True Laurel San Francisco Reviews from The Last Year
I love this spot.
Consistently the best cocktails in the City--not too sweet, fun and interesting new takes on classics but never so over-loaded with bells and whistles that you can't taste what you're drinking. And decently strong. Wine and liquor selection is also quite nice. Bar food that is vegetable-forward? Yes, please! Friendly, welcoming atmosphere. We aren't fancy people. We both work grimy jobs. Sometimes we come here in our greasy Carhartts and our stained pants and we feel perfectly welcome, but it also fits the bill for a "fancy" meal worth putting on your lashes and good heels for.

Yikes, came to try their patty melt and the fried hen of the woods mushrooms since I kept hearing such great things. But considering taste and price, this place is seriously overhyped. Each item essentially costs $20, so after spending close to $65 on an appetizer, burger, and drink, we left this place hungry and disappointed. You can't even tell that the fried mushrooms contained mushrooms. The pieces were so thin that it just tasted like fried batter. And the sour cream dipping sauce didn't help because the flavor was overpowering. You could replicate this appetizer by buying a bag of sour cream Lays. As for the burger, it was juicy, and the sauce tasted fine, but nothing an In-n-Out burger couldn't compete with. Good to try once, but I don't think it's worth a revisit.

Came here for a birthday celebration for a friend and we rented out the private bar section, which was perfect for the large group that we were in. The food was excellent and the drinks were delicious. What's great about the reserved bar section is that you have your own waiter/bartender. Would highly recommend for a birthday or any celebration.
Have been here for dinner many times, but decided to come
Have been here for dinner many times, but decided to come for brunch, and was happy I did. I think the best part about this place is there isn't a huge bunch line, and the food was pretty good! TL GRILLED CHEESE AND OMELETTE SANDWICH 2.0 ($16): Ginger + Sage Sausage Smash Patty, Fluffy Omelette, Melty Cheese, Giardiniera Spread on Toasted Pain de Mie. This sandwich was yummy and the fluffy omelette paired really well with the sausage patty. But I think I enjoyed the patty melt more. TL PATTY MELT ($18): Griddled Dry-Aged Antique Beef Ground in House, Melty Cheese, Caramelized Onion Special Sauce, Pickles, on Beef Fat Pain de Mie. I honestly could've eaten like 4-5 of these, they were so small. But it tasted really good if you like patty melts. I gobbled it up so quickly I don't remember much. TOCINO SILOG ($18): Sweet-Cured Fried Pork, Garlic Rice, Fried Egg, Cucumber, Shallots, Scallions. I thought this dish could've been better, it was a bit lacking in the garlic flavor, and I felt like the cucumbers should've been pickled in vinegar to make it a bit more authentic Filipino flavored. I did really enjoy their spicy vinegar side, next time I'll definitely ask for more spicy vinegar. SOURDOUGH FRENCH TOAST ($16): Caramelized Pineapple, Pecans, Whipped Cream Cheese. This one was my least favorite dish, the caramelized pineapples along with the sourdough just made this way too sour / tart for my liking. AMBIANCE: Bar vibes with good food, looks very cute inside, however there's not a lot of seating, and for dinner it's hard to get a table. But was so happy to see them allow walk-ins on a Saturday morning. I hate having to make reservations for brunch, so this place is perfect for me! I'll definitely be back!
4 stars for food and service.
Parklet seating was in a dark street but still was a nice ambiance. It's a quiet street too, so you can enjoy the outdoors while still being able to hear your company. The cocktail menu the night we went didn't have any tequila cocktails, and they couldn't make a paloma. But they made a tequila gimlet that tasted like a margarita in a fancy glass. The cocktails were pricey too for a menu we didn't find anything we loved. The table didn't like our drinks, but the food was a hit! The melt was delicious! The fried mushrooms were addicting. The gem salad had a lot of dill which I didn't love, but if you love dill then you'd love it. The service was friendly and patient with us which added to the experience. I'd probably come back for their food, but not for a night out focused on cocktails.
We came here because trip dog was too crowded.
It was spacious and their martini was unique. Highly recommend for a friday night if you don't want a crowded place but more chill vibes that you can enjoy your drink and talk!
I love this bar.
It is one of my absolute favourite bars in the city. It's beautiful, the servers and bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable, and the inside has an elevated yet cozy look and feel to it. Every time I come, the cocktails are excellent! Balanced, well-crafted; everything I want and expect them to be. They have a decent but not extensive selection of liquors and liqueurs, but all the bartenders I have had have made great things with what's available! The on-menu drinks are pretty good, with a few that are really fantastic, but the off-menu classics that I have ordered are what I've been most impressed by. The snacks are good too; definitely try the crispy mushrooms! Nothing here disappoints!
Was really impressed by the food and cocktails! We ordered
Was really impressed by the food and cocktails! We ordered the green goddess salad, mushrooms, crevice, and pork belly. Their vegetarian dishes were outstanding, flavors that really worked together. The pork belly and crevice were fine. Nothing out of the ordinary but still very yummy. Not necessarily filling portions, but also maybe because we just got small bites to share. Am aiming to come back to try their brunch and new items on the dinner menu.
Great for drinks and light bites
The front patio is really cute and has plenty of heat lamps to keep you warm. While the food was pretty good, itβs definitely all on the lighter side. Iβd recommend coming for drinks and apps or if youβre just looking to eat light.
