Bistro Jeanty Yountville Reviews from The Last Year
Another great evening of food and a super ambiance that
Another great evening of food and a super ambiance that make Wii feel both at home and in a bistro in Paris. We tried the tomato soup and as usual it was excellent. The pate with cornichons was excellent and is my fav! Lots of French bread.... Octopus special was ok. A little dry and no sauce. We asked for some and it was better but not great. Beet salad was excellent! I highly recommend this place!!!
Celebrated Mother's Day in the tony city of Yountville for
Celebrated Mother's Day in the tony city of Yountville for my mom and my sister. What a pretty little town. I am unfamiliar with French food, even though I am big eater. Didn't know what Coq Au Vin was other than it contained braised chicken in a burgundy wine sauce. This guy said, "oui, oui, oui, oui" It was decadant. The rest of the family ordered things I could not pronounce, but smelled absolutely wonderful. Everything was delicious and I am now beginning to appreciate it. The only things I knew were the fries and bread (d'oh!). Service was excellent as our needy family pressed the patient staff into service. A tip of the cap to our server, sadly I forgot her name. For those who like the photos, here you go.
We've come here for anniversaries and business.
Always great food and a solid wine list. Service was a tad slow on this occasion, but we were with family members visiting from Virginia, and they were duly impressed with our experience here. A quick point--We reserved on a Monday on short notice and the maitresse d'hotel asked if it was a special occasion, we told them about our guests, and she made them feel quite welcome. This, plus food and ambience, is what makes the area special. Well done!
Classic bistro fare done at an amazing level.
We had the mussels and a lyonnaise salad both were excellent. Service was excellent and the decor was very nice.
Service amazing- friendly and knowledgeable! Food exceeded
Service amazing- friendly and knowledgeable! Food exceeded every expectation- again and again. Highly recommend!
We started with the cassolette d'escargots.
It consisted of ravioli covered with a rich sauce with escargot, garlic, and herbs, served in a little saucepan with two pieces of puff pastry on top. It was at this time that we were served a basket of bread with butter, though the sauce was great for dipping as well. We then got a coq au vin and lapin a la moutarde. The coq au vin was hearty and the chicken was seasoned well. The potatoes, mushrooms, and bacon added a lot of dimension to the dish. The lapin a la moutarde consisted of five pieces of pancetta-wrapped rabbit loin over a bed of pappardelle pasta. The sauce was creamy and went well with both the pasta and the rabbit pieces.
Bistro Jeanty in Napa Valley was recommended by another
Bistro Jeanty in Napa Valley was recommended by another guest during a wine tour, and it did not disappoint. The food is very authentic, offering French cuisine that I couldn't find elsewhere. The atmosphere is cute and cozy, and the service is great. Definitely a must-visit spot for anyone in the area!
Dining at Bistro Jeanty was an experience.
From the moment we walked up, we were transported to a charming corner of France. My friend brought her dog with us, and the outdoor seating area was perfect - vibrant flower pots surrounding a welcoming bench set the mood for a delightful afternoon. We had a reservation (highly recommend!), and the friendly host immediately seated us. Our server truly elevated the experience. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and daily specials, patiently guiding us through our choices. Her attentiveness was perfect - our water glasses were always full, and she even ensured my friend's dog had a fresh bowl of water. We started with appetizers, and the complimentary bread and butter were a delightful surprise. The bread, sourced from the Bouchon Bakery next door, was crusty and delicious, paired well with the perfectly salted butter. They were happy to bring us more when we devoured the first basket! Our appetizers were a true testament to French culinary mastery. The Quenelles de Brochet (pike dumplings) were light and crispy, swimming in a luxurious and creamy lobster sauce. My one friend got the escargots and loved it. My other friend ordered a salad (though I can't recall the exact type), which was fresh and perfectly seasoned with dressing and herbs. For the mains, we went all out! The Steak Frites Wagyu flat iron steak was a showstopper. Cooked to perfection, it was juicy and bursting with flavor. The béarnaise sauce was tangy and incredible, taking the steak to a whole new level. The fries were crispy, golden brown, and the portion size of both the steak and fries was generous. The Boeuf Bourguignon was also really good. Tender, melt-in-your-mouth short ribs were bathed in a rich and deeply savory sauce, the heart and soul of the dish. The red Burgundy wine base, simmered with aromatics, infused every bite with a symphony of flavors. My indecisiveness between the Sole Meunière and Steak Frites was charmingly handled by our server. She offered to bring me the lemon caper butter (free of charge!) on the side with my steak, allowing me to experience both flavors. This small gesture exemplified the exceptional service throughout our meal. The steak tartare was another highlight. The ground beef was naturally lean and tender, resulting in a smooth and luxurious texture. The raw egg yolk added a creamy counterpoint, and all the different textures and flavors came together in perfect harmony. Overall, I highly recommend Bistro Jeanty. From the charming atmosphere to the outstanding service and food, every detail is a testament to their dedication to excellence.
Bistro Jeanty in Yountville offers a delightful dining
Bistro Jeanty in Yountville offers a delightful dining experience in a charming, rustic setting. During our visit, we indulged in a variety of exquisite dishes that truly showcased the restaurant's commitment to quality and traditional French cuisine. We started with the Salade de Langue D'Agneau (Warm Lamb Tongue Salad). This dish was a revelation, featuring tender lamb tongue pieces perfectly complemented by a mix of fresh greens, potatoes, and a tangy mustard dressing. The combination of textures and flavors made for a refreshing and memorable appetizer. Next, we enjoyed the Pan-Seared Scallops. These scallops were cooked to perfection, with a beautifully caramelized exterior and a tender, juicy center. They were served with a sweet pea coulis, mashed potatoes, and crispy onion rings, creating a harmonious blend of flavors and textures that delighted our taste buds. The Toasted Rabbit with Pancetta (Lapin à la Moutarde) was another standout. The rabbit was tender and flavorful, wrapped in crispy pancetta and served with pappardelle pasta, shiitake mushrooms, and a rich mustard sauce. This dish was a perfect example of how traditional French techniques can elevate simple ingredients into something truly special. For the main course, we had the Double Cut Veal Chop. This dish was a true masterpiece, featuring a succulent veal chop cooked to perfection and served with a creamy Camembert sauce, sautéed mushrooms, and a side of fresh greens. The veal was tender and juicy, and the sauce added a rich, creamy element that enhanced the overall flavor profile. To end our meal on a sweet note, we were treated to a complimentary serving of Vanilla Gelato. The gelato was incredibly smooth and creamy, with a rich vanilla flavor that was perfectly balanced. It was served with a delicate wafer, adding a nice crunch to each bite. Bistro Jeanty not only impressed us with its delicious food but also with its charming ambiance and attentive service. It's a must-visit spot in Yountville for anyone looking to experience authentic French cuisine in a cozy, welcoming setting. #BistroJeanty #YountvilleEats #FineDining #Foodie #GourmetExperience #WarmLambTongueSalad #PanSearedScallops #ToastedRabbit #DoubleCutVealChop #VanillaGelato #YountvilleDining #NapaValley #CulinaryDelights
Glad we were able to get reservations.
Parking available on the street. Indoor or outdoor options. Tables are a bit small so I'm glad they space out the appetizers and main entree's appropriately. Service alone was excellent. Somehow all our selections seemed to be alllll meat so I felt a bit overwhelmed with our appetizer and main entree selections. We should've ordered a fish or chicken option. The Wagyu was cooked perfectly. The veal and mushrooms was ok. First time having the bone marrow and I wasn't that much of a fan. I did enjoy their desserts. The chocolate brûlée was perfect. Cute place for first dates or just because type of a day.
Loved it!
We went for lunch, and loved everything about it. The service, food, drink selection and ambience were amazing. We will definitely return.
Pretty and classic bistro with master chef cooking
A classic French bistro ambience with white laced windows, yellow walls and petite tables with a full of happy crowd. Staff is friendly and efficient. Food is classic on its face and yet has original and creative twist to signature dishes. Twice baked crab and cheese soufflé was our favorite. Grilled chicken with creamy cheese mustard sauce was very nice as well. You probably wouldn’t go wrong with any choice here. Bon appetite!
This is a wonderful restaurant in Yountville that everyone
This is a wonderful restaurant in Yountville that everyone needs to try!! I loved our table outside and our waiter was delightful!! We ordered a bottle of Far Niente Chardonnay which was amazing. I loved my tomato soup which was served in a regular bowl not a bread bowl. There is something very special about it. I ordered the octopus salad and it was tender and the greens added a more intense flavor. Bf had the scallops and they were perfectly cooked and the sauce was so good!! We really splurged on dessert and the ice cream with prunes was a weird but great combination!! I would HIGHLY recommend making a reservation here and we will be back soon!!
Absolutely EXCELLENT! I love everything about this place.
The food is magnificent and service is stellar! I've always wanted to dine here while visiting Yountville and this last Mother's Day, I didn't hesitate to book a reservation. I had set a reservation for two at 12:15 pm but Hubby and I arrived Mother's Day around 11:45 am and they sat us right away. We were greeted with a smile from literally everyone. I really admire how friendly and warm everyone is here. Especially Tara. She took the time to explain some specials and gave recommendations. She even asked if we were on a time constraint. Even though we weren't, I felt it was very thoughtful of her to ask in case we needed to move things along. We shared the bone marrow appetizer...so perfectly buttery and easy on the crispy bread. I absolutely recommend. Hubby really enjoyed his crab benedict, and I loved my crab and lobster soufflé. I had a side salad and I am so glad I did because that butter lettuce with the dressing is light and delicious. Pairs with anything meal! We had the creme brulee dessert and it was sweet but still a favorite! There is a small parking lot attached but fills up quickly. There is street parking but you may need to drive around a few times depending on the time of day. Even if you park further out, take a nice stroll on the way back. There were so many items to choose from that I cannot wait to come back. Thank you for a wonderful Mother's Day brunch!
The best brioche french toast I've ever had.
Had to return for more with out-of-town friends.
This used to be one of our favorite restaurants.
We liked coming here for special occasions and when we had out of town guests visiting we'd bring them here. No longer will this be our restaurant of choice. This particular evening we chose Bistro Jeanty for our special anniversary dinner, in hindsight, a mistake. We were very disappointed that we came here and after our terrible experience it put a damper on our evening. Thanks a lot! When we first walked in the host at the front desk was RUDE!!! Practically glared at us, no smiles, just curt answers to our questions. Just because you work at Bistro Jeanty you're not all that. You don't own the place, get over yourself. Then our server... INATTENTIVE!! After he introduced himself, and later brought our wine, he didn't come back to our table until he asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu. Ah...no. At that point we knew we would rather stop at Nob Hill to get a pint of Haagen Daz. The problem with our server was that he was paying a lot of attention to the 2 other tables nearby. I guess he thought they'd leave him a better tip?? He didn't even bring us usual bread and butter offered, but the other tables got some. WTH?? And to top it off, our food was cold. Okay, maybe not just out of the freezer cold, but lukewarm. The funny thing is the food seemed to come to our table fairly quickly, so it was puzzling why our food wouldn't be hot. ?!?!?!?!? Was it really the Chef's fault? IDK No longer does Bistro Jeanty offer the excellent service or exceptional food we've had in the past. I guess the long lasting effect Covid had on restaurants being able to hire qualified staff was reflected here by the fact that they had to hire people with subpar experience, and personality. Looking at some of the other critical reviews it seems that management needs to take a good look at their shortcomings and make some much needed adjustments. I gave 3 stars because the food tasted good, even if it went for a stroll around the block before it got to our table.
Food was amazing.
Service impecable. We had a reservation and were treated with respect as well as a welcoming server. Highly recommend for an intimate setting and great food.
OK, last year we came here twice.
Sat inside the first time, service was fantastic. Came here a second time, sat at the bar and again service was excellent. The food has been and still is a 5 STAR. This time, my friend and I came for dinner with Open Table reservations for 2 at 7:30 (standard seating). When we arrived, we were told all they had was patio seating, OK? It was quite busy that night. We were seated on the patio and as my friend scooted the chair under him to sit down he poked his had deep into something sharp in the chair and nail of some sort, to the point he was bleeding. We brought it to the managers attention and it was quickly resolved. After that our server Austin came by and placed the specials down and left. Sitting for a bit, I had to flag our server down to order cocktails. When our cocktails arrived we ordered the Escargot, Tartare and Crab Souffle. I noticed there was a charge for bread on the menu. I asked if the Escargot came with some toast or bread to sop up all the butter sauce and was told no it's an extra charge for a whole basket. REALLY, I've been reading more and more restaurants nickel and diming. How can you not have just a couple pieces of bread with Escargot. You have the Toast for the Tartare and mussel dishes. So basically it was a very long evening of waited for food and drinks, hailing down our server to ask where our cocktails and food were coming killed the whole dining experience. We were basically there from 7:30 to 9:30. Atmosphere: quaint French bistro feel. Service: poor. Food: excellent.

My absolute favorite restaurant in the Valley! Always
My absolute favorite restaurant in the Valley! Always consistently a delight when visiting Bistro Jeanty. Every time you visit you are greeted quickly with waters as well as a cute table side specials white board. The food is amazing on every trip with great flavors and wines to accompany the food. Bread and butter is by request because it costs $3, The Cassoulet is unique and unreal! I crave the buttered egg noodles more often than I should ! I highly recommend ordering a side of noodles to go with your Beef Bourguignon or Coq Au Vin sauce! Whenever they have the chocolate Crème Brûlée on the menu it is a must order! Generous portions, staff, and hospitality all around!
Overall experience was great, restaurant is a family owned
Overall experience was great, restaurant is a family owned business. Service was great, food was brought out in the order we requested. A very enjoyable experience from start to end! Lobster/Crab soufflé was amazing. my favorite item of everything we ordered. 10 out of 10 Truffled deviled eggs, 9 out of 10, I would have given a 10 if they were a little more creamy. Fried smelts, 6 out of 10, battered lightly just no real flavor, they came to life after using the dipping sauce it came with. Mussels, 8 out 10, fresh and a large serving! The toasted bread it was served with was a little too hard but the waitress corrected it and brought out a fresh loaf. Beef Bourguignon, yummy, this reminded me of something you eat on a cold winter night in front of the fire place 9 out of 10, Lemon Caper Sole with buttered mash, 10 out of 10, so fresh and tasty, very light fish and the sauce was delectable. Bread pudding, DISGUSTING, everything about it was wrong! Wasn't baked long enough so it was mush with curdled eggs. Crème Brûlée, 8 out of 10, super tasty, nothing I haven't had before.
Tomato soup x 2.
No better order. Hostess was fabulous. Service staff was exemplary. The busier was the nicest guy in the restaurant. Never disappoints.
We have been dining at Bistro Jeanty for years.
On a recent visit with a party of 4 the Coq au Vin was over reduced And dry. Didn't send it Back but didn't eat it. Servers asked no questions and removed it without questions. Many dishes are cooked, frozen and reheated. We have experiemced this in the Past with cassoulet. Buyer beware. Loosening standards and coasting. Avoid if Poasible. David Jensen
LOVE this authentic French bistro in Yountville!
The food and service here is fantastic! Au coq vin with egg noodles and the French onion soup with that delicious pastry on top is so so so delicious. I come here frequently since I live nearby, and the service and food is always consistently wonderful. On a great day try eating out on their patio it’s a great space to dine!
Interesting and tasty French cuisine
It was very tasty. Beautiful and interesting presentation of dishes 😋. I ate some dishes for the first time. For example, a croissant with chocolate and ice cream, it was something extraordinary.
Charming French restaurant serving traditional dishes.
This felt like being in a French bistro (if sitting indoors). Gracious host and server. Had the traditional cassoulet that was enough for 2, filled with a duck leg confit, huge piece of pork belly, a whole sausage, and nusuke bacon. Well seasoned and served piping hot. The steak frites had an excellent huge portion of frites, but the steak wasn't as tender as it should have been. Perfect ambience for a date meal.
Absolutely great. Absolutely Paris.
Unbelievable, but these guys nailed it all to have authentic French food and authentic French atmosphere! It was absolutely amazing to have their Coq a Vin and their Duck Liver Pate and Tomato Soup and… some pork belly appetizer… Couldn't wish for more, and thank you people for great food! Service was impeccable too! It was just like Paris all along!
Excellent French bistro (but service was a bit aggressive)
Absolutely superb food - everything was just spot on. The restaurant was packed and clearly one needs to book in advance. If you haven't been able to get a booking at French Laundry, which is just down the road, you needn't feel like a second-class citizen if you end up at Bistro Jeanty, because it's excellent. The only 'black mark' was that the service, while very friendly and efficient, was a little aggressive - perhaps not for an American, but for a European, who is not so used to service being like this. In our case, our waitress aggressively pushed a particular dish, which raised our expectations, and it ended up being the one dish that was a little disappointing. She also made it clear that she expected a big tip. These are aspects that non-Americans might find difficult to deal with - at least I did.
Wonderful food! Great evening!
Fabulous from beginning to end. We enjoyed happy hour at the bar and then moved into the dining room for dinner. This is a cute little casual place with excellent and amazing food and service. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here!
Wonderful Lunch
We had a wonderful Valentine’s Day lunch. We all had the tomato soup - which is a must! All of the dishes and specials we had were great, so can’t single one out! Gina was a wonderful server and took great care of us. It was busy, but we thought ahead and made a reservation.
