Asa Restaurant Los Gatos Reviews from The Last Year
Excellent food, service and ambience at ASA.
Our server was really good and explained all the specials and even suggested a Smokey cocktail I wanted. The food was excellent and fish I ordered was really fresh as well. The desserts were delicious and overall a great dinning experience. While their location in Los Altos is really nice. This sister restaurant is quaint.
An average culinary experience with below average service.
Parking - not great. The restaurant has a few spots in front but otherwise you'll have to find street parking on the side. Service - slow, felt like everyone had read the menu 4 times over before our waiter acknowledged our existence. Our waitress put a damper on the experience with her curt attitude and general indifference. The person who refilled our water was very nice though and checked on us constantly. Food: Anchovy bread 5/5: ignoring that you are paying $16 for 4 tiny slivers of fish on top of little bread, the flavor was quite good and we enjoyed this Rainbow beet salad 2/5: Maybe I'm just not a beet fan. Very vibrant and colorful dish though (good for pictures) Argentine steak 5/5: really good flavor, probably the favorite dish of the night. came with some well seasoned fries Seared albacore tuna 3.5/5: tasted like what you would expect seared tuna to taste like, not good not bad, I enjoyed the rice and watercress pairing Exotic mushroom pasta 3.5/5: good flavors but eventually is a bit much and there's nothing else to kind of offset the flavors since it's just pasta and mushrooms. Maybe some more of the shaved cheese would have helped Overall just an average experience that didn't feel worth the $ spent
Had a very nice dinner here.
I've been here several times and it's always been good. I suggest you get the pork chop which is large and really well done. This restaurant seems to be well done and not too noisy.
Incredible food.
My boyfriend and I love this place. Great wine and great food - the mushroom pasta is to die for... if you get it, add chicken!
The food is amazing! Fantastic atmosphere, excellent wine

I came here with my husband and two kids to celebrate his birthday. The server was rude and had a weird attitude towards us. She was impatient with my hubby when he was ordering the appetizers and I barked out the special. I had to tell her we wanted to order drinks and again she seemed inconvenienced by it. When we got the appetizers (the lady that brought our food was super sweet and nice) she proceeded to inform us that we should hurry up and order because the restaurant was full and the food would take a while. They way she said it was super rude. Then we proceeded to order and got our food. The appetizers were fine we ordered shrimps and ribs. I ordered the argentine steak and it was so disappointing. The meat was not tender and the side was just potatoes and ketchup. My daughter ordered the paella and it was not good either. Too saucy and the saffron flavor overpowered everything else. There was another server that was also so nice and answered our questions about the paella but the main server ruined the mood and our celebration. Im not sure what was going on but I don't think this restaurant is worth what they are charging. Overall very dissatisfied with the experience.

Loved our dining experience here! The waitresses were very friendly and helped steer us towards the most recommended drinks and dishes towards our taste preferences. I loved my guava tequila drink that had the perfect amount of spice, with subtle hints of jalapeño. We started with the stacked beet salad and it was a hit. The citrusy apple really complimented well with the beets. The truffle fries and ketchup were also delicious and a great start to get us excited about the other dishes. The ketchup being homemade made a huge difference in the taste. The garlic shrimp was heavenly. We had to get a baguette to soak up every last bit of the sauce. ;) The mushroom pasta had equally delicious flavor and sauce that we also dipped the bread in. The beef was so soft and tender. I'm not usually a fan of this dish, but the sauce was above par at ASA. The ham coquettes were something special. These were just as good as the ones I had in Spain last year; a real treat! Compliments to the chef to pull them off. And last, but not least we finished the celebratory dinner with the banana bread pudding! Well worth the 20 minute wait! It was perfectly caramelized and was a huge portion for the 3 of us to split. They even brought out ice cream as a complimentary birthday treat. Thank you ASA for a wonderful meal!
Affordable Fine Dining
I tend to avoid Michelin rated restaurants as I usually end up paying an exorbitant price for a beautiful but overrated meal. Well, my experience at Asa forces me to reevaluate my prejudices. As you would expect in any highly rated restaurant the decor is sumptuous, elegant and inviting. The staff is professional and friendly. Best, of course, is the food. We had the lamb shank and the sea bass. Both were beautifully prepared and presented. We all thoroughly enjoyed the evening and look forward to returning.
Unbelievably Great
What a dinner experience. The food, wine, service, friends were incredible. The food was outstanding. I got the scallops and were amazing. Our cousins in the areas suggested this place. It is worth the parking hassle. Highly recommend.

My hubby & I went to ASA last weekend for an early Valentine's day dinner with high expectations, knowing that it is a Michelin star restaurant. Every dish that we ordered was really good & cooked perfectly! For starters, we ordered garlic shrimp & house burrata. For our mains, I enjoyed my Argentine steak served with fries (although I'm not a fan of fries & wished there's other sides options available), and hubby loved his Bone-in Pork Chop with a side of apple chutney & yukon potatoes. Finished off with a chocolate molten cake, so delicious if you're a chocolate lover. Service is very good and attentive, but I Had to deduct 1 star for the tables being too close to each other that you can literally hear what everyone next to you is talking about. I'll definitely be back to try out their other dishes, but maybe not for a date night.
Found this place by dumb luck and it was AMAZING.
The food is outstanding - we tried a bunch of menu items and they were all fantastic. Highly recommend. The only thing that would have been better is if we were able to eat inside vs. the outdoor heated patio.
