Mike's American Springfield Reviews from The Last Year
Mike's American food is delicious.
I normally get the salmon entree. The ambiance is louder than expected during rush hour!
Hadn't been here in over 20 years since I moved away.
Went and it was just as good as I remember. Food and service were excellent. The parking is still terrible. Make a reservation for sure.
Long Review: So to start off, our server Nicholette was
Long Review: So to start off, our server Nicholette was AMAZING! She was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave great reviews which helped us make our dinner choices. The food was mediocre to me, however, the others in my party thought the food was good. Now on to the main discrepancy, we ordered a bread basket which costs $1. When the bread basket arrives, everyone dug in. Everyone is slathering the honey butter onto the little rolls and are getting ready to enjoy. I notice that there are little black specks in the butter. I checked the menu and it doesn't state that there is anything else in the butter, so I'm wondering what these black specks are. No one else in my party noticed these specks, however I did and I asked what it was. Come to find out, there are "poppy seeds" in the butter! Now, iykyk, "poppy seeds" will show up as a positive for opioids on a drug test. Where I work, we are subject to random drug tests at ANYTIME, so are the others in my party. We asked the server to confirm that these were in fact "poppy seeds" in the butter, she confirms. We ask for a manager and the manager Alana came to the table. We explain the situation to her, she laughs it off and says, "I honestly thought that was a myth, just tell them you ate the seeds in the butter at Mike's we've been around for 30yrs!" I nor the other guests in my party thought this was a laughing matter, because nowhere on the menu is it stated that there are "poppy seeds" in the butter. If we were to get drug tested and it turns up positive for opioids, we definitely wouldn't have known. We asked her if she could give us something in writing, just in case. She came back with a card to the media people, told us our best bet would be to reach out to them because she couldn't write us anything. We asked for someone else, Shelly assisted us with a copy of the menu and the receipt, the recipe for the butter and her card to be able to reach her, if something happens. She definitely handled the situation with care, she saved Mike's a star.
Met with old friends that hadn't seen in over ten years.
We thoroughly enjoyed everything we had. Mike's provided a very nice environment, good food, attentive service, and the ambiance was too notch. My wife and I will definitely go here if in the area.
Found out about this place on instagram and had to give it
Found out about this place on instagram and had to give it a try and I must say I was very impressed! I did attend with a small group and we had reservations. The restaurant had a different levels but each level was pretty full so I definitely would suggest you make reservations. Now to the food, everything was well seasoned and tasted fresh. I had the salmon well done paired with a caesar salad, mash potatoes and it had some house made chips on top. It was one of the best pieces of salmon I have had from a restaurant in a while. We also had crab cakes which was also delicious. For dessert we tried the bread pudding and I don't even care for bread pudding but this right here OMG amazingly delicious !! It was so good I would ride back just for that. I definitely recommend this spot and can't wait to try it again !
Wasn't sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised.
I liked the interior as it reminded me a little like Pike Place Marketplace or n Seattle. Ample seating in the bar area and sit down tables. The service was excellent and attentive without any hard sell. I opted for the Crab Cakes and was not disappointed. They came sautéed with sides of coleslaw and shoestring fries that were fresh and hot. I would definitely go back if I was able n the area again.
Yes!!!! Good quality of food has always been very good for
Yes!!!! Good quality of food has always been very good for me! Service is great! The aesthetics are nice.
Mike’s American has fallen
Mike’s used to be our favorite restaurant but their food quality has fallen off. My daughter and I both ordered the 8 oz filet and a crab cake. For both of us, they brought pieces of tenderloin, not an 8oz filet. The pieces were not as tender or as tasty as a whole filet. And the crab cakes didn’t have much crab meat. My wife ordered the large prime rib. Her order looked like a roast/steak. It wasn’t prime rib. Mike’s entree quality has dropped.
OHMYGODTHEROLLS!! Sorry, haven't even ordered yet.
Place is packed - with good reason. You can park across the street evidently, they just bought it out, I heard.
Great steaks, ambiance & service.
If you're in DC, you have to try this place. Parking is limited but you can park across the street in the shopping center.
The service is great.
Mom loves how friendly the staff is to her so she visits a lot. Food is great too. I wish they had the pulled pork sandwich that's in the menu available to order. Last 2x times I visited they were out. Would love to see baked fish, or chicken dishes. It's always busy so plan to park across the street.
My family took me to Mike's American for my birthday last
My family took me to Mike's American for my birthday last fall and we are going back this weekend for another celebration. The food is excellent, the customer service is superb and the price is right. This is the place to celebration with family and friends.
I love the warm goat cheese salad.
We enjoyed the lobster bisque. My husband loved the calamari. The presentation of these dishes is very pleasing. The service is continuous. Our server was very friendly and professional. Love the ambiance.
I like Mike's! What more can I say? I am a frequent guest
I like Mike's! What more can I say? I am a frequent guest and would say that 9 out of 10 visits the service is stellar. They're human, though and every now and then they are a little off but for the most part they are fast, efficient and pleasant . I absolutely love the salmon and pretty much get it in a salad every time I go. The hamburgers are excellent though and the rolls are ridiculously good. I could make a meal out of those alone. I personally think their steaks are a little pricey and not really worth it but the chicken with pasta is pretty tasty.
Family Favorite
We have been coming here for years. This visit was the day after Christmas, and despite our first experience with some menu items being unavailable, the food and service were as fantastic as ever. The crab cake sandwich and short smoked salmon salad are always winners. Be sure to order some Ozzie rolls!
This a one of the new places I can't find anything negative
This a one of the new places I can't find anything negative to say. If I had to find something it would have to be that they are too good so it's always crowded. Saw the reviews and photos that mad Mikes looks great so decided to come by for dinner early evening on a Saturday. The parking lot is rather small and every space was taken. The overflow parking is on the shopping center lot across the street. After experiencing Mikes I can see why they are so popular. I would definitely recommend having a reservation if you are going to come. I made one and when I arrived I was immediately seated/ The friendly waiter came by to quickly take drink orders and provided a few recommendations. For an appetizer the firecracker shrimp was what we decided on. They were tasty with a little spicy kick but not overwhelming. I don't handle spicy well so I was pleasantly surprised that I could eat them with no problem. For the email course I had the Crab Cake & 7 oz filet. Steak was cooked a perfect medium. It was tender and delicious. Crab cake was good not a Maryland style like I am used to but not bad. The best part was the staff. They kept everything running smoothly and had ample people to keep everyone served properly. The ambiance is trpical American fair.
A bit of a drive from DC but plenty of parking.
One of the best steakhouses in the area for the quality and value. Overall we paid $182 for three people not including tip. Which in my opinion is on the cheaper side. That also included a bottle of red wine. We each ordered a steak with mashed potatoes and our stakes were cooked medium rare. Loved them! Great service & friendly atmosphere. Will be back!
The food here is delicious.
I have a friend who frequents this establishment all the way from Maryland. The service is always on point. This place is always filled. There was no wait time but downstairs was full luckily there is a second level to this restaurant with just as comfortable seating.
Oh hey Mike! I'm extremely grateful for my partner in
Oh hey Mike! I'm extremely grateful for my partner in crime. When you have a foodie best friend you get to visit the BEST restaurants. Mike's is similar to Patsy's in Tyson's so I already knew what was going down. Fried Oysters - Beau loves him some oysters! They were so so yummy! The Salmon was to die for, the wood grill taste is everything! I typically don't eat too many starches (besides bread) but the potatoes were YUMMY! My Beau got the pork chop, he shared (love him for that) and it was delicious! Drinks were awesome! Infamous Ozzie rolls were so good, smiled the whole time eating every single one of them. Yup, this is my Beaus favorite and I know why! It's my favorite too!
Always packed, always fresh, always good.
Minus 1 star because my House Ale was a little warm and not fizzy.. so the tap wasn't that fresh.. or it sat out near the inferno kitchen too long.. idk.. but not going to knock it down for that too much... it's a busy place, I get it. It's a Great American Restaurant chain, so if you've been to Coastal Flats, Best Buns, Carlyle, then you know the menus good food, consistent and the pre dinner rolls , well that's just good too!
Food is great service is great.
Drunken Ribeye is very good and so are the crab cakes.
Great food.
Consistent quality. Very popular, so get a reservation! All of the Great American Restaurants are great.
Absolutely Fantastic!
I read the glowing TripAdvisor reviews and Mike's American lived up to it's hype. We loved it. The place is brilliantly designed, very large but it's broken up in such a way, with terraced levels, 2 floors open in the center, 2 open kitchens. Many of the tables are booths... the place is impressive! The food is also impressive, Everything we had was excellent. Tried their own Great American Pale Ale... really great. Tex Mex Spring Rolls a great app to share. Rockfish was a special, very good. The Chicken Tenders were perfect... great batter and fresh tender white meat. Highly recommend the Deep Dish Apple Pecan Pie w Vanilla Ice Cream for dessert, amazing. Service was friendly and efficient... what else would you expect when everything else they do is so enjoyable. A special place... a real tribute to the management/owners of this gem. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Great food
Wonderful food and service. Anytime I am in the area, I always make sure I go there. Food and drinks are fantastic. Their bred basket is the best!
First Class Chefs!
It's bn 7 yrs since we lived in Va. First thing we did was travel to Mike's. SUPERB!! Hasnt chngd a bit! Our table had Chopped Salad, Calamari, Bacon Burger, great Penne Pasta and the most delicious bread basket ever! Wanted to go back the next day :0. First class chefs. Wish there was one in Fredericksburg or Richmond.
Always get the best at Mike's
I have always liked Mike's. Their service is great, the food is prepared and presented well and its good. The atmosphere is really friendly and varied - meaning the dress code is come as you are to dressy.
Delicious food!
A pleasant atmosphere, personalized attention, excellent food, very delicious. Ideal environment for couples or groups.
Good place for dinner
Nice place with good atmosphere. Good service and decent variety on the menu. I had a Mike's Roast Chicken Saland and Mike's American Ale. The green part of the salad was good, but the chicken was OK. The salmon my colleague has looked better. The beer was not bad.
Delicious lunch
The food was absolutely delicious and the Ozzie rolls are phenomenal! The decor is really cool and there are tributes to Fairfax firemen everywhere.
