Waste of time
Reserved a table for outside for after our engagement. They made us wait an hour, sat us inside, and didnt even give us a windwo seat. They were rude about it too. Overpriced tourist trap. Much better food at other places, food here is ok not bad
This is a michelin star restaurant.
The minimum to spend is $150. Ive never ate anything so disgusting in my life. The whole meal was bad. I had this prawn appetizer which was cold and the prawn was barely cooked. Yikes. I still ate it trusting the chef. The sauce it was in tasted like baby food. Then i had the seafood rissoto. It tasted undercooked to me. Not al dente. The fish was barely seasoned. Then i had the veal. It wasn't impressive either. All food was recommended from my waiter. With that said, my drink was good. Service was nice. Beautiful ambiance. Don't make reservations for dinner. Go to their bar instead.
Not a pleasant experience
Terrible service. We sat alone for the first twenty minutes. Then alone again for the last thirty. For a minimum of 300 euro a couple, this was unacceptable. Clearly they think they are too good for paying attention to patrons. Overrated at best.
Not worth the hype!
Location was great. Ambiance nice- highlight live music. However- menu was too restrictive, service took forever, was extremely expensive and food was sub par. Definitely had much better meals at a fraction of the cost in Positano. IMO - not worth it.
Bang average
Honestly bang average , having spent the last 8 days travelling the coast this was our last meal. The dining room was uncomfortably hot the food was average at best the bill was extremely high. We ate at il Buco last week and that wasn’t great either . The star rating must be based on the view . We love fine dining but I am sorry this just isn’t up to what you would expect . You want to love it but just can’t . Save the money and eat by the beach
Five Star Dining Experience
We did not stay at the hotel, and thus went in knowing we had to spend 150 Euros per person. This restaurant was worth the high price tag, and more. It was our favorite dining experience in Italy and that staff was top notch. If you are looking for somewhere to splurge while in Positano look no further for exquisite cuisine, a luxurious atmosphere, and breathtaking views.
Beautiful interiors, outstanding service, food ok
The place is gorgeous - beautiful Interiors and the service is impeccable, however we felt a little disappointed in the food, it lacked that Michelin uniqueness…
A Miss For Us
We wanted to love this so much but unfortunately it fell short. Mainly on the food wasn't great, the service and ambiance were top notch. Also felt at times that we were over served on wine but that's a small detail.
Fine Dining in Positano with even better views
My wife and I had dinner at La Sponda. While we did not stay at the hotel we were provided the highest levels of service. There are attendants that direct you to the elevator to be able to access the restaurant and additional hostess ready to greet you upon exiting the elevator. The views are incredible looking out at the cliffside setting of Positano. Our meal was just as good. We had the special for the night which as Turbot prepared for two. The doboned the fish table side and did an excellent job as neither of us had any bones in our fillets. The antipasto was excellent as it was a crabmeat salad as was the lemon soufflé. The additional servings provided between our main selections were also well prepared and presented. Service was outstanding without being intrusive to our evening.
Everything about this place was/is amazing.
We even got a to go dessert. All the staff were very friendly and polite. The restaurant it self is beautiful located inside Le Sirenuse hotel.
One of the best dinners we had in Italy.
The service was phenomenal along with the food and the views. Couldn't have asked for a more romantic setting.
Italian splendor at La Sponda
We were three couples traveling together for a month in Italy. And La Sponda wins the award from these well traveled folks. From the moment we arrived until we the moment we left we felt pampered and celebrated. We arrived early at the hotel planning on having a cocktail first,but we were met by the maitre d and he indicated our table was ready early so we were seated. The entire restaurant is lit with candlelight, bougainvillea climbs the walls and the views of Positano are breathtaking. Dinner began with a sea bream tartare on the house accompanied by breadsticks that were only 1/4 inch thick. We had excellent cocktails, prepared to perfection. Our entrees were diverse from lamb to red snapper. We also had a wonderful salute for each couple since we were celebrating our anniversary. Trust me more surprises await you. The staff was amazing and the whole experience was out of a wonderful screenplay.
One of the most overrated and overpriced places I've ever
One of the most overrated and overpriced places I've ever been. terrible experience. not sure if it was the bill or the food but I wanted to throw up by the time I left. - A Chicagoan who has lived abroad and in LA.
Every recognition is very well deserved let's just say that.
From the gorgeous views to the intimate live music serenading each table, this place is astoundingly. Every single bite was filled with endless flavor and a memorable savoriness that makes my mouth water at just the thought of the meal. There is a $160 minimum per person that was not indicated so keep that in mind.
Probably the worst meal of our trip.
Service was pretty good overall, could have potentially been better considering what we were paying. There was a lot of wait time between courses and the server had to check back in to remember what we ordered. In terms of food, everything was really bland and the pasta was undercooked. Al dente is one thing, hard pasta is another. The desserts were inedible and tasted like dish water. Everything lacked flavor and was severely underwhelming. The view was the redeeming quality and only reason we were not more upset. I recommend going to Aldo (their bar) getting a similar view and paying so much less.
This place is super difficult to get a reservation.
After hearing that this was the best in Positiano, we tried to get a dinner spot. We were able to grab dinner. This restaurant got the best views. Service was okay - often times we had different wait staff. The food was often a miss. Many of them were fine, but lacked the wow factor that you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. There was also a min spend per person (approximately 160 per person). It's not too difficult to hit the spend limit as I was doing a tasting menu but I felt disappointed after spending nearly $600 on mediocre food. Save your money and dine elsewhere. In addition, there are a lot of parties (birthday, anniversary, wedding proposal, big celebration) that takes place at the restaurant. It was hard to find any quiet time/take in the space as there was a lot of distractions. However, you may be into this type of ambiance.
Was Good
Graced us with a great window table. Service and food was good. Lovely serenade by the violinist was a nice but not asked for experience.
A night to remember.
1000% worth it if you have the chance to go. This was our most memorable dinner in Positano, surrounded by candlelights and serenaded by the most talented musicians. The food was delicious but the service and ambience were the true highlights.
Save your money!

We were told to leave our drinks, as our waiter would bring them to the table. However, our drinks never arrived. We had to re-order them and were charged twice. Several times our water cups were empty. We ordered sparkling water and received still water. It felt as though we were at an under-staffed restaurant. The food: 3 stars. Even if the food was half price, I still would not come back. Everything came out cold. We saw our food sitting ready for five minutes before it was brought over. We ordered the spaghetti and the ravioli. We also ordered the veal and red snapper. Nothing amazed me. The taste was plain. The food was not even plated beautifully. Our homemade spaghetti is better 😅 We didn’t order dessert but did receive complimentary sweet bites. One out of three of them was great. I took one bite of the chocolate and couldn’t finish it. It tasted like I had bitten into a Johnny walker. Next to us, I could hear another couple with the same remarks as us. La sponda is such a beautiful place, but I’d come here just for a drink and not the food. Save your money.

Excellent Dinner at La Sponda!
We had a wonderful dinner here last night! I was a little worried because of some of the recent mixed reviews, but everything was fantastic! Service was impeccable. Food was exceptional. I especially loved the Beef Carpaccio and the beef-stuffed fagotelli pasta with aged parmesan cheese and black truffle. For our 9 year old they made the most exquisite butter noodles. It was certainly worth it! We would go back.
The hype for La Sponda is very high.
Every instagram reel, post, blog says to go here. And I'm happy to report, IT REALLY IS AMAZING. I couldn't find a table for weeks and then while we were already in Positano, we saw something open at 10pm the following day. Even when we got there, it still have a very cool vibe with the lights dimmed, and tons of style. We didn't see a view but honestly it didn't even matter. The service at the beginning of the meal was a bit off but it really picked up and made us feel like we were royalty. The food itself and drinks were all so delicious and some of the best bites we had in Italy. Pastas cooked perfectly, veggies with so much flavor and desserts that were awesome. Its pricy but if you can make it work, this is worth it.
Food is awful
I hope that anyone who actually cares about flavor and wants actual good food, reads this. La Sponda is a beautiful restaurant, the ambiance and service is amazing. But the food is awful. There are other reviews in between the good ones that will tell you this and you should listen. Michelin stars mean nothing to me if your food does not taste good. We are in Italy, and they served us pasta, two pieces of pasta, with very little flavor and UNDERCOOKED. Not al dente, the pasta was not cooked, it was hard. This is crazy to me. And I will bet you if you put me in a room with any of the Italians working at this restaurant they would tell me that the food is not good there also. There is no flavor to any of the dishes. The portions are the size of your palm. It’s a scam. You are better off eating at any other restaurant. I’m so sorry but they do not live up to their Michelin star and it’s very very mind boggling to go and spend that much money on that caliber of food. For background, I am from Beverly Hills, I eat at many restaurant and have never ever thought this poorly of any high end restaurant. This was shocking.
An amazing dining experience
From the moment we were shown to our table, it was a dining experience we will always remember. Seated by a window the view of Positano and the Mediterranean were amazing. We were immediately offered Champagne and a small plate starter. Then the Sommelier appeared with wine suggestions complementing our dinner selections. Next, they served some just baked Italian bread along with great local olive oil. The wine was also local to the region and paired perfectly with our main courses (linguini with mixed spring vegetables and lamb chops). Both main courses were exceptional. Then came a string duo playing a song of our choice. All the while the service was well paced--no rush and very attentive. With the lights of Positano as the backdrop and the beautiful music and wonderful food, this was the highlight of our week's vacation.

Service very bad
I arrive at 21.20…I have a table reserved for 4 persons, we arrive and they told us the table was not ready , and wait … they come and told the table was in the back of ristorante and I didn’t like because when I called I ask for a table with view , they put us to wait another 20 minutes, after this they and told us , they are sorry and soon restaurant will be close and we need to go in the other restaurant which they have 😂😂😂 service very bad , !
Exceptional dinner!
It’s rare to have one’s very high expectations exceeded but La Sponda was truly an unforgettable experience. Our server Giovanni and the numerous other staff members who we met over the evening made our dinner worth every penny and more. We were celebrating our anniversary and they acknowledged it several times through the evening. The food was excellent, great wine recommendations, and the ambiance could not be beat. We have been to Positano 3 or 4 times and will certainly be back next time if we can get a reservation. Thank you La Sponda team!
It was everything we had hoped for, and more !
A magical experience ! Great scenery, great food, excellent service… We chose the Tradizione menu with wine pairing, and the sommelier was really helpful and interesting (I loved the Barolo served with the beef raviolis). Everything was really tasty from start to finish. And they even sang happy birthday to me with a lemon sponge cake and a candle… A definite must see in Positano !
An unforgettable night! Outstanding…
Outstanding in every way! We visited on the 26th for a special occasion. A night we will both never forget. Food was on another level. Atmosphere and experience was incredible. The best service we have had anywhere in the world. Thank you to the entire team at La Sponda…. We will be back for sure! 7 star experience.
Excellent start to finish.
This was one of those places I stalked for months so we could be sure to get a reservation. It was worth all the effort, and then some. The welcome was so kind, the service impeccable and the food glorious. We were never hurried along, everyone was personable and wanted to make sure we had the best time. The view is unbelievable, and this place is just incredibly special. We chatted with several other patrons, and all felt the same. I was worried it would be stuffy, and was pleasantly surprised to find I was wrong on that point. It's worth the planning to spend an evening with the wonderful people of La Sponda!
Amazing!
This was an amazing spot. The food was delicious, the staff extremely accommodating and the view was gorgeous. We started off with chilled champagne and had an incredible meal. This was a very special Anniversary for us and the Staff made it incredible. I would definitely visit this restaurant if In Positano.
Good, not great!
Beautiful spot! Restaurant was gorgeous. Yet, food and service not worth the cost. Portions were small, food tasty yet not phenomenal , and service was spotty, here then gone for awhile, and restaurant was not busy at all. The music visiting the tables was a nice touch. The women’s restroom was impressive. Overall ambiance was spot on!

We ordered the risotto and had the waiter split it for us since we didn't want to order and appetizers instead ordered a main and shared it, well they charge you an additional 20% just to split the dish, just be aware of this, risotto was undercooked and was really soupy, when asked they didn't really say why. So still ended up paying for it. The beef tortellini with black truffle was decent, nothing to write home about, my partner ordered a white truffle dish and she said this was spectacular. We had the chocolate souffle and that was ok as well, nothing amazing, Gary danko would have put their soufflé to shame. We did get some complimentary taster and a lemon base alcohol drink. Service was great, always had a wait staff come by taking used plates and repouring water etc etc. Ambiance was amazing, after all you are in Positano... if they fail on that then you know the place flops! For almost €400 I don't know if the portions and unique flavors really did it for me. I'd probably skip this place if ever I'm back in Positano.

One need only interact with Aldo and his team to know that La Sponda is truly deserving of its spectacular reputation. What a unique and wonderful place with an exceptional team led by a wonderful man. Atmosphere (5) -- is there a restaurant with a better ambiance than La Sponda? I doubt it. Service (5) -- none better than Aldo and team in our experience. Food (5) -- stellar and well deserving of all its accolades and recognition.
They exceed the HYPE - very good, excellente'
La Sponda is wow! They are number one and they know it. White jackets, table service, multiple bars, and a main dining room. Food is outstanding. They have music entertainment walking around table to table to serenade you, beautiful views, everyone is dressed up and looking good, dress to impress! We went full throttle , caviar, carpaccio, risotto, cachio Pepe, and more. They live up to their reputation and service. Very hard to get a reservation. Good luck and enjoy

It was just as amazing as I had hoped it would be. Of course as everywhere I went on the Amalfi coast, the service was outstanding. The view was perfect. I requested a table outside and it did not disappoint! The food was amazing as well. I would highly recommend La Sponda if you are looking for a restaurant in Positano. I believe they book up quick during the peak season so you should make reservations ahead of time.
Not worth it
In a town with no shortage of excellent restaurants, La Sponda did its best to not fit in. Other than the bread, the rest of the food was simply not good. We got a variety of pasta and seafood dishes and each one disappointed. The seafood crudo had pieces of fish that were slimy in texture. The pasta and risotto dishes were undercooked well below Al dente. And the fish main course we ordered was tough and chewy like an over cooked piece of chicken. We’re from New York City and have eaten at many high end Italian restaurants both in NY and here in Positano and this was undoubtedly not worth the trip or the cost.
Not good.
The best part of this meal was the free bread and olive oil. The servers were wonderful but the food was not. Local spots in positano blew each dish out of the water. The pasta and risotto were beyond under cooked- beyond Al dente (I didnt even know this was possible), the flavors were lack luster and the fish we ordered was dense. Overall go to Franco's (their bar) for delicious drinks. Skip the meal at La sponda.
Best Restaurant in Positano
Hands down one of, if not the best restaurant in Positano. The staff are all professionals and super knowledgeable. The presentation of the dishes are just WOW. The scenery is there. The live music is actually good and not annoying like many other places. It was my significant other’s birthday and I preordered a cake for her. Let me tell you this cake tasted like it was made by God himself. 100% going back if you are from a major city in America and actually go out to eat you at real restaurants this place is where you belong.
Small Portions, Average Food, Sky High Prices
We ate dinner here during our 6 night stay at Le Sirenuse. I was torn on 3 or 4 stars but ultimately gave a 4 based off the staff and the other food I ate while at the hotel. The food was overall pretty good but the astronomical prices really made me judge it harder. We have eaten all over and paid super high prices for meals. When the food is amazing I don't ever talk about the price, but the food at La Sponda was not amazing. For appetizers, we had seared tuna with white beans and greens beans, as well as the grilled squid with lentils. For entrees, we had the "whole" chicken al diavlo and zucchini cream with clams and razor clams. Aside from the chicken which was delicious, everything else was just average. But what was even worse than the average food for the in no way average prices (even for Positano) was the size of the plates. They were the smallest portions I had ever seen. The "whole" chicken was 4 little pieces of chicken. And the zucchini cream with clams was about 4 spoons of zucchini cream with 2 regular clams and 1 razor clam. It was so crazy, my friend and I just kept laughing about it. I don't even know how many hundreds of dollars we spent on one dinner, but we definitely left hungry. On a positive note, the lemon spritz is great (at a price of about $30.00 though).

We dined here one evening last summer and it was absolutely divine! Our vacation to Italy was wonderful, but the one thing we couldn't change was that we were just so HOT everywhere we went. Dinner on the terrace at La Sponda was maybe the only meal that my husband didn't sweat through. The view was spectacular, but it was the breeze that was the real winner! The ambiance was very romantic and the food and service were both exceptional. I would also recommend having a drink at Aldo's or the Don't Worry Bar before dinner.

We had an utterly amazing dining experience at La Sponda - Le Sirenuse's restaurant was one of the most beautiful restaurants I've had the pleasure of visiting in a number of stunning spots in the world. The view outside and the plants & vines inside accentuate the décor but as the sun went down and the sky darkened, another show begins as you realize that all the light in the restaurant is coming from candles. Candelabras along with candles on the tables help to set the romantic feel. Although it can sometimes be "hokey", two musicians - one with a mandolin and one with a guitar were anything but and made another great background statement as the pair roamed table to table during the evening. Most importantly, the service, drinks, wine and the star of the show; the food itself were on par with the experience - a rare combination to find every cylinder firing at once. Thank you, La Sponda, for just that!
Ambience is 20/10.
Highly recommend going there early and having a drink and seeing the views of Positano and sunset. It is breath taking and very romantic. Service was amazing. Every dish that was brought out was very tasteful and savory. Seated tuna was cooked to perfection. Don't order dessert because they give you complementary dessert at the end. Restaurant is lit by 400+candles.
If you like sea food then you may like this place.
There is minimal things without sea food inside of it or on top of it. The portions are small as the ravioli is 45$ and you get a whole six of them. The service is slow, as we sat down for 30 min before the waiter came to get our food order. There was a drink waiter treated us less nicely once we told him we did not want wine for the night. Once we ordered finally bread came and some appetizers after we were there for 40 min. We had the ravioli and the whole chicken which were both tasty but small portions. We ate a pre dinner before as well, as our reservation was not until later. Only didn't cancel as there was a 100$ cancellation fee. The ambiance is neat and the tables are not on top of each other which is nice. They had musicians walking around and playing for each table. Overall it was an experience but would not return.
It could be incredible, it could be awful.
But trying to get to it was nigh impossible. We finally located the door to La Sirenusa (the hotel which houses La Sponda) but whomever works reception told us that the restaurant only offered lunch to hotel guests. Seems like something that would be worth noting somewhere. Good luck if you're headed this way.
One of my favorite dinners in Positano!
I’ve been to Positano 3 times and the first two times I wasn’t able to get a table at La Sponda, as they are fully booked daily. But the third time I made sure to book reservations well in advance. I also have to mention how kind and sweet the online concierge was. They got back to me quickly and made sure to answer all my questions and did the best they could with my table request. The food is delicious! Not the biggest of portions but you are paying for the care and quality of the dishes. The service is beyond great. Such amazing care for their customers. They are very attentive and will do their best to make your dining experience wonderful. The view is stunning, I cannot express that enough. I spent almost my entire evening watching the sunset. I definitely recommend La Sponda! I went three times during my trip! I will be for sure coming back when I visit Positano again!

Very Disappointing
My wife and I ate here at the end of our five (5) week trip to the Balkans. We had high expectations that weren't met. I found the restaurant stuffy with an aire about it. It was like they were trying to impress someone. The staff was attentive and the service good but they really weren't engaged. It seemed to me that they were just going through the motions. There were more American honeymooners eating next to us than I have ever been around. I thought I was in Hawaii. The food was good, not over the top, probably my least favorite dining experience while in Positano. Expensive and just not worth it. If you are trying to impress someone, go otherwise you can find better dining options. It was a stormy evening a little rain and the restaurant was very stuffy. We asked to have a window opened which they did but as soon as the wind started to blow they closed it. After that it took some effort for them to reopen the windows near our table. Not super service orientated

Beautiful restaurant with outdoor terrace, seafood platter is tasty, portion relativity small, oyster need order separately. Price is expensive, mainly for the environment. Cappuccino is great too.
Most disappointing meal on 14 day honeymoon
I was incredibly excited to visit La Sponda for my honeymoon. We stayed in Positano for 5 days and had wonderful meals everywhere we went—so we had decent expectations for what we were told was the best restaurant in Positano and a “must go”. In short: skip it and visit one of the other fantastic establishments in Positano for far higher quality food and 3/4 of the price. Beyond the ambiance and quality of service (both of which were fantastic) this was not only deeply disappointing but honestly confusing. I’m unsure if most people who write these reviews don’t know good quality food, or if they are blinded by the experience of Le Sirenuse, but this was so disappointing for a Michelin Star restaurant. The food was 2 stars, at best. We read poor reviews before coming but thought we’d give it a try anyway given all of the hype. The only decent dishes we had in our four course tasting/wine pairing menu were the amuse-bouche and the appetizer of the octopus. Everything else either left something to be desired or was downright unpleasant. We had raviolis which were served lukewarm and just okay in flavor (poor compared to other pastas we had all trip) and amberjack which was the fishiest I have ever tasted—it was almost inedible. The desserts were lemon based and almost painful to eat. At one point my husband and I were laughing because we thought the hype around La Sponda must have been a joke. Had this been a fabulous meal, the price tag would not have mattered to us. But we paid more than $450 for truly our least favorite meal in all of our 14 day Italian honeymoon. We had fabulous meals at Don Giovanni, Chez Black, and La Tagliata in Positano and spent no more than $175 a night. If you have money to blow and want an aesthetically pleasing place with great service—but don’t care about the quality of food — then La Sponda is for you.

2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* DistinguishedTree58, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* DistinguishedTree58 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to DistinguishedTree58 for any questions Peter may have as DistinguishedTree58 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* DistinguishedTree58 now uses their connections at La Sponda Positano to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If DistinguishedTree58 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, DistinguishedTree58 receives the $200 reward which is credited to DistinguishedTree58's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at La Sponda Positano!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
