Blue Door Kitchen & Garden Chicago Reviews from The Last Year
last night I had dinner.
we were seated inside. the ambiance was beautiful, the food tasted great and the server was so attentive. gave us an amazing service .Definitely recommend!

The ambiance and outdoor patio here is unmatched so I was excited to come here for brunch. We got the Kale and Brussels salad and Fried chicken Benedict. I found both the dishes to be a bit lackluster, despite the relative high price tag ($18 for a salad with no protein).

So disappointed with this place seemed to have great potential. We sat on the garden style covered patio which was comfortable and cool on a muggy morning. For some reason they just couldn't get it together although the wait staff was very attentive. Mimosas were nice touch, coffee was good, but no one was excited about their meals. Chicken & Waffles B-, Chicken Benedict looked much better than it was, also B-, avocado Toast solid A and a good size portion, and the BLT was just OK . Pretty pricy!
One of the most gorgeous restaurants I've ever been to.
I absolutely loved it, I could not stop looking around and being in awe. Their patio was gorgeous, however, could use some air flow. We had to ask to be moved inside because it was unbearably hot, which docks half a point for me. I ordered the butter milk chicken and my boyfriend the Cobb salad. I loved my meal, it was so homey and I loved the combination of chicken, mashed potatoes and hot sauce. My boyfriend also loved his Cobb salad. We paired it was a seasonal mimosa, which was recommended by the waitresss. It was peach flavoured and I could not stop smelling it. It was lovely & I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who visits Chicago.
A friend of mine and I went to Blue Door last Saturday
A friend of mine and I went to Blue Door last Saturday evening and sat on the covered patio. The salmon en croute and hummingbird cake were delicious, but we experienced the worst service we have EVER had in a restaurant. The waitress had no personality (never initiated any kind of conversation), never came back to our table to ask how we were doing, was MIA most of the evening so we had to ask others to find her. We also ordered the Mac & Cheese which never showed up, yet it was on our bill. To top it off the waitress plopped the bill on the table and walked off - not saying "thank you for coming" or "have a nice evening". And we let her know it was my birthday - of which she did not acknowledge. We blame the management for not training her properly - she has no client service skills and should not be on the floor until someone with serving experience shadows her for a few weeks. Very disappointed and frankly ruined my birthday dinner.

Really good food - the salmon was tasty, and love the cornbread and deviled eggs. The patio is very nice when the weather is good and there are plenty of heaters. You can depend on the restaurants on this block to always provide a good meal. On our most recent visit, the service was slow (especially since it was empty on a Sunday night), but we have generally had good waitstaff at Blue Door.

The front window is covered with Michelin awards and the interior is super cute, so I had high expectations walking in. Came here for a work lunch and ordered the $24 Chicken and Waffles, which is front and center on the menu. Service was attentive, friendly and perfect. Chicken and waffles came out and the fried chicken was good. Maybe could use more seasoning. The waffle was a little underwhelming -- I'm sure it was fluffy coming out, but a deflated experience while eating.Waffles. Maybe it's because the chicken was served on top of the waffle? On a positive note, it is a good amount of food. I only finished half!

Super cute atmosphere! It was surprisingly not that busy for an 11am on a Saturday! 3 of the 4 of us ordered the BLTs but I forgot photos! It was good but I specifically asked for no tomatoes and still got them . The BDK garden spritz was light and refreshing! I wasn't overly impressed with their menu and while the food was good, it's not a place I'm dying to come back to.
We had a great experience at Blue Door Kitchen and Garden!
We had a great experience at Blue Door Kitchen and Garden! Our waiter, Max, was so helpful, polite, and had excellent service. We will be back!
My daughter and I and two of our friends went for the first
My daughter and I and two of our friends went for the first time to the blue door in Chicago and I've been wanting to go for quite some time. I cannot tell you what a wonderful experience from the minute we walked in the door what a worm, loving feeling the atmosphere was, and the food was more than amazing everything was homemade from the opportunity of when they even gave us free, deviled eggs that were out of this world we had the butternut squash soup, the cauliflower steaks the presentation was beautiful, and the service that we got from Dominique was excellent we could not have asked for a better experience. This restaurant would be a six star, what a lovely, sweet cute atmosphere. We truly loved it and we will go back when we come in from the suburbs. Thank you from the Retzers
Lovely Place, Lovely staff
Very well managed French-style bistro. Neat, tidy table adorned with beautiful French tableware, and the waitstaff was efficient. The food was good. Fluffy pancakes, Scrambled eggs prepared wet, very French, and served with home-made toast. Worth the effort. We were billed a surprised-addition fee of $2.50 that I can’t reconcile the charge to a cause. But whatever, this is a good cafe.
Chicago Comfort Food
When it’s cold outside, and I mean REALLY cold, a little “comfort” sure is appreciated and might just be achieved by some “comfort food.” Thankfully @suz1974 pointed us towards the threshold of “The Blue Door.” I expected to be “comforted” by the Fried Chicken, but I was shocked to be equally “comforted” by the Butternut Squash Soup, the Hazelnut Green Beans, and the Deviled Eggs. While I continue to maintain that I’m not a “bread guy”, I was absolutely blown away by the Cornbread. 🤯 Any modicum of surprise on my part is completely unjustifiable considering that Chef Art Smith served as the personal Chef to Chicago icon Oprah Winfrey for a decade. Literally the only sad moment during our meal was when we realized we simply couldn’t eat anymore. 😢 Not even that reality could prevent the involuntarily action of me nearly slapping the hand of the server who was just trying to clear my empty plate. (Sorry, not sorry. ☺️) You know what? Forget the cold and consider me completely “comforted!” 😋 And that’s…Henry’s Take. #chicagocomfortfood
Will definitely return
Really good food, friendly professional service, great drinks. Will definitely return to try other interesting menu items. Brussel kale salad best way to eat your veggies. Outdoor seating despite Nov weather abd heaters were adequate
Quiet brunch
In a pretty patio, calm and cool, a delicious brunch. The staff is friendly. Great way to start a day
Dinner
Very good food. The watermelon/feta salad was a huge serving; crab cake was good, and salmon en croute creatively served with apple slivers. Shrimp and grits were just okay.
Lovely summer night. Good food.
Charming environment with a limited but interesting menu. I had a crab cake as well as cornbread. Husband had trout. Both were good. The crab cake could have had more crab but was tasty. The cornbread was yummy as was the trout. The indoor section of restaurant is very inviting but we sat on the beautiful patio because the weather was perfect. Waitstaff attentive. Tables not too close together so we could relax and enjoy the evening. Not inexpensive.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!

Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
