Cactus Club Cafe Station Square Burnaby Reviews from The Last Year
The food was delicious.
Highly recommended. But seriously guys - we are staying at a hotel and ordered with Door Dash. We ordered 2 meals - could you not have included some way to eat it? Like utensils - beyond the one pair of chopsticks you threw in. A couple of napkins would have been appreciated too.
Terrible Salad and burgers - slow inatttentive service
We had lunch here with friends today. I have to say, I ate probably one of the worst things I have ever eaten in a restaurant. I had the Avocado Kale Salad. It was terrible. The whole thing seemed like left over salad from a few days ago. It was slimy, the lettuce was brown, the cabbage tasted old - there was not one thing good about it - it was a total fail. Well, the avocado was fine. The burgers were just okay. Very thin patties cooked for a long time...nothing imaginative or delicious at all. The other thing, the young fellow looking after our table was not very efficient or attentive at all. We sat waiting to order, then we sat with dirty dishes in front of us for over 20 minutes. I was just about to get up to ask someone to clear our table. Three different people cruised by but did nothing. We were guests of our friends or I would have said something about the salad and the service. Super disappointed in this experience. The kitchen needs some inspiration and quality control and the service staff needs some direction.

I visited several different locations and felt that for the most part, the food and service is good. The interior is modern and clean. I met up with a friend for lunch and decided on the shwarma chicken bowl with falafel. I felt that this was decent and a healthy dish. The beetroot hummus and the sauce were my favorite components to the dish. This dish is overpowered with lots of onions and garlic. I would consider coming back if I was in the area.
Food is good, service is fast.
Went there for my birthday and got a free drink AND a free cake slice :) very attentive waitresses, always ensured our drinks were filled and our dishes were cleared. I also love the lighting of the environment. It feels classy and chill, not too bright that you feel like you're in a fast food establishment, but bright enough you can actually see the food you're eating lol.
I go to Cactus Club for one thing and one thing only.
. the blackened creole chicken. It gives me brain worms like no other. My soft mouth ascends into an out-of-body euphoric state with every bite of chicken and mashed potato. It is tender, bursting with flavour, and simply amazing. The asparagus is whatever though lol -- not my preferred vegetable. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone. This time I had the Dine Out menu though! $45 for a starter, main, and dessert -- what a steal! For the starter, my partner and I got the ravioli and prawn trio. For the main, steak frites. And for the dessert, New York cheesecake. And we also got the blackened creole chicken à la carte (see my review of it above..). The ravioli and prawn trio was good! Delicious sauce and filling, loved the addition of the sage leaf for some crunch and punch. Shrimps were small but as expected. This dish was giving, but I wouldn't get it outside of the Dine Out menu due to the $18 à la carte price for only three raviolis. The steak frites were okay. Fries crispy and delicious! Salad was really good -- loved the crispy chickpeas. Steak was a little tough but that's because of the cut. It felt kind of dry with no sauce or dip though. I didn't want to eat the white radish sauce provided (wasabi-like). Wouldn't get again. The cheesecake was just a regular cheesecake with raspberry compote. Very delicious, but not enough crust in my opinion -- I'd like double or even triple the amount! Service was great as usual for Cactus Club, although a bit slow near the end of our meal. Inside, it wasn't as bustling as usual for our 8pm dinner. A very dark ambience.

First I want to say that the food we ordered was alright, nothing to write home about but not really any complaints either besides the portion sizes for the pasta is small (pictured). We tried two of the pastas (rigatoni bolognese and the seafood one) + the burger + the sushi + wings/celery. Our main complaint is that to order a drink here our server told us we needed two forms of ID -- I've never been to a place that asked for two forms ever. Unfortunately I didn't have my physical credit/debit cards with me, since I normally pay everything contactless, so I wasn't able to order a drink. I don't want to sound like I *needed* a drink that day of course, but my friends and I have been to a different Cactus Club (Richmond) in early 2022, right when we turned 19, and never had a problem ordering. That day we had wonderful cocktails, and specifically came back to Cactus Club (we're not even from Canada!! lol) to try the Peach Bellini again. (Nowhere else have we seen this same type of frozen bellini, so you can understand our initial excitement.) So in summary, the food was alright, I was disappointed about not being able to order the drink that I've been looking forward to this entire trip, and .. probably won't be coming back next time I'm in Canada. On another note: The service was fine and the food came out in short time. The food and experience is where I'm giving the 3 stars.
Visiting folks in Burnaby.
The Cactus Club is at a convenient location by the Metrotown. In a Thursday night, the place was super busy and we had a hard time finding a table online but the hostess was very kind and helpful. She was able to seat us after about 10 minutes wait. Classic cocktails, dozen or so local beers and a decent wine list. I wished they have some bubblies by glass. Service was quick and attentive. We ordered a range of menu items. They were ready under 10 minutes - solid kitchen there. Each dish was well prepared and a generous portion. It would have been challenging to do a round of appetizers in addition. The chicken burger was an instant favorite. It has a lot of flavor and a little heat. The prawn ravioli was rich. The Parmesan chicken and grilled salmon could be a bit better - a little overcooked. Overall we had a good experience and would come back for another casual group outing.
Great evening ambiance.
A little loud so you much yell louder to be heard. Went with a large group. We ordered pretty much all the appies to start. Favorite: SALMON ABURI ROLL. AVOID: Very dry flavourless CHICKEN TENDERS.
Came here last week late in the evening.
Music was to my liking, ambiance was very serene. Was seated at a small table at first, then asked the server if we could get a bigger booth, he cleaned the table across from us promptly and then proceeded to take our menus to that table while we grabbed our napkins and drinks. Server came by after we ordered to ask how everything was. I told him my honest opinion, the cheeseburger I ordered, drinks beef patty was horribly dry, you can visually see that it was burnt and the top bun was colder than norm. I was going to eat it regardless as I was hungry and didn't want to wait for another one to be made. Told him I don't want anything free, I don't want a discount off my bill, absolutely nothing. He asked how everything was and I told him. He apologized and I told him he didn't owe me an apology, he didn't cook the food. After finishing my meal I asked for the bill, and the server asked if I wanted any dessert which I declined. He said it would be free of charge. I asked him why and he explained to me that he wasn't happy that my dining experience wasn't satisfactory and he wanted to at least try to make it a little bit more memorable with that gesture. I thanked him for his kind gesture/declined and went on my way. The servers name in question is Yama. I want this guy to get some sort of recognition for the outstanding customer service he possesses. Very nice, polite, well spoken individual. A true asset to the Cactus Club team.
Loved it
Great food, great atmsosphere. Had the truffle chicken Parmesan which was sooooo good. Beer selection was not huge, but still had no issue finding something. Service was very good, definitely recommend another visit. Well worth the money.
Was amazing from start to finish

Was in need of a nightcap on Saturday night at 11pm and stumbled upon Cactus Club! Sat at the bar and thankfully it was dark throughout the place! I ordered The Pearl cocktail and the passion fruit pearls are so good! Went back the next day for happy hour and ordered the Crispy Mini Chicken Burgers and Avocado Dip. Both tasty. What made this an even greater happy hour was the complimentary shots from the manager, thank you! Such a nice experience with the staff and the food was good!

Came here on a Saturday night and the place was busy, techno weird music a bit loud and the serving folks so friendly and attentive. Had the avocado kale, a salad well executed and tasty. Also had the med bowl which had some of the best light falafel I have ever tasty- well executed and the pickled cabbage so good. The weak part was the mini burger were meh. Fun place to hang out
Ripoff
We would have rated Cactus Club Station Square Burnaby location Zero if that be an option, we paid around $135 for simple dine in for 2, and came home still hungry not satisfied, our order was.... 1 beer $8, served without bringing it on a tray, the management need to train the server how to serve a class of beer... Our order was 2 appetizers and 2 Main dishes... 1 $19½ - CRAB CAKE - 1 small crab cake with sliced cucumber more then the crab cake, 1 $ 21 - WAGYU BEEF CARPACCIO, see through slices, not even 50g, couldn't even grab it with fork, so thin slice stick to the plate. 1 $24¾ - THAI GREEN CURRY with few pieces of chicken, served in a bowl, but advertised under Main Manu (not Bowls) section, served in a bowl, not tasty in other restaurants Thai Green Curry served in a bowl separately from rice, 1 $30¾ - BUTTERNUT SQUASH RAVIOLI WITH PRAWNS, 6 pieces of small Ravioli top with 6 shrimp size the called prawns, Service was bad, but forced to pay 18% tips on top of tax included total bill of $110, we paid partially gift cards, The worst part is the server charged another 18% tips on the balance we paid by credit card, which we only noticed after we arrive home. We've been dined in different Cactus Club location in the past, but last night experience made us not to dine in any Cactus Club anymore.
