This was really my first tasting menu I've ever had and I gotta say I was blown away with the experience. I came out of that place with a huge smile on my face and extremely satisfied. I think Oxalis has the whole package that was perfect for me.The environment was casual yet high end which really helps you be able to relax while enjoying their food. Once you go in you're greeted with smiles by everyone working there and I mean everyone because they have a their open kitchen right at the entrance so the chefs are there too. I would say it feels like going over to your friends nice cozy apartment to eat a really good meal. You could almost talk to the chefs while you're enjoying your meal. My partner and I had lots of fun just watching them cook and seeing how well they worked together and treated our food. The attention to detail the service staff had was on a whole other level from what I've experienced. Like I said before from the moment you come in everyone gives you a huge warm welcome and the hostess leads you to your table. The waitresses who come after every course was very friendly when checking up on us and seeing what we liked or disliked. They even gave us tips on how to better enjoy some of the courses. One other cool thing I noticed was how they even fold up your napkin when you go to the bathroom. That was a nice touch.Of course the food here was really amazing too. My partner and I got the carte blanche ($112 tasting menu) which came with 11 dishes which took about 2.5 hours to finish. I won't really go into specifics for each course since I think you should go into it as a surprise but you can tell each dish was thoroughly to have their own distinct complex flavor that makes it fun to try to figure out what they've done to make it so good. I think my favorite part was the dessert, probably because I'm more of a sweets person but there were flavors I have never experienced before. The drinks alone could be a reason to go there too. We didn't do a drink pairing but we both ordered a drink. My partner isn't really one to get alcoholic drinks so it was a pleasant surprise to see them having non alcoholic sodas. Honestly when we first ordered it we weren't expecting much since places usually put more emphasis on alcoholic drinks but damn, their sodas are not something to pass on. I would say it's on par with their seasonal cocktails which were amazing as well. One thing I gotta say is how much I loved their sourdough. They actually bake it dark which I rarely see but I think that's the best way since the crust gets this amazing crunchiness and almost caramelized taste to it. Pairing it with their butter and buttermilk made it even better. Man I will continue to dream about that bread and wish I could have that for breakfast every morning. Thank you to the chef who made this!Overall I would definitely recommend if you want great food with a comfortable environment. I can't wait to come back here when the seasonal menu changes!
