they cook a frozen beef patty and drizzle some brown sauce on it on a giant plate and charge $36. they like to pretend they are a fine dining establishment. they are a pub with high prices at best.
Amazing! Had the rabbit pie and was terrific.
The best part in addition to the great pie was the decor and environment. As someone who absolutely loves London, this place brings you there and more. A must do in Philly.

What's good here? Cocktails and mock tails and "2-for-1-sales" Tell the bartender "it's not a bender," and he'll pour a shot into the blender. For the bread and butter I used a knife as a spreader, not a cutter. The endive salad delish, I gave my wife half the dish, and she gave me half her fish. They proudly feature Happy Hour All Night, so if your wallet's tight, go to the upstairs bar- it's 6pm-to-midnight! Dessert is sometimes apple pies, sometimes pears, sometimes bacon coated with Twizzler ties, trust me, the pastry chef really tries. The hosts are courteous and not just cordial, the atmosphere is quiet although quite social, so take it from me: this Dandelion roars, the restaurant is not just take-out beef wellington tacos!!
Best fish and chips in 30 years
I love fish and chips. I have not had fish and chips this good in 30 years. The fish was thick and cooked perfectly. My sister had the salmon, it looked fabulous. My friend liked the Lamb Shepherd’s Pie.
Loads of food doesn't make a good dish better but it does
Loads of food doesn't make a good dish better but it does make a messy plate. The service depends on how you look; it feels kinda snobby in here when sitting solo at a high top table. In the dining room with a date, it is cozy. It is hard to tell if the chicken tastes good under all that cucumber yoghurt but the mussels are so good I had to eat them all!
Went to lunch & got the Dandy Burger & a Shirley temple.
The place is really cool and had cool seating and decorations. Our server was nice and accommodating for a friend who has allergies! The Shirley temple was missing cherries but was pretty good. The burger was also good but nothing mind blowing (even though it looks like it would be) Fries were also just OK Overall 3.5/5 but I rounded up because it's a cool-looking place and near Rittenhouse Park!!
Great atmosphere!
We had reservations about 3 weeks out. The place was extremely full, so I’d definitely recommend reservations. The service. Cocktails and entrees were fantastic. My husband had the Shepherds Pie and I had the Fish and Chips, it was cod, and they were both delish!
Stopped in for the afternoon tea special.
While $60 for tea, sandwiches, mini cheesecake, pastries & scones may seem a bit steep for two people, the quantity of food we were served far exceeded a similar helping we received at another outlet. And we had plenty to take home with us. The service was excellent and the atmosphere very quaint. Would definitely visit again next time we were in town.
Was recommended this place years ago and finally got to go
Was recommended this place years ago and finally got to go check it out and I definitely would go back! Super cute interior with a great fireplace to hang around. Got the dandelion salad and split the steak with my friend and both were amazing! Server was super sweet and on top of it. We had tickets to the flower show and we were in and out of there in just an hour.
Nice cozy British-style pub.
We ordered the steak and chips and the bangers and mash. Both dishes were tasty, with nice portions. The bar offered a nice selection, the Old King Cold cocktail was a refreshing choice. Service was great and they offer scan to pay.
Fantastic service, atmosphere and food.
The duck and chicken liver parfait was the best thing I've ever eaten in my life. This is an absolute gem of a pub.
Arrived for our reservation and were a little disappointed
Arrived for our reservation and were a little disappointed to be placed at a tiny corner table just across from the Hostess station. However, we were quickly made comfortable by our waiter, Bryant. He managed to somehow make the space seem roomy. We ordered the rabbit pie and the fish and chips. I read another review where someone complained about the fish and chips being soggy. Mine were perfect -- crispy, flavorful batter with firm, tasty cod within. My wife took Bryant's recommendation and had the rabbit pie, which she found delicious. She also thoroughly enjoyed the side of roasted, candied carrots. I'm not much for cooked carrots but even I liked these. Later, when my wife complimented them to Bryant, we discovered that they had been misdelivered to us by a busboy, belonged to the next table, and were not part of the rabbit pie order. We were not charged for them, but if we had been, they would have been worth it. My wife complemented the meal with a full-bodied cabernet and I thoroughly enjoyed a pint of New Trail Lager. It was a lovely experience and we left filled and happy.

The exterior of the place is absolutely stunning, and the interior just as so. My friends and I had to explore all of it beyond our table because it was all so simply gorgeous. Service was excellent- our server was very kind and thoughtful. Food was delicious- we got parfait for an app, my bf and I ordered fish and chips, and our friends got a rabbit pie and the lamb shepherd's pie. Fish and chips itself wasn't anything too special, but it satisfied the craving. I heard the pies were delicious. Parfait was incredibly creamy and smooth. Great experience!
Ordered a black & tan and received a pint of mixed beer.
A black & tan is bass ale on the bottom half Guinness the top. I never order this at a bar because I don't expect it to be done right. But a pub? Owned by Starr? Ordered it for my daughter knowing it would be poured the way it should be. So disappointed.
Ahh, The Dandelion.
One of philadelphias best. Love the tables, the decor, it makes you feel like you're in the house of an old money UK gentleman. The food is bangin. Lit steaks. Lit fries. Lit cheeseboards. I come here for my bday almost every year and am never disappointed. All the staff are extremely knowledgeable about the menu, wine pairings, etc. They're also super friendly. Terrific vibes
Very special building inside.
Worth seeing for sure. Friendly service. I only went once and the food was terrible. We both ordered fish & chips. Honestly, the worst fish & chips I've ever had. The fish was one big piece of sogginess. Crispy exterior with an uncooked batter-mess on the inside. If you like eating raw, greasy flour, go for it. Chips were cold and soggy. Neither of us finished our lunch.

We saw this restaurant on the foodnetwork, Best Thing I ever ate. They focused on the fish and chips. I love fish and chips so we put this restaurant on our list of places to visit. So we are in Philly for the weekend so our first stop had to be The Dandelion. We loved everything about this place! So much charm on every floor! The decor is great! Dixie helped us, what a sweetheart! I ordered the fish and chips and my hubby the burger. I have to say...BEST FISH AND CHIPS EVER!!!! The fish was flakey and crunchy. The fries...omg so tasty! The tarter sauce was great and I loved that Dixie knew to bring the malt vinegar!! My hubby loved the burger, it was a quality patty and just a perfect blend of flavors. The beer selection gets two thumbs up! I think we may have to visit again before we go back home!

The macaroni and cheese is exceptional! I like the ambiance a lot too--a fun place to visit when in Center City Philadelphia
Recommended The Dandelion
Beautiful presentation and the most delicious burgers. Delicious cutlets and fresh burger buns The atmosphere is the best
Lovely British style pub
Lovely British style pub in Philly. The menu was lovely and the happy hour menu well worth it if you go early. We were seated by the door which was a bit breezy when people came in but the rest of the experience, atmosphere and food were lovely. The staff were friendly and the burger outstanding.
Very good food, service was meh
Went out for dinner with a friend to Dandelion. The food was very good. We split the dandelion salad between the 2 of us and it was a good enough size for the both of us to get a decent sized portion per person before our main meal. I got the dandy burger and it was very good. The fries at times seemed a little underdone, but maybe they’re just thick. Our service from our waitress was a little sparse as she did not come by very often to refill drinks and see how we were doing. So that was the only downside of our visit, but everything else was great.
Cozy atmosphere and excellent quality
Had dinner with friends at this restaurant. British oriented. Excellent quality and normal size portions. Service is fast and friendly.
Everything Was Just Dandy
The Dandelion was just around the corner from our hotel and we walked by it a few times on our way to here and there, admiring the building’s exterior. I’m not a fan of typical British pub food, so I wasn’t too keen on dining there. But after seeing the menu online, I gave in to my husband’s suggestions to try it. We had a reservation (recommended) and were seated at a tiny second floor table. Our server was very nice and attentive throughout the meal. We started out with their stout bread which had a soft pillow of yumminess on the inside, and a delicious crust on the outside. A shared Waldorf salad was really good, and plenty for two. The romaine lettuce was super fresh, and combined with the other ingredients’ flavors, it was fantastic. For our mains, I had the mussels and my husband had the tandoori chicken. Some of the mussels (all a large size) were a bit sandy, and overall could have used a pinch of salt, but the broth was light and refreshing. The bread that came with the bucket was perfect for soaking up the sauce. I tried a bite of the generous portion of chicken and it was quite tender and very good. For dessert we shared a sticky pudding, but for me it was just OK. The atmosphere upstairs is crowded, but very cozy. We felt like we were in an old London pub. There is a third floor for diners which we didn’t see. I’d definitely return to The Dandelion if I were visiting Philly again. The building itself is worth a stop, with the added bonus of terrific food.
Good service and food
We went in spontaneously and didn't regret it. The food was delicious and the service attentive. For $80, we'd go back again.
Just go there ! All food is excellent and everything is top notch
Excellent rabbit pie! A big surprise to find this type of food in us. I loved it. The place is really nice and the staff is friendly.
Old World Charm
We stumbled in this restaurant for lunch. The menu is quirky, but the food is delicious! The entire experience was very fun and memorable. Would definitely recommend this gem!
The service was good but, beyond that, not much, unfortunately
I ordered what is their primary "pub" dish (after all, it's advertised on their marquee): English-style fish & chips, and was really disappointed. The taste was exceptionally bland at best and the overall presentation was far short of what I expected. Plus, the French fries (the chips) simply weren't very good. And, as noted by others, my chair seat too was exceptionally uncomfortable. More: My wife's margarita was undrinkable and she returned same--and she very rarely does anything like that, anywhere. I also would not recommend the desert plate, which allegedly contained a lot of fresh goodies but certainly fell short in quality and taste evaluations in my opinion. The beer list, however, is extraordinary and that and the fact our server was friendly and very responsive elevates the rating from "Terrible" to "Average." Bottom line is, we won't return.
We love The Dandelion!!!
Second visit. We love this place. Delicious modern English pub food. Cool modern upscale pub vibe. Attentive service. We just love it. Special place.
