Yoon Haeundae Galbi New York Reviews from The Last Year
We dropped in for a late night dinner without a reservation.
Luckily, they could kindly take us but not for BBQ. Of course we didn't mind it. We started with the signature Busan pancake and it had the right combination of meat, seafood & veggies. Now I know why this app is so popular. The hamachi crudo, the fish melted in our mouth. I could have ordered another. The bibimbap came sizzling to the table and it was a hearty entree with all the right flavors. The food, hospitality & service were excellent. This will definitely be on my list to visit anytime we are in NYC.
If I could rate them 0 I would.
Came here on a Monday night after hearing great things. Unfortunately it was the worst experience I've had traveling around the world and eating at thousands of restaurants. From ordering to receiving our first out of three meats ordered- 30minutes! Finished in 3minutes. Time till next plate? 18minutes! We still had another plate remaining. No server came by to check in with us. Only their busser who was refilling our waters was the best worker. The rest of the workers and business is a sham. Go get kbbq elsewhere. The quality is not good enough to get garbage service and slow speeds while not having a full house. Absolutely garbage. Avoid avoid avoid.

Came here for a friend's birthday dinner! Great place for large groups, they combined two tables for our party of 9. The bbq here is very good and high quality. Service was attentive but a little upselling which made us a bit uncomfortable. For example, they originally brought bottled water. We had a feeling this wasn't free so we asked if they had tap water, which they said no.....so when the receipt came, we were kind of annoyed by how much the water cost. Additionally, we weren't sure how big the appetizers were and they told us it was very small and to order more. So we listened but when it came out, it was huge. The cocktails are super good though which made up for the weirdness. And they allowed us to bring our own cake ($2 fee per person)
I had an amazing experience at Yoon Haeundae Galbi.
The service was impeccable, the host and waitress were very attentive and friendly. The decor and ambiance were elegant and cozy, perfect for a romantic date night or a special occasion. The food was incredible! Be aware that some dishes are spicier than average, but if you can handle it, you're in for a treat. I recommend the Busan Neighborhood pancake, which has a chewy texture and a delicious sauce. The Beef Ji Ji Mi was like a beef tempura, crispy and tender. The Korean Fried Chicken was also amazing, very crunchy and juicy. We ordered the Prime package, which was enough food for three people. The meats were cooked right at our table by the staff, who cut and portioned them for us. The shortrib was the star of the package, it was so tender and flavorful, we ordered it without any marinade to taste the natural quality of the meat. The meat came with small side dishes (Banchan) that complemented the meal very well. I especially liked the green salad, the kimchi, the fish cake, and the pickled green peppers with onions. The Wagyu Kimchi Fried Rice was also very tasty, although I would have preferred a little less cheese on it. Overall, this was a fantastic dining experience, and I will surely come back again. While it's not the cheapest meal, the high-quality food and unique flavors are worth the splurge. If you are looking for Korean cuisine with a modern twist, you won't regret it!
An okay restaurant.
Good service is something I really value-- food can only be so memorable, but how you feel after an experience is perhaps more important. Unfortunately, our waitress was extremely rude. I was debating writing a review because I would love to give her the benefit of the doubt and attribute her actions to having a bad day, but after more thought I feel like people should be warned. Our waitress spoke with an obvious accent, so after ordering our appetizers in English and overhearing her speak to another waiter in Korean, my dad ordered our entrees in Korean (he speaks both Korean and English fluently). However, she pretended to not understand and claimed to only know English, though she continued to converse with her colleagues in Korean. This was a bizarre encounter, and I haven't had anything like this happen before. Not to mention, she was inattentive throughout the meal and was not understanding of my brother's shellfish allergy. I came in a larger group of 8, and we all left with a sour taste in our mouth. The actual meat was good, and I enjoyed the Busan Neighborhood pancake (though it is not your traditional Korean pancake). We ordered a couple of the packages, jap-che, and another noodle dish. The redeeming grace of this restaurant is their food

We went on a Tuesday night and they had one table left for walk-in. The service from the host and waitress was phenomenal. The decor and ambiance is great for a date. Unfortunately, my three star rating is for the food. The taste is somewhat bland and the meat could be better. Unfortunately, my husband and I left here unsatisfied.

This place is great! I went with a large group for a birthday, and everything went well. The staff were great and were able to handle the large party with zero problems. My partner started with the steak tartare and I had the Galbi Dumplings (steamed), and I've been dreaming of them ever since. The grounded short rib inside was cooked perfectly and the flavour was amazing. If we didn't have mains coming, I could have eaten 4 more orders of the dumplings. Our section of the table ordered the Prime/Mari package and it was the perfect amount of food for three people. The meats were delicious and the staff cooks them right at your table, cutting and portioning as well. We also ordered the tasty Lettuce Ssam Set to go with the meat, which was great. My Drunken Monkey cocktail was good, and had a nice presentation. My partner had the non-alcoholic Passionate Passion Fruit and it was absolutely delicious. I like it better than my cocktail. We all had a great experience and I would dine here again.

Solid choice for Korean Barbecue! We ordered the Marinated Package (which was about the right amount of food for three people) along with Potato Pancake and the Lettuce Ssam set (the lettuce wraps need to be ordered separately). Of the meats, we liked the Marinated Short Rib and the Beef Belly the best. The servers do the cooking at your table and do a great job moving dinner along.
Ambiance? Very fitting for dinner.
Definitely somewhere for late night dates. I went here for my company holiday dinner and the way they fit all of us was very nice. The food was a very good quality, with the cooking done for us as well. The beef was very tender, although I personally did not like some of the cuts. The Busan pancake was something I read was amazing, but I didn't love it. The texture on the bottom was a bit off-putting since it's more of a chewy rather than crunchy texture. The uni mentaiko rice was amazing, although the portion was a bit small. The service was questionable. One of the individuals at my table ordered a cocktail maybe 15 minutes after our reservation and did not get it until 10 minutes before we left the venue. I also understand that we were a large party but I felt that we were rushed out of there towards the end. Overall, good food, wish the portion was bigger, and maybe better service for a larger group.
@yoon_nyc_1964 .
If your Korean friend recommends a Korean restaurant, it's a no brainer that it must be good, and indeed it was... . It was New Years Day so we wanted something nice and away from the Flushing scene so this was the perfect place. Took the LIRR and it was about a 15-20 mins walk to the restaurant. . We were seating quickly. We already knew what we wanted to we didn't have to waste much time browsing the menu.. . Busan Neighborhood Pancake - not your traditional pancake, it seems more doughy, not airy and crispy. It is topped with an egg mixture and a shrimp per slice... I thought it was ok. . Fresh Short Rib - no marinade whatsoever, so it's as fresh tasting as it gets. Such pure tasting, all you need is a little bit of salt to enhance it... . Marinated Short Rib - prob the most popular cut when it comes to kbbq. The marinate makes the meat juicy and tender. It was very tasty. . Potato Noodle - this completes the meal IMO. It's not that we weren't full from the meal but this just sets everything in place. The noodles are cooked in a sweet sauce. It soaks in all the sauce so it's starchy and very soft, almost mushy, but I don't mind my noods a bit overcooked... . It's not a cheap meal at all, but we splurged a bit being that it was the New Year...
Excellent Food!
The food was very delicious and the staff cooks the the meats in front of you. We selected the Marinated Package which includes marinated Short Rib ,marinated N.Y. Strip, marinated Beef Belly, and all the sides.
