Pearl Harbourfront Chinese Cuisine Toronto Reviews from The Last Year
Definitely Visit this Restaurant!
The Pearl at Toronto's Harbourfront has been there a very long time, and for good reason. The food is consistently fantastic, the service professional and friendly. They renovated a couple of years ago and it looks lovely inside. This restaurant is pretty much our favourite Chinese restaurant in all of Toronto. Highly (and I mean HIGHLY) recommend the beef with black bean sauce (get two orders), the chicken e-mein noodle and their crunchy spring rolls. Never once, in all the years we have been visiting this restaurant (or ordering take in) have we been disappointed in the food. Just outstanding. Helpful hint: make a reservation on weekends. If you want a window table (trust me, you do) call them ahead of time and request it. They will do whatever they can to accommodate you. It's nice to look right out at Lake Ontario while dining. See you soon, Pearl! :)
I really enjoyed this place.
Heads up you have to go into the indoor mall and then up to the second floor to get to it. Service was good, they were not overly attentive but they got everything out quickly and efficiently. Atmosphere was lovely. I went for brunch and the view was pleasant with an d ship right out the window. Our order BBQ pork pie dumpling: delicious the dumpling was cooked to perfection. Fried spicy bean curd: just get it, it's so tasty. Rice noodle roll with pork: maybe my least favorite but even then so good. Vegetarian spring rolls: perfectly crisp on the outside and fresh on the inside. Almond pudding: first time having this. Interesting layered and slimy but jelly like texture. The fresh fruit really brought it together for me. For brunch I liked how light of a dessert it was. Egg tart: I'm not a huge fan of these normally but I found this one to be really nice, the crust was light and flaky.

First, you come here because it's got a gorgeous view of the lake. We came on a stunning sunny day. Second, the dim sum was on the whole, very good, for the non-vegan dishes. Shu Mai, chive "hockey pucks", tofu skin rolls, green beans, spare ribs were all good. Sesame balls and rice noodle with you tiao also were very good. The somewhat disappointing dishes were for our vegan, vegetable dumplings, vegetable rice noodle, honey mushrooms. We had leftovers of all of those which was telling. Service was typical of dim sum restaurants-meaning never got our tea, and never got our ham sui gok (footballs) that are my second favorite dish after Chive dumplings. Which if I wasn't already so full I would have asked for. But overall, if I lived in Toronto, I would regularly come for the "right" dishes and the view!

Came for a private birthday dinner so there were four tables reserved just for us. They gave us a section of the restaurant that was away from the main dining area. Had designated servers for our section and overlooked the harbour even though we couldn't see it since it was dark out. I think the closest parking is underground, outside of Harbourfront centre. But you can imagine how expensive parking was - a whole whopping $30 - YIKES! Now onto the food. We got a pre-planned course dinner for all four tables and was not left disappointed at all. The food kept coming out and every single dish was so delicious. It's a Chinese restaurant, so it's all family style for serving. You're also able to bring your own alcohol, there is just a corkage fee per bottle. Still works out to be cheaper to bring your own alcohol (if it's an expensive one) than to purchase from the restaurant. Servers were attentive and brought out things we needed/ requested quite quickly. The restaurant does close early though (9:30PM), so you'll have to get in your meal earlier as well. We were one of the last ones to leave the restaurant. Overall, a great place for dinner especially if you have a larger party. Heard they also do dim sum here as well - can't wait to try it.

On the pricier side for dim sum - and not much stood out in terms of food/service. Here you're paying for the view, but we got seated in the middle of the restaurant so there was not really any views from there. Came on a weekend and did not have to wait much, but would have happily waited for a better view. Place was pretty busy at the time in the afternoon, but there were plenty of tables open still. The portions were on the smaller side for the dim sum dishes, especially the egg tarts which seemed to have shrunk in size compared to before. The rice noodle rolls were pretty good, nice and slippery and moist to go well with the soya sauce. The staff brought a dish which we did not order, so definitely some improvement can be made on service. Also would prefer the prices to be shown on the order sheet/menu rather than having to ask. All together, these couple of small dishes totalled over $60, to give an idea of the premium you pay. Thus, without the view there are definitely much better dim sum options in the GTA.
Ambiance for a Chinese restaurant is very good.
Cleanliness is also well above the average Chinese restaurant. The food looks (emphases is on the, LOOK) amazing! What threw me for a loop was the temperature of the food. It felt like I was eating at a steakhouse where they would let the steak rest. For those who aren't aware (hey... chef, you listening?), Chinese food is served, HOT!
They have a diverse menu although it is quite pricy.
I went by myself and the service wasn't very friendly, although they did bring out all my orders in one go. At the end of my brunch, I paid the amount with tip. The only reason why I wouldn't recommend this place is because the server I had demanded that I give a higher tip. You can go to another dimsum place and the food would still have the same quality but more affordable and friendlier service. In short, nice place to visit once, great views of the harbourfront, but wouldn't go again.
I came here for dim sum three times so far.
I would say dim sum is good. 4/5 If you want to get a lake view or a view of CN tower, make sure to come super early or make a reservation. Views: 5/5 there is no other dim sum restaurant in Toronto that will beat this restaurant. A great place to bring your visiting friends and family here. Staff were decent and attentive. 4.5/5 I will come here all the time if only it wasn't too out of the way!
Good quality dim sum that is possibly the best high end in
Good quality dim sum that is possibly the best high end in downtown Toronto. Not competitive relative to Markham and Richmond Hill options though. Best available. Overpriced though. They are priced as is they are the best in the GTA. Not even close.
Excellent authentic restaurant near the harbour (Harbourfront)
Positive surprise - authentic Chinese restaurant on the harbor front on the first floor of a building overlooking Lake Ontario. Excellently prepared Chinese dishes, good quality, good service and acceptable prices.

Great service, great good (dim sum) , waiter was very polite, we happened to fond this place while walking around union station in Toronto, this place has the view of the island and lake as well.

We came here on a Sunday morning an hour after opening for dim sum and were seated right away. We ordered the basics of dim sum-- har gow, siu mai, spare ribs, chicken feet, beef rice rolls, shrimp rice rolls, congee, mango pudding, and egg tarts. All of the dishes were really good, especially the beef rice rolls. The rice paper was thin and the soy sauce really hit the spot. The chicken and mushroom congee was so bland; didn't taste like they seasoned it at all. The mango pudding came in the shape of hello kitty! How cute, almost too cute to eat. Price wise was maybe a little on the steeper side for dim sum, but you're also paying for the ambiance and atmosphere. It has a nice view of the harbor and also there was an option to have outdoor seating.

Overpriced and mediocre food, completely not worth it and impossible to park. I would recommend more authentic dim sum at Chinatown
Great food, great view
Had dinner early on a Sunday evening — our table had a great view of the shoreline along Lake Ontario. We ordered a Pearl appetizer platter for 2, and a very tasty Sautéed Beef with Snow Peas & Mushrooms entree. Just the perfect amount of food for us. The restaurant really filled up while we were there — service could’ve been just the slightest bit more attentive.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
