on Woodmont Avenue, so that makes sense. My only real complaint is that someone thought that they needed to fix something that wasn't broken. Their previously superb and unrivaled skinny fries are now just...fries. Perhaps someone will see reason and bring back the skinny fries. Oh, and I miss the lemon drop martini, but I'll survive.
Grossly disappointed to learn Woodmont Grill openly
Grossly disappointed to learn Woodmont Grill openly discriminates against families with more than 2 children. In fact, it all but has a "No Children Allowed" sign at the entranceMy family of 5 have been going to Houston's/Woodmont Grill for decades. We have celebrated birthday's, graduations & family events but NO MORE!We will be filing a complaint with Montgomery Country against WG for discriminationWe will never go there againShame on them all
I tried to get a reservation for a birthday.
. And I made one only to be told once I get there and was told that we had none. Even though we were told no balloons.. No flowers.. And no courtesy... I asked if I could park on the street after 5:00 I should I put money in the meter..? I put money in the meter.. Only to come out with a 120 ticket for parking in a bike lane. Then we split the 120.00 bill 3 ways and one of us puts 40 cash down the waitress puts the cash in her pocket..and when questioning her she says we Dont take cash.. So she assumed we gave her a 40 dollar tip? Why not ask -- the hostess was snarky, the manager was not accomodating and the staff were nice but thirsty.. The food decent, management was rude and rules changing every minute. If your looking for a great experience go somewhere else. One star review -- I felt so bad for my gf in celebrating.. Her special day!
Amazing food excellent service didn't agree with not
Amazing food excellent service didn't agree with not wearing my hat but the food is can't miss love it
Entrees and drinks are .
Ambiance 5 Wait staff 5 Dessert menu 0 Huz and I have been coming for a decade, I don't understand why they have no pastry chef?
Great evening in Bethesda
Very nice dinner at Woodmont Grill. Sat at the bar, Jordan took great care of us. Nice cocktails. Salad was quite tasty. Rockfish seafood special was great. Will definitely be back when weโre in Bethesda
The only word I can use to describe our latest visit here
The only word I can use to describe our latest visit here is heartbreaking. We planned to visit for Valentine's Day, two months in advance, after moving away from the area. We did a lot to make this date happen. I come to this restaurant for one reason, and that is to have a well done steak that is always delicious, juicy and never burnt. Well, I go to order and they tell me that they can not serve above a medium anymore. First of all, most people get medium well? The manager came out and I explained that I don't eat anything else on the menu. She continued to repeat that they cannot cut the steak in half to cook it well (what's stopping you?) and proceeded to ask my spouse if he would like to order while I had nothing to eat. Complete lack of empathy shown for seemingly no reason. To put it nicely, I believe there are other customers that they would not have done this to. I am shocked at the lack of customer service I was shown. This place was really special to us. I am now mourning what was my favorite restaurant.
For Bethesda's only nice restaurant they arrogantly and for
For Bethesda's only nice restaurant they arrogantly and for years have provided the same food and beverage product day in and day out with standard mind numbing consistency. -they lock their doors at 930 even with the bar is still full so as not to be annoyed by new customers. -non variation allowed on dinner salads. You want to have protein added? Sorry that's not allowed. -they don't provide espresso or decaf coffee. At all.The special seafood entree has been attic char for at least two years. We've turned it into a drinking game. My impression is they want you to arrive when they want you to arrive, and leave fast and as soon as they want you to. Service arrogance at its best. I'm going to go to Pike&Rose and downtown for better true and creative customer service. They are so full I doubt they will miss me.
Go downtown or pike & rose instead
For Bethesdaโs best restaurant they produce a product that is mind numbingly boring and indifferent to providing anything other than exactly what they want to provide, and when they want to provide it. No variation on a menu that really hasnโt changed in years. My wife and I have a drinking game asking what the fish special of the day is. Artic char. Always At 930 they lock the door. No one allowed in for a drink or a later night bite. Donโt need The business. Tonight they told me they donโt ever provide decaf coffee. Ever. And no espresso coffee. Too much work. Next time Iโm going to Pike & Rose where I do find a more enthusiastic restaurateur. Or downtown.
Excellent all-around dining experience
What a lovely place to dine! Our table of four ordered a variety of appetizers including sushi and all were delicious and beautifully presented. Our mains were likewise well-seasoned and tasty. Service was above average.
