Such an amazing cozy experience on a rainy day.
Made a reservation for a late lunch at 2pm or so and it was still pretty packed! Sat in the outdoor tent area. Service was great and food was delicious - really really hit the spot. My favorites were the garlic naan with lamb vindaloo and the samosas. While I enjoyed the channa masala and chicken briyani, they weren't my favorite and could have been more flavorful or spicy. Definitely recommend and I will be back!! So happy I got to try. Truly still craving this food.

I came to this restaurant for their delicious food, not for their venue and service. I made no mistake, it was indeed very delicious!

Be the first to ReplyOh man, my friend and I were SO looking forward to dinner
Oh man, my friend and I were SO looking forward to dinner here, but it turned out to be a disappointment. Ratings and photos of the food looked amazing, especially the cool videos we've seen of the Dum Biryanis. We made a reservation for 8:30 p.m. (it was the only time slot left) on a Saturday. Despite arriving a few minutes before our reservation, we had to wait in the freezing cold for about 15 minutes until a table was finally ready. Staff was nice and helpful! We ordered Goat Dum Biryani ($24.99), Butter Chicken ($18.99), and Garlic Naan ($5). It was cool to see the waiter cut the naan open and reveal a clay pot of biryani, but that was the best part about the dish. The biryani wasn't spicy, barely had any salt, and overall it lacked flavor. The goat meat's texture was perfect but again, it was bland. The Butter Chicken just didn't hit the spot for me. The cream was quite heavy - as it should be - but it was kinda sweet. You can't go wrong with Garlic Naan, and that was the only thing I enjoyed here.

The service here is amazing although the Indian/desi food flavors are not authentic. If your a brown person that is coming here because the biryani looks cool on the gram DONT DO IT! You will be disappointed and realize that this place is a tourist trap when you order their sugary chicken tikka and some spicy and tasteless rice that they call "biryani".
Be the first to ReplyThe food is incredible, it's such small spot, tucked away.
You wouldn't even know that some of the best indian food ( Atleast that I've ever had in NYC exists ). The service is super fast, and the employees are very respectful. I recommend this place to anyone. You will not be disappointed.

I stopped in here for dinner as the place is small we sat at the curbside seating which was just a wooden box. I ordered the butter chicken which was not very rich in flavorful and was more soupy than anything.

5 Amazing Northern Indian restaurant in Jackson Heights! Would recommend having a reservation on the weekend - the place was really busy. We ordered the pani puri, dhal, lamb vindaloo, garlic naan, and chicken biryani. This was my first time trying pani puri and I loved it. It's refreshing, flavorful, and crispy and offsets the spice in the rest of the meal well. Would definitely order again. I was also a big fan of the dhal and chicken biryani, though I would note that every dish we ordered (except the pani puri) was decently spicy, even if they weren't labeled spicy on the menu. I don't often make the trek out to Jackson Heights, but this place is worth going to!
Be the first to ReplyIncredible food and a cozy experience.
I've had some good Indian cuisine, but this is next level.

Going again . Thanks my friend Tenzin for taking me there .
Be the first to ReplyI went all the way out to Jackson Heights.
Super excited about this place. It was freezing inside, and they had the heat turned up all the way. It was shocking. The tables are very small and cramped. The server was very nice. The panipuri was very cold -- too cold. The goat curry was excellent. Flavor point. Although they said it was spicy and it wasn't. The chicken biryani was a bit disappointing. Too dry. The paneer was very good. All in all very disappointed as I have huge expectations for this place. .
Be the first to ReplyFood was excellent and definitely trying that again.
Server was good and knowledgeable. The place is busy so expect to wait. The ambiance is street food vibe so if you are seeking the sit down comfort experience then you will be disappointed.
Be the first to ReplyThe restaurant is reportedly one of the top 5 Indian
The restaurant is reportedly one of the top 5 Indian restaurants in the city. Located in South Asian bustling neighborhood of Queen's, this restaurant was initially bit tricky to find as the lane where the place is located isn't brightly lit.Atmosphere- Restaurant gives you a typical Indian feel with not much emphasis on the interiors but rather kept it basic and simple. This feature is overcome by the quality of food they serve.Service- The waiters were quick enough to attend the table and note down the order. Also they served me well and were happy to provide onion and lemon as accompaniment after requesting them. The food quantity served was good too!Food- Things I ordered:1) Chicken P.B- 35: Staff mentioned that this is close to chilli chicken, and something which I gave a try, must say.. it was awesome! Certainly the star of the night. The chicken was nicely cooked and the soy sauce was in the right amount. Staff were happy to provide us with an extra green chutney on request.2) Garlic naan: The naan I can say was good, it had the right amount of crisp and also the garlic taste which is required, cooked to perfection!3) Chicken Makhani: In other words, call it butter chicken! The gravy was really good. Tbh the best butter chicken I had in the US and the main reason being the gravy which wasn't sweet as compared to the other places. Could have been better had they added a bit more masala to up the spiciness of the gravy which would have enhanced the flavor of the dish.4) Chicken Dum Biryani: I did have a bit of high hopes but this did let me down a bit. The chicken though was cooked well but little more cooking while on dum would do better I think and also they can try to make it a bit more flavorful. Conclusion: Overall a good place to visit and have a good Indian food. I would really love to try out more delicacies from this place.

Angel Restaurant looks pretty small and unremarkable in a neighborhood packed with other Indian restaurants. While many of the other nearby spots emphasize quick homey cooking, Angel's food is probably on par with any of the best destination Indian restaurants in the city (the owner is in fact a veteran chef of one of them), just in a less glitzy but much more affordable package. My friend and I went at noon on a Saturday and were surprised to find it empty. We were started off with come complimentary papadum (like a very thin fried tortilla) and cucumber sauce, then ordered the kale pakora and vegetable biryani. The kale pakora is drizzled with colorful sauce and is just as exquisite to eat, the bright flavors of the sauce perfectly balancing the deep-fried fritter that wasn't heavy but delicately crispy; I was trying to catch the crumbs as they fell off the fritter, it was that good. The biryani was just as beautiful, coming in a clay pot with an impressive naan-like bread dome that the server cuts into and stirs in a mesmerizing process. The freshly-made paneer was softer and more flavorful than any other I've had, and the flavors were so aromatic that I didn't miss the meat at all. The biryani plus the bread dome was a generous amount of food, and we ended up bringing some home; sharing one appetizer and biryani with leftovers ended up being a pretty good value. By the end of our meal, the restaurant was deservedly completely full with some even dining outdoors despite the cold - I guess everyone just decided to sleep in. I don't often order biryani at Indian restaurants and usually go for a curry, but you HAVE to get the biryani here, and/or anything with the paneer. This place isn't as cheap as some of the other Indian spots around, but it's worth it for the freshness and quality of the food and the attentive service (plus, they take card!). I'd absolutely make the trip from Manhattan to eat here again. But if you're planning to do a Jackson Heights food tour, you might not have room for anything else after stopping here!

Fantastic! I'm a tough critic having lived in Queens for most of my adult life. The place is a bit of a hole in the wall, but it's clean and the food was quality. My Indian friend recommended it. The service was also great! We ate our weight in Indian food that day and had a great time.
Be the first to ReplyThey don't always have the best service because they get so
They don't always have the best service because they get so busy, but they try their best. Their paneer khurchan and other paneer dishes are so so fresh and I highly recommend it. They also have a vegetarian biryani which is flavorful and satisfying.

With all these reviews and seeing a lot of videos about this restaurant in many social media posts, I had a very high expectation from this place. Also when I saw the crowd in the restaurant it made me crave the food even more. Sadly my expectations were crumbled when I had the food. The food was under seasoned, it didn't taste authentic and it had a weird after taste on a lot of the items we tried. Also if you're in Jackson Heights, there are many other restaurants which are cheaper with better food than this place. They do outdoor and indoor seating and the service was amazing but sadly I cant say the same for the food I had there.
