Fantastic for a group outing
We were a group of 12 and we had a FANTASTIC meal at Angel. The food was surprising, interesting, rib-sticking, and just delicious. There were plenty of options for vegetarians as well as carnivores. We left full and warm and simply delighted. Thank you to Azar and Angel and we will return!

Extraordinary Indian food at a very reasonable price. There are just a few tables in this unassuming store front, but the food is absolutely first rate. Parking is a nightmare, and takeout might prove a more viable option than dining in.

Authentic and delicious food. Service 5 stars. Amazing experience. Limitless recommended. Low prices.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing, ate here twice in one day
The dining experience at Angel was so fantastic, my family and I ate twice i.e.both lunch and dinner on the same day during our visit to Jackson Heights. The service is prompt, attentive and heartwarming. As vegetarians, we enjoyed the paneer dishes as well as the cheese Naan and samosa chaat.
Be the first to ReplyDelightful paneer
40.74723 -73.89093 with a 2021 Michelin Bibi Gourmand, you’d better make reservations at this small Jackson Heights restaurant, even though they have built an annex in front. The inside looks like a no-frills small diner with one row of tables. Nothing fancy to distract you from the real magic of meatless food from chef Amrit Pal Singh, who grew up in Punjab. With such high demand for tables and people queuing up, the service looks disorganised. But the kitchen has everything under control and the disorganisation stops there and quickly delivers rapidly delicious dishes. In June 2023, we ordered samosa ($5,99) as starters, which were excellent, and the house-made paneer kurchan ($17,99) that arrives with a dark, spicy curry of tomatoes and peppers with garlic naam ($5). Across India, paneer is part of every buffet in hotels and (roadside) restaurants ("dhabas"). Though tasty, it is not refined in flavour and texture. Therefore, you have to go to a non-buffet restaurant to experience delicious paneer. Angel restaurant is on that level. Angel restaurant serves delightful paneer. Highly recommended.

Really good food across the board. Good menu with many options. The owner chef works very hard and could not be nicer, if busy. Very recommended.

The food is always very palatable and the staff has always been friendly every time. My friends and I order from Angel at least two times per month, whether carry out or dine in.

A star in a sea of competition
An excellent experience at this family-run restaurant steps from the Roosevelt Avenue subway stop. The service was attentive and friendly - no staff shortages here. The food was superb. Best saag poneer I have ever enjoyed, and a goat biryani that is distinctive and very different. Worth the trip.
Be the first to ReplyHole in a wall place, mind-blowing food, fantastic service. Don't pay attention to ambiance just go in, won't regret.
Great restaurant. One of the best Indian restaurants in the whole of NYC. If you go, don't be surprised by the outside, or the ambiance, just order and eat the food. The chef is also the owner of the restaurant and was friendly and came to talk to us. The food was very tasty. I am crazy about biryanis and this was by far one of the best biryanis ever (look at the picture)....yup, all their biryanis are cooked this way with naan on top of the container. Food is just mind-blowing.

Fantastic "Hole In The Wall " Indian restaurant! Rumor has it the chef was the sous chef at high end Indian restaurant in Manhattan. Sure tastes like it - the food is out-a-site delicious.
Rumor also has it the chef makes his own Paneer. That's a must-try.
I also recommend the dum biryani.
I must return and try ALL of the dishes on the menu.
Excellent authentic Indian
Excellent authentic Indian food. Prepared on time and ready for pick up as promised. The only issue, if you can even call it that, is that the gentleman answering the phone barely spoke English, and it was a bit difficult to place an order. Otherwise, a food experience all in all. They are following COVID guidelines.

Angel Indian is vegetarian only but the dishes are distinctively cooked and flavored. this small restaurant is not a "hole in the wall" but rather a hidden gem. Wonderful attentive service along with great food. They take reservations.

All vegetarian menu is spectacular! Familiar dishes with remarkable flavoring like the paneer makhani. Amazing attentive service. Small but pleasant. They take reservations.

We went here for dinner as a group. This is a small building with fantastic food; it is vegetarian but so special! And you can bring your own liquor; they will supply glasses for you. There was no fee for the glasses but if you need a cork screw take your own.
The people next to us were drinkng beers, we took a nice bottle of cider.
They have just a few tables so you might want to call ahead. We did and they were almost ready for us.
We ordered six dishes for four of us. We had plenty of food. We had Dahi Batata Pun and Pakda Kale for appetizers. Matar Paneer, Bhindi masala, and vegetable Dum Biryani for entrees. A large bowl of rice came with and we ordered garlic naan. I had a masala chai for only one dollar.
All four us ate for under $13 each. That is a bargain!
Again, the food was fantastic. Go now before too many people hear about this!
Simple surroundings, scrumptious food
Driving home from LaGuardia Airport, the highway was a parking lot so my husband and I detoured to try this restaurant.
I'm not a vegetarian and often am bored by vegetarian cuisine, but this food was absolutely fantastic! We had two dishes that were so satisfying we didn't need to order more; the service was excellent (our waiter was friendly and helpful); and the price was right. We will happily go back!
All veggie and great
New place, from an established chef who makes dynamite Indian recipes. We actually went back, and I forgot that I was not Vegetarian! Try their house specialties, share, etc. Go soon as the owner/chef is personally cooking during the start-up. Tall guy in back with the NY Yankees cap.
Do know that it's BYOB like many places in this area of town. Bring a bottle from Table Wines a few blocks away. Don't mind the diner ambience, it is inexpensive and worth so much more.
