Hawksmoor Borough London Reviews from The Last Year
Beef quality has dropped
Maintaining quality when a business grows is difficult. Sadly, the beef quality is nowhere near where it used to be at Hawksmoor. This is my second consecutive disappointing steak in the last year, so I'm compelled to write a not so positive review herewith. Perfectly cooked, but the depth of flavour was just not there. Not sure if it's the breed, killing the animal too young, not ageing it enough or a combination of the three. Service was good.
Excellent
We had a flying visit into London and wanted a good steak after a google search. We book here and it was excellent although on the expensive side our food was excellent and cooked to perfection. Only negative was the price for small 250ml bottle of coke £4

Disappointed in the quality of the steak I had, and certainly was concerned about its preparation... Overcooked
Good Sunday lunch but not value for money.
The quality of food was good though not exceptional. I was expecting an exceptional roast beef lunch. The beef was excellent quality, the roast potatoes however were not crispy, the Yorkshire pudding was a little soggy and the bone marrow gravy bland. The service was good. The price was expensive for the food and particularly the wine and other drinks.
The driest steak I’ve ever had. However….
We all love to write a review when we are irked or annoyed by a meal / venue / staff member. I, tonight, genuinely had the driest fillet steak ever. But…my ‘complaint’ was handled with utter professionalism and grace. My 5 star positive review is based solely on that. My steak was below par. Emily, our team member was EXCELLENT.
Good but hope steak quality isn’t deteriorating
I visited Hawksmoor Borough with a friend for a change having been to other Hawksmoor restaurants in London many times. Overall great food and experience as always however the porterhouse I ordered must have had at least 150 grams of fat and whilst I appreciate that steak does have an element of fat having had many porterhouses before at Hawksmoor this was one of the worst cuts I have had for a cost of £96. I am hoping it’s a one off as I have never experienced this before and I really hope Hawksmoor aren’t scrimping over their choice of cuts. That said service was excellent, food was great, maybe just my bad luck on the day in regard to the steak but given the amount of fat it should have been discounted slightly in my opinion.
Overpriced and underwhelming
We had a very disappointing experience yesterday. We booked a table of 6 for 3:30pm to celebrate my nephews 18th birthday party and after spending £600 on our meal all but one of our party left feeling disappointed with their meals. We ordered five starters which were the best part of the meal. The potted beef and yorkshires the nicest of them all. For mains we all ordered steaks. Three ribeye, a sirloin, a fillet and a 750g t-bone. All our steaks apart from the fillet were dry, unseasoned and undercooked. Two Ribeye steaks had been ordered medium and came out rarer than the one ordered medium-rare. The fat was still tough. The fat on the sirloin hadn’t been rendered at all and had to be cut off the steak in a big chewy, fatty lump. No one came back to check or ask how our meals were so by the time I caught a waiters attention to flag the issue the hungry men in our party had eaten half of their meals and so it didn’t feel right to send them back at this point but no effort was made to rectify the situation or even offer an apology. The side portions were incredibly small for £7 and £4 for a sauce which was barely more than the size of a shot glass. When the bill came we’d be charged for bottled water despite asking for tap water with our wine. I don’t mind paying for good food but this experience just left us feeling like we had been ripped off! Won’t be returning anytime soon. I’ve had better steaks and meals at our local Miller and Carter!
Poor
Very disappointing experience. I arrived at 12:50 for a 1pm lunch, was shown straight to our table. We waited until 1.10pm for a water, then a while to order a drink and one course of food. It arrived 45 minutes later. I had the steak suet pudding which was very disappointing, dry and lacked flavour. My guest had the sirloin steak which was fine. We left at 2:50, so after 2 hours one course, one drink. Not good enough and not cheap. The lady on the table next to us was on her own and also waited, she said one hour, for her food. The restaurant apologised and didn’t charge us for my food., which we didn’t ask for so they knew we were not happy.
Top drawer, mouthwatering
Know as the best steakhouses, we ate from the main menu, there is a specials board too, Likes Rib eye steak, beef dripping chips and bone marrow gravy Only way to describe this meal was mouthwatering, don’t know why this is my first time in this restaurant Book, book, book, excellent Facts All UK grass fed beef Mondays they allow you to bring your own wine for a corkage charge
Amazing food
Lovely place food was delicious We were looked after and made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived We were a table of 6 book in for lunch our waiter was George who was absolutely amazing and really looked after us. I would highly recommend Hawksmoor Borough
Possibly the best restaurant experience I’ve had in a long time
Absolutely perfect experience! Couldn’t fault any part of our visit, the service, the cocktails and the food were all 10/10. Every dish cooked to perfection, attentive and friendly service, and a great atmosphere.

OMG just looking at these pictures is making me crave it again definitely worth the experience. It's different you order by the ounces its precut. The toppingsg are seperate. The wait staff seems pretty accomodating. They help you out and they aren't dressed up so you don't feel like you are under dressed. The inside of the restaurant feels like a upscale pub, which I love. The bloody mary and limonata was really good. Cream spinach and yorkshire pudding. I definitely recommend this place. Try not to eat your way towards here. You are surrounded by a foodie market so you might get distracted. The dessert was awesome.
Honestly, it was disappointing.
With high prices come high expectations and this Hawksmoor sadly failed to deliver. The steak was overcooked and overly salted. The service was inattentive, requiring us to ask several times for things. And the atmosphere was sterile and crowded.

Hawksmoor, a British steakhouse chain renowned for its exquisite dry-aged and grass-fed beef, lures guests with its Borough Market outpost. Upon arrival, guests are greeted by an interior that is both opulent and inviting. Comfy dark leather chairs and wood-paneled walls create a warm and inviting atmosphere, while parquet floors lend a touch of sophistication. The Chateaubriand, a 600g masterpiece priced at (£90 = $112.50 USD), is a perfect choice for sharing. Cooked to a sublime medium-rare, the steak exudes a symphony of juicy flavors that tantalize the palate. The garlic mushrooms (£7 = $8.75 USD), a duo of portabella mushrooms enveloped in a garlicky embrace, provide a flavorful complement to the steak. The macaroni (£7 = $8.75 USD), with its wonderfully baked crispy top, sharp taste, and gooey interior, ranks among the finest mac and cheese dishes I have savored. While my expectations soared for the sticky toffee pudding (£9 = $11.25 USD), renowned as the best in London, the overly sweet sticky toffee sauce marred the sponge cake dessert. Topped with clotted cream, the pudding failed to meet my lofty anticipations. Overall, Hawksmoor offers a solid dining experience, particularly for those seeking a carnivorous fix. The selection of sides and desserts impresses, and I would gladly revisit to sample other desserts.
This is a London chain steakhouse.
It is much better than most chains we have in the US. The food was delicious and the portions were huge. The pricing was cheaper than I'm used to in the US for that quality of steak, which was also a big perk. The side dishes did not disappoint. We did the pre-theatre dinner for a Globe performance and had plenty of time to spare, can easily eat in under an hour with a reservation.

This place was the highlight of our culinary experience in London! A steakhouse restaurant with an English pub-style feel. A bit dark for my taste, but appreciate a different type of ambiance. We made reservations well in advance so when we showed up, our party of 5 was seated right away. The staff and service were friendly and attentive from the get-go. What we ordered and shared: Starter: Bone Marrow & Onions with sourdough (to die for) Oysters Sides: Hawksmoor Caesar Mash & Gravy Macaroni Cheese Creamed Spinach Garlic Mushrooms Main: Ribeye Chateaubriand Lobster w/Garlic Butter It seems like we ordered a lot but the side/starter dishes were small and the 2 males in our group could throw down. It was a first for everyone when it came to the Chateaubriand and it did not disappoint! So flavorful and tender. I would have been fine eating that all on its own. Although stuffed, we could not resist ordering their sticky toffee pudding - if you have a sweet tooth, this is a must-try. You will not be disappointed. If you're looking for a non-alcoholic beverage, their premium lemonade is a great choice! Yes, it's pricey but aren't all steakhouses? Well worth it in our book. We left this spot so full and satisfied. Hawksmoor, we will miss you!
Good steak, but definitely on the pricy side.
Mac and cheese was very enjoyable but the star of the show was actually the fresh sourdough bread with beef butter. Service is great, but the atmosphere is maybe not to my taste - Felt like I was in the Victoria era!
Hawksmoor in London - where do we even begin? Our visit
Hawksmoor in London - where do we even begin? Our visit here was nothing short of a culinary adventure. From the moment we walked in, we could tell we were in for something special. Let's start with the cocktails - absolutely divine! The Old Fashioned, Reformed Pornstar, and the Lychee Martini were all perfectly crafted and packed a flavorful punch. They set the tone for an unforgettable evening. Appetizers were a hit as well. We couldn't get enough of the Old Spot Belly Ribs and the Roasted Scallops. They left our taste buds tingling with delight. Now, onto the main event - steak! While the steak itself didn't quite steal the show, it was good. But let's talk about the real star of the evening - the macaroni and cheese. I had every intention of sharing it with the table, but one bite in, and I was hooked. I ended up savoring every cheesy, gooey, and utterly delicious bite all to myself! Dessert was the perfect sweet ending to our meal. I opted for the Blueberry & Lime Cheesecake, a light and refreshing choice that left me wanting more. The entire experience at Hawksmoor was quite lovely. From the tantalizing cocktails to the unforgettable mac and cheese, it was a meal to remember. If you find yourself in London and craving a delightful culinary adventure, Hawksmoor is the place to be. Cheers to good food and great company! #HawksmoorAdventures #LondonEats

We came here for Sunday Roast and had ourselves an exceptional meal. As a frequent go-er of Sunday brunches back in the states, I was thoroughly elated to find that the British had the same affinity for gorging themselves with tasty foods early in the day with no agenda thereafter. We each got the Porterhouse with the traditional drippings - phenomenal. And then finished the feast off with a sticky toffee pudding. I had no idea what this was before today; my life will never be the same.

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
