Absolutely delicious!
Wow! The food was better thank I expected- super flavorful. Definitely get the Okonomiyaki, it sounded weird, but we got ours with an egg and candied pork. Crazy good! The bao bun with pork was also incredible. This is a place for foodies!
Be the first to ReplyAsian Fusion like no other
During our sunset cruise with Carolina Marine Group, my wife and I asked our Captain where we should eat dinner. Being from Dallas, Texas we eat some amazing food, so the bar is set pretty high. He suggested Xio Bao Biscuit. What an amazing culinary experience. It took Asian fusion to an entirety different level. We asked our waiter what the best selling dishes were and went from there. What landed on our table were flavors that rocked our taste buds. Do yourself a favor and try this restaurant.

Walked to this place from our VRBO to get a little something. We weren't real hungry but wanted a little something. We sat at the bar. There were only 2 places left there. The place was packed so we figured it was pretty good. Everything on the menu is, as is. They do no modifications. My husband and I shared a chicken dish, can't even remember what it was. I wish we would've gotten some rice with it but we weren't that hungry. The dish was a little spicy but oh, so good. I do believe it would've been even better with the rice.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Asian food! Interesting venue.
When we pulled up and I saw that this restaurant was a renovated garage I was skeptical but the food was fantastic and was definitely worth the visit. There are outdoor tables with a few parking spots along with some indoor seating. The interior is interesting with a cement bar complimented by old Asian shutters. They have a limited menu and it is best to buy a couple dishes and share with your table. We enjoyed a curry fish dish, and bok choy but the best dish was the Okonomiyaki. This is a cabbage pancake and we had ours complimented with bacon. If you were only going to order one thing, this would be the one to pick. We observed many people picking up takeout as another option.

Cute space and amazing food. We went for lunch and ended up ordering one of almost everything on the menu! None of the dishes disappointed, but standouts included their dumplings and their signature okonomiyaki. Yum!
Be the first to ReplyNew foods that are good
Here we discovered new foods that are good. We have had many types of Asian foods but we discovered a few more here and they were delicious. We tried the Oko (short version of the word). It was very different from other foods and very tasty. (A little bit is spice to it). Staff were excellent as well and will answer any questions . Highly recommend

The one, two, and three star reviews are from people who don't like Asian food or heavily spiced food, or they are from 'Karen's'. Leftovers from here are better than a fresh dinner from almost anywhere else. Do yourself a favor.
Be the first to ReplyIf I could give it a zero I would
We wanted a quick meal since we were going to Magnolia's for dinner. This place was recommended by our Uber driver. Seriously I think this is the worst restaurant I have even been to, and I eat out a lot. We wanted Bao and they don't have it on the menu at lunch; so we ordered the chicken dish and dumplings. We asked if they could separate the salad since it was spicy and received a rude no. I couldn't tell you why, but this waitress hated us. The place is filthy and the service and food is just beyond bad. The dumplings were doughy and too salty. Worst meal in Charleston and probably in my life. I have never been to a place where I felt so un welcomed. I wish we had left when we felt the bad vibes. Bill was about $70 and just awful.
Be the first to ReplyWhy were the greens so mushy and tasteless?
As a vegetarian I was thrilled that Xiao Bao offered a vegetarian Mapo tofu with greens. However, when I arrived home and opened up the takeout containers my husband and I discovered that the greens were completely soggy and had no seasoning. THe Mapo Tofu was ok. It could have benefited from some additional spice.

When XBB first opened years ago my friend told me the Oko would change my life. She was right. Now it is first stop when I get into town
Be the first to ReplyGreat Eclectic Asian Cuisine
After a few days of excellent Southern cuisine in Charleston, I was ready for some Asian. Xiao Boa didn't disappoint. The dishes come from China, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam! There were five of us and we ordered a bunch of dishes to share. Everyone liked the Japanese cabbage pancake and the Bao Buns were a hit, too. They serve Saki in small containers and it goes well with the food.
Be the first to ReplyToo many flies
The food is very basic but it was tasty - stir fry was ground beef - huh? - very simple but at least a little spicy with a fried egg on top. The flies were soooooo bad / the tables were dirty and who knows when last they swept the floor.
Be the first to ReplyFood was delicious, waitress rude
Food was delicious but waitress was rude and disrespectful. She made comments that were insulting when we couldnโt pronounce the dishes. She did not engage with us and actually seemed aggravated that we were there.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic food!
Loved our dining experience! Our server was very helpful with providing suggestions on amount of food and specific dishes. We ended up ordering 5 dishes for two people. That may have been one plate too many, but there were too many good options to choose from. We enjoyed everything we orderedโespecially the pad kra pow. We would definitely return to try more things.
Be the first to ReplyDonโt miss this great food!
Our food was simply amazing! Our server, Miles was so helpful. He told us what to order and everything we ate was fresh and delicious. Weโve never had food this interesting, yet so delicious!! We also ordered a vodka mule and it was great too!!! Donโt miss this treat while In Charleston!!!
Be the first to ReplyBad food, worse service
Highly disappointed with this place. Service was awful (nobody looked at us, helped us, or seemed to want to talk to us). Employee berated our dietary restrictions (vegetarian--not complicated or unheard of). Overcharged for the meal based on agreed-upon price. Rude service overall from start to finish, and the food was really not worth it--too spicy and too salty and not enough depth in the flavors. Only redeeming quality is that the owner called to talk about the dining experience, but still, I was very disappointed with the restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyEverything on menu is spicy
Nothing on their limited menu that isn't spicy except rice. Kind of expensive for what you get (I had 5 dumplings and small side of bok choy for $17). King Street is nearest parking. Some other dishes l saw looked good, but was told that are very spicy...not for me.
Be the first to ReplyLaid back and nice environment for friends and couples. Not for families.
Excellent flavor. The cabbage pancake is the hit. Great for couples, but I am happy the kids where not with us. Couldnโt find something kids friendly on the menu. Most of the dishes are too spicy.
Be the first to Replyhmm..ok for date night but really not great for families
We visited as a family with 2 kiddos, there is nothing for kids on the menu...we ordered 8 different things from the menu..was too spicy..or just different ( and we like different lol). Overall we eat everything, and tasted ok, the cabbage pancake was the best for sure.
we will not return here with the kids!
Service was fast and very friendly staff. Location has a nice vibe.
Xiao Bao rocks!
Fantastic full service at the bar. Food choices were all filled with excellent flavour. Steamed dumplings had ginger without being overpowering. Papaya salad was very good and perfect level of spice. Other dishes equally as good. Loved this spot!

Such an unassuming restaurant. The food will blow your mind! Smaller plates and easy to share. We ordered 7 different dishes and they all were phenomenal. A must is the okonomiyako and the pad kra pow. Cancel your fancy, high-end dinner reservation (like we did) and go here, so worth it!!

The staff was really friendly and helped make recommendations for my group, which included vegetarians and gluten-free. It was really easy to share plates and try a bunch of different things. There were no misses - everything we had was incredible!

Second time here, and I wish I had more time in Charleston so I could come back a few more times! Enjoyed the dumplings and side of bok choi with rice for a solo lunch in the sun; if I come back I wanna try the Fancy Boy Rice or Okonomiyaki!
Be the first to ReplyOne of our best meals in Charleston (if not THE best)!
This place was a fantastic surprise for us and ended up being a highlight of our trip to Charlestown. I had the cabbage pancake with all the toppings and it was phenomenal, probably one of the tastiest meals Iโve ever had! Our server (Miles I think?) was really cool too and gave us lots of great suggestions about the menu and restaurants to try in Folly Beach. He was awesome!

Great Asian restaurant with a small selection, but what they do is delicious. We had the dumplings steamed and fried and both were delicious
We had a Thai fried rice with beef and green beans that was delicious . The patio is fun , love outdoor seating. Casual atmosphere , great service, delicious vodka pear cocktail. Canโt wait to go back !
