Genki Sushi Kahului Reviews from The Last Year

So we went to dinner here this evening after catching up a movie. Figured we would be in and out and were not super hungry. The food was ok some items you could tell were old from the smell. Most of the item were pretty fresh. Service was ok. Pretty much after we were seated no one came back to check on us. Not until we motioned someone over after multiple tries that one of the girls came over. Food seemed to take forever. Watching the delivery it almost seemed like who ever was in the kitchen was only working on one table at a time. I ordered primarily nigiri as that is what I mostly eat when we go out for sushi. I'm not a big roll person. So our order should not have taken very long. My girlfriend got most of her items right away but I waited for a considerable amount of time. The food was ok when we did finally get it. The ambiance is the same as it has always been. Sterile and boring so there is not much to say about that. Sadly it seems customer service has fallen off considerably. Food is decent for the most part. At one point they opened or were cooking something in the back and it permeated the restaurant with a horrible old hot past its prime bad seafood smell. I gave it 3 stars this time but it's more like two and a half and that's even pushing it.

I honestly haven't been to Genkis in years and since my little one and I bumped into my bestie and her granddaughter at Target last night after work, this was a last minute girls date. The wait wasnt too long and everything was great. We will be back. Check them out.

1. Gotta go online and reserve a seat. 2. Waiting line is long bc they take FOREVER to clean tables. 3. Food is way overpriced for small rolled sushi. They skim out on the green onions and ginger. 4. Tea cup is dirty. Make sure to scrape the cup bc of build up. 5. They take FOREVER to ask if you need a refill on drinks.
Customer service is awful.
I used the QR code to be on the waitlist. (1) When I got the text to go to the front, nobody was there and whoever saw me wouldn't acknowledge me lol. (2) I said thank you to the guy pouring me water and he didn't say anything which came across as rude to me. (3) Then they asked everyone but my table how they were doing (only 1-2 other tables & they were slow enough to be talking on the side). (4) Then when we were given the reciept, they just laid it on the table without saying a word. It feels like the employees are in high school and they choose who they want to be nice to. I don't expect a lot from genki (cuz you know... it's genki) but seriously, grow up. They also don't use the tablets and you're expected to order through your phone by using a QR code. They provide free WiFi which is nice but it makes the experience feel a little more complicated. It's not genki sushi, but it's genki dukie.
Our grandchildren always love going to Genki when we come
Our grandchildren always love going to Genki when we come to visit and Genki has gotten worse every time we come back for birthdays or special occasions (5+ times). The service was bad. No one came back to check on us if we needed anything. Ordering was impossible because they didn't have all the sushi available. Being charged for items that we didn't receive was also unacceptable. Then to expect a large tip is beyond my comprehension! We left a tip but Genki need's employee training on customer service and satisfaction then they can expect bigger tips!
Love getting the platter A for parties and get together a.
The price isn't bad for what you get and the sushi is decent. I ordered over the phone the night before and the platter was waiting for me when they first opened. I was definitely pleased!!
I love a sushi belt and this was a sushi train.
...still fun and enjoyed the wide variety of plates my wife and I enjoyed while on holiday. Will go back on the next trip - thanks
Lots of empty tables reserved for social distancing.
Long wait for an empty restaurant. Ordering is done on your phone, very inconsiderate for seniors or tech challenged customers. Orders were frequently missed so you'd have to remind the staff. The whole system is way too complex and not executed well. Food is ok but not worth the hassle of their ordering system. They're clearly trying to automate to reduce staff and letting customers down in the process. Big fail.
Food was great.
Service was not. Servers already saw us multiple times, didn't even stop by to offer drinks. Waited 25 mins 'til first server offered us drinks and assistance.
Decent sushi for the price.
Ordered double dishes of four different offerings. All we're good! Got to speak up and hit up the servers! Don't be shy.
