Si Jin Steakhouse Reviews
Unsatisfied
Attended with an expectation of an unforgettable dining experience. Whilst the quality of the food and presentation was very good, there is a reason the exorbitant pricing is not shown on the website. The restaurant pricing for our bottle of red wine was around 200% more costly than in Australia ($22 in Australia compared to charged amount of $128 equivalent). Whilst we understand the tax markup in Indonesia this seemed excessive. When we asked to speak to senior management to explain this surprisingly no one was available. Sadly we expected more from an experience that required us to book three months in advance. We will not be returning.
Very stressful reservation experience
I waited over a month to write this review because I wanted to be fair to the restaurant and not let the awful experience I had regarding the dinner reservation color my remarks too much. The other reviews are mostly accurate: this place has amazing (if rushed) service and top notch food, although there is a definite lack of variety in sourcing of meat (very little US, way too much Australian). The experience is very much one of a kind in Bali. My “beef” (pun intended) is with the way the restaurant handles reservations. I made a reservation online 2 months in advance because that’s the way SiJin has decided to set up their system. Note it’s NOT because SiJin is especially popular. They just like to make the place appear “exclusive” (or at least that’s what some consultant told them.) Now comes the drama: I was notified 3 days before our scheduled date by the restaurant that our reservation was not going to be honored and that what I had done 2 months earlier was not “make a reservation” but in fact “join a waiting list.” Huh? I was further informed my reservation would be cancelled if we couldn’t come at a different, much earlier time on the same date. Unfortunately we could not. It took many messages back and forth over the next few days to finally get the restaurant to agree to honor our time chosen 2 months before. Apparently some marketing consultant has convinced SiJin that creating an artificial “2 month wait” and then not even honoring the commitment somehow enhances his stature or that of his restaurant. The opposite is true. It doesn’t even make financial sense. Every time I’ve gone to SiJin there have been at least 2-3 tables standing empty the entire time slot. Sad that it’s likely there were other willing customers turned away by the reservations staff. All this to create a (false) illusion of popularity. Due to the very bad experience just to get a table It’s likely going to be a long time before I choose to return. Being a world class chef isn’t just about exceptional food, it’s about the entire experience. Hopefully in time SiJin will get there. Meanwhile it’s just not worth the stress to land a table. I suggest trying the Grumpy Butcher (which is actually above SiJin in the rankings on this site). They have always found a way to squeeze me in even when busy and many menu items are better than those at SiJin.
Incredible
This is absolutely one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten that in my life. It was definitely pricey, especially when you consider that you are in Bali. However, you can get the most premium cuts of steak in the world for really a fraction of what you would pay for it elsewhere. The setting inside is intimate and the staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. They really care about every little detail in this restaurant. Not to mention the inside is also stunning. It is quite hard to get a reservation, so definitely look into it months ahead of time and do not be late. For two we paid $342 including tip, several side dishes, including Wagyu butter, which was of the coolest tasting things I’ve ever had, and also the two most expensive steaks on the menu.
Way Over Rated
Whilst the steak was absolutely beautiful, the sides came out way too early and ended up cold when eaten with the steak. We found the sides were over sauced and just a mix mash of flavours that just didn't work. The overall experience was very rushed and whilst the service was attentive it took way too long to get a glass of red wine to have with the steak (was basically finished when it came) and then it was charged at $43AUD for my trouble. Way over rated and we will not be back.
Anniversary dinner
So I made a reservation here 1 month ago because the system is like that. If we had made a reservation 1 month ago and there was a special occasion, our expectations would definitely be high... coincidentally it was my and my boyfriend's anniversary. I got a table for 9.30pm on November 14 2023 because everything was fully booked. 9.20pm I arrived. The hostess escorted me to the table, and there was already a man wearing a jacket waiting at the table and immediately asked whether he had been here or not, coincidentally I had been there but it had been a long time before Covid... my girlfriend had never been there. First, you were told to choose a chopstick and immediately given a food menu. But strangely I wasn't given any suggestions for the food, they pretended like we knew about everything. I don't know if there is a sommelier there or not (but there should be, right?) We've ordered food, we asked for a wine list. Even though my boyfriend knows about wine, there really isn't a sommelier who comes to tell us which wine choices are suitable for the food we choose. We ordered 2011 vintage wine, the wine arrived immediately and was poured into glasses, it turns out we needed a decanter, and we also had to ask for a decanter? For me it's really weird… they are supposed to know this? Appetizers come, we are really in a rush to eat, the wine in our glasses runs out and no one pours wine into the glasses? Should I call to pour the wine? main courses came after that it was good but nothing special.. And what's strange is, we weren't given a knife? It's a steak house? How come they don't give us a knife and we have to ask if there is a knife? The main course was finished, one of the staff immediately gave me the dessert menu and said this was the last order (really in a rush) I understand it will close soon but as I said, we have made a reservation 1 month in advance and we don't want to be rushed, we want to enjoy eating and drinking... and I don't have any other choice for dinner time because everything is fully booked... Finally our dessert came, I ordered dessert via WhatsApp because I wanted to give a surprise to my girlfriend, which was nice they put effort into writing happy anniversary and gave me a greeting card and there were greetings from all the staff... but my name was spelled wrong. After eating dessert we moved to the bar because we still had wine, there were 2 people at the bar at that time, I don't know if it was the bartender or barback, our wine ran out and we had to pour it ourselves, they pretended they didn't see us at all. It was a sad experience because before I went there the service was really good. Please in the future the service can be improved again. People who have booked far in advance definitely have expectations...
amazing experience
definitely one of amazing dining experience i’ve ever had. from arrival experience, meal experience to departure, everything was satisfactory. staffs were very friendly, and gave us a pretty much needed, space and time, to look at the menu, to have our conversation without the feeling of neglecting us. one of the most visit restaurant if you’re going to Bali. Shout out to Bastian for the amazing service.
Phenomenal Experience
Where to begin with this amazing Korean inspired restaurant in the heart of Seminyak. First, the whole meal feels bespoke, from being able choose the chopsticks and knives to having over half a dozen choices of all condiments including salts, butters and dipping sauces. The menu is unsurprising designed with meat as the centrepiece, with over twenty cuts of beef prepared to order in any weight desired. The chefs attend the table and grill the protein in front of the diners, which results in wonderful theatre and the perfect cook. Before the main event, a serious of delicious one-bite amuse bouche are brought out to begin the umami journey, and there are considered palate cleaners before each fresh cut of beef. The sides and starters are stand-alone excellence, from the heavier wagyu butter and truffle fries through to the sweetcorn, asparagus, romaine and ‘dancing eggplant’. Each fresh dish has been well crafted to cut through the richness of the beef, which ranges at the individual patron’s choice from up to 120 day dry aged cuts to reserve cuts of BMS 10+, and sourced from all the prime cattle locations of local Sumatran, northern Australian, Nebraskan or key prefectures of Japan. After all of that, dessert was as impressive, and using the coals to melt cotton candy over white chocolate mouse with raspberry and cookie dough was like being a child in a fairground. To top it off, the service was phenomenal, the kind of venue where everything such as water replenishment and napkin folding is taken care of without guests even realising it’s happened. A first class dining experience.
excellent food and service
went here twice, first was on April 2021 and second on 17 oct 2023. I feel the second visit I had better experience. service was great and food was as exquisite as expected. have to book 3 months earlier. really worth the wait.
Top Notch Steakhouse
Service quality, the staff, the products, and all others were mesmerizing. Everything is well planned and organized.
Si Jin.. Putting Energy into it Preciously!
As coolly stated, this "a modern steakhouse with Korean flair" probably craving for a powerful desire of alleviating one culinary skill and expressive dining experience. This is one Bali culinary spot where an epicurean befitting the surrealism on the enjoyment one cattle breed to the heart content... From the cocktail table by the bar to the table center piece, from the menu explanation to the amuse gueule, the journey begins superbly. Great selection of aged beef from AU and Japan from Purebreed Wagyu 30 aged Baseball Cut to the Reserve Cuts choice of the mighty Fullblood Kuroge Washu Mizayaki Hire A5, nothing could stop is the natural enjoyment of luxury dining. Here is one mecca of so – called the fine bins of beef, best of the bests in Bali and a far! It's not a shame factor, dining at Si Jin would very much needed its prior reservation (couple of month) and this is where added the prestige of your savoring palate to a very creative chef – entrepreneur’s establishment where he is certainly putting all his energy into this preciously gem.. it's certainly timely to "Jal meo geot seum nida"...
For us - best in Seminyak
Our best meal in Seminyak, the restaurant definitely lives up to its reputation. Classy food, excellent meat cuts, good wines and cocktails. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff. I would dine there every night, if I could get the reservation.
Book if you know your plans 3 months in advance.
We made our reservation 3 months ahead and even with such advance notice, we could only get the first dinner seating at 5pm. Decent selection of cuts - we ordered a range, Misuji 9+, Sumatran Ribeye and 30 Aged Picanha9+ on top of Naengmyeon, Mac and Cheese, Pomme Puree, Seolleongtang and a korean veg. Dessert was icecream - would've loved to try melona but was sold out. The kids loved the attention from the staff, having the kid's plate and cutlery vacuum packed and getting to choose chopsticks from a whole selection of kids' cartoon chopsticks. They even obliged with extra paper cranes for my little girl. The food is good for Bali standards, lots of theatrics infact. We had a good time.
Sumatran Ribeye
Great experience, we ordered wagyu butter & uni yukhoe for starter, and pome pure for the side dish. For the dry aged we choose picanha & prime ribeye, and for the wet aged is sumatran ribeye & misuji. definitely will return only for the Sumatran ribeye, loved it
Amazing experience and amazing food!
Managed to book my table since 1st Jan 2023 (2 months before). The experience was amazing, the staff were all friendly and happily explained things. Surprised by the amount of complimentary starter they offer. We tried various kinds of meats and all are amazing. Recommend to come in a group so you can try a variety. My fav is the picanha and ofc the Japanese wagyu that's the most expensive one in the menu. It literally melt in your mouth!
more than 5++star service/great place for couple or family.
My husband and I celebrate anniversary in SI JIN. eventually it shows that was a great idea. Thanks to Mr.Adi who served our table with great hospitality. His smile released our little confusion because we are not familiar to the menu. He's so patient and friendly. The two chef for cooking our meat is also very nice and professional. We truly like every dish and definitely will back again. The ambience is romantic and full of fun. We had great time. Please book in advance. table will be released 1st date of each month, for future 2months.

All staff went above and beyond to make me feel special- including a hand written card and the whole restaurant singing happy birthday. It is a whole experience, not just a dinner. Am incredible range of meat and an incredible and extensive wine list. Thankyou to the whole team- A must visit whilst in Bali.
