The Goat Market Deeping Reviews from The Last Year
Anniversary surprise
Was wanting a venue to host my parents 60th wedding anniversary surprise, I had made several phone calls to various places and The Goat was the only one that didn't charge room hire, but they had to cater, which I was more than happy with, they emailed me several menus, all with great choices on,I plumped for £14.50 per head with upto 40 people attending. We were given the conservatory, a lovely bright, sunny room with plenty of table space and seats, I was more than happy. The buffet was excellent with a great choice of sandwiches, quiche, pork pies and cakes to, all really tasty and good quality food...with the bar next door, it was a great afternoon in a lovely setting.
Serice with great food and ale
The Goat is personal service, fantastic food and sublime real ale. The menu is big - deep fried chorizo fries for a side anyone? - and there are specials as well. I had the liver and bacon casserole this time which was fantastic.
Average today I’m afraid
Well, service during the meal was good. We were initially shown into the conservatory; it was freezing, not good so was moved to a separate room…which was good. Then the mains, well, I’m afraid it was relatively tasteless….just not worth £18.95. Pudding was good though. Been here a few times before but today was not the best. Wish they had kept the normal menu as well. Real ale excellent.
A pleasant find
Nice local pub featuring local beers. A good sensibly priced menu. Quite a reasonable welcome. Great parking.
Lovely food, real ale and service
We had an excellent lunch from the specials board - Barnsley lamb chop and a paprica serloin stake. They were delicious. Food delivery was not immediate but what came convinced me that the delay was because it was fresh cooked. Good range of real ales, friendly service and good pricing for the quality given means I'll be back. There is ample parking and lots of seperate dining areas so you won't feel crouded. There's a fenced play activity area by the parking area.
We will return for dinner
We have not visited this pub for years but just dropped in for lunch. We had a couples of panini’s with chips and salad which were lovely. Good selection of beer.
Disappointing!!
Very disappointing visit and certainly will not be returning. A previous visit a few years ago was a very different experience and very sad to see such a decline. We visited for Sunday lunch to find a pretty much empty restaurant at peak time. No atmosphere and very dated surroundings. Our starters were ok, nothing special and small but edible. The roast dinners were pretty poor with watery veg and the worst roast potato’s we’ve ever had, however the beef and gravy were nice and the only thing we ate. The kids meal appeared under cooked and whilst they did take back and cook for longer it was very off putting and not eaten. The younger staff there were very pleasant and trying their best but it sadly appears to be a sinking ship. A great location and potential but lacking in so many ways. A perfect project for Gordon Ramsey! Extremely disappointing to spend your hard earned cash on a Sunday dinner to have to go home and cook another meal!
